    My 9th grade English teacher got me into body building. After school I'd go to the school gym and lift with him and learn stuff. First time i spotted him, he benched 480 and the bar bowed. He also knows martial arts. Don't remember which. Maybe he's Batman.

      There is, actually, a sleep schedule irl that works out to like an hour or two spread out into like 4-8 15 minute segments throughout the day. Apparently, it takes months to develop and those months are pretty rough, but eventually the body learns to jump immediately to deep sleep, the most restorative sleep for the brain (which usually only takes up a small portion of sleep). It’s good for mental recovery, and you can stay on it indefinitely, but it apparently sucks for physical recovery (like from high intensity hand-to-hand combat with Gotham street thugs).

As soon as you stop using it, there's that sad period of time if it isn't completely maintained where you lose half of your size. My understanding is that the size comes but the residual muscle when cycling off, will drop off fairly quickly if you aren't persistent.

    in "the batman files" there are a lot of examples of his training and what he utilizes for his overall fitness. at first glance one would think the routine would kill the average man but there have been constant examples of powerlifters/olympic lifters portraying crazy strength with certain lifts. in most versions of the comics batman never was doing like bicep curls or little isolation movements but always doing big compound movements like you said. but also he heavily utilizes bodyweight movements. i believe the most accurate representation of his training would be powerlifting/olympic movements like the bench, deadlift, squat, ohp, snatch, cleans, clean and jerk lifts (most of this isnt speculation it is actually in the files of his workout lol) whilst also adding in muscle ups, pull ups, push ups and all kinds of calisthenics whilst weighted. and when it comes to his endurance work you def hit the nail on the aspect of traditional cardio such as running, swimming, martial arts practice. as far as diet goes? i like the example they had given but if he isnt to crazy on it then i guess no reason to stress over it. he is doing a LOT of working out on top of being on patrol so its obvious that batman looks as insane as he does. Point blank, if you wanna train like batman? utilize heavy and powerful compound movements that were listed with maybe some isolation movements ( i recall seeing him max out on a tricep extension machines) throw in some weighted movements and traditional cardio and bam. you are THE BATMAN (kinda :D)

      In absolute honesty, here is what I honestly think about what majority of Batman's strength training should consist of....
      One arm divebomber push ups, One arm pull ups, One leg full rom jump squats.
      Why this choice of exercises?
      By constantly increasing the number of max reps on these movements, even beyond 100 reps per exercise perhaps (he is a peak human ffs), while constantly bulking up in bodyweight at the same time...
      He makes sure that his relative strength, absolute strength (because bodyweight is going up), explosive strength (because relative strength is a big part of it) and endurance keeps going up, ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
      In terms of max effort training, I believe he does max effort isometric contractions for each and every muscle group in his body, like trying to rip apart thicker steel chains over time.
      Maxing out or increasing 1rm strength is simply about neural efficiency, lifting a barbell in squat form and trying to rip a seatbelt strap tied in a loop around your feet in a squatting motion is NOT different, and produces the same max effort strength qualities.
      So high reps till failure on the most challenging bodyweight exercises and max effort isometric training for individual muscle groups. That is what I am betting on.
      As for diet, Batman lives on peanut butter sandwiches, milk and coffee, this is official canon lol, it was shown in the Hellbat Armor storyline, Alfred constantly scolds him for not trying expensive meals for some years straight.

      Honestly I bet batman would 100% take steroids if he could, he probably does but they wouldn't show that part on screen. Batman is literally at an Olympic level in everything he does, his lifts are elite, his sprint speed is elite, his acrobatics and flexibility are elite, and his martial arts skills are also elite. In real life not even steroids would help you get that good, but in the comics the only way batman can be like this and still be somewhat relatable to a normal person is if he also took some sort of PED. Also in the comics Batman tried Bane's venom for the simple reason of trying to get stronger, and venom is basically a super steroid.

      Well, it is a comic-based character, so you can't actually do what he does and expect his results. You will burn your self out, and like you said, won't be able to maintain size, never mind add size. And this isn't even getting to the wear and tear and injuries you will have.

    With all of the different things he has to do and the limited time he has available I always thought Batman would go the old school route, with 3 large meals a day and a basic 3 day a week fullbody approach with plyos, sprints and steady state work sprinkled in alongside his fight training. He has a naturally big frame and wouldn't "bodybuild" in the traditional sense. Everything would be about strength, power and utility, not biceps peak or glute striations.

    Awesome video! I know a lot of people are talking about whether Bruce's body could handle the physical strain of the workouts & combat on a daily basis. What makes me more curious is how he's maintaining this schedule & peak condition on what's essentially a 3rd as well as occasionally 1st-shift or 2nd shift schedule, with maybe 3-4 hours of sleep on a regular basis. I know another person in the comments referenced comics material about him learning ancient meditation techniques that could give him 8 hours of rest in like 2 hours' time, but with the amount of physical intensity he puts it through I would think he'd have to have at least 1-2 nights per week where he sleeps for at least 9-12 hours for recovery. Especially after those nights where he gets injured fighting Bane, getting stabbed by Joker, or catching a stray bullet from a squad of goons with machine guns.

    • @bombboy200
      @bombboy200 2 года назад +4

      If I'm not mistaken, in the comics they explained it as microsleeps. So he sleeps like 4 times a day throughout the day in order to be awake when it matters most. It's similar to the Uberman Sleep Schedule if you're curious and wanting to do research on it. It's probably really straining on his body though due to the exercise and fighting as well as the sheer amount of time that he's awake for as if he only sleeps for an hour and 20 minutes a day that leaves 22 hours and 40 minutes left that he's awake, which is insane.

    Did I hear you right, 210 lbs? In the comics and animation they always portray him as being seriously jacked. 210 lbs. on a 6'2" frame doesn't look that jacked. I'm using NFL receivers as a reference and they look much longer and leaner than everybody else.

    • @WoodsP51
      @WoodsP51 2 года назад +2

      That caught my attention when he said that as well. I always pictured Batman as closer to 6'2" and 230ish lbs; more like an NFL linebacker. Of course, it varies based on which specific comic line you're reading... I can see early/young Batman being closer to 210 lbs, but middle-aged batman must be 220+. If you're eating that many calories and exercising 3+ hours per day and you're only 210 at 6'2", I'd estimate that you're doing something wrong.

    Without Batman being a "super soldier", him not having been injected with some type of a serum, there is no way he could maintain this regimen without the help of PEDs. He would burn out his nervous system, overuse his muscles and tendons and end up with injuries that would prevent him from going out every night.

    Gonna get straight to it; Aikido is a root art of Daito Ryu (look at up). The closes character (in anime) like setting that uses this form is Shibukawa from Baki the Grappler (2004) series . Jujutsu aka manipulation of joints, is part of this Martial art. Judo and Aikido are root arts from Daito Ryu - i.e. made for modern day applications. Most kata, or learning phase of Daito comes from Kendo or fencing. BUT THAT IS NOT to say it does not have modern day applications. Classic example is ki plus ki , which a modern day boxer uses by turning the head or body WITH opponents direction of blow. Kenichi is another anime where you see, Jujutsu. Again , not talking down just pointing out.

    Runs/Swime (however many miles)
    Comes back, weight trains for a couple hours, combat trains.
    Eats
    Does maintenance in the cave. Goes through his files, does some work for Wayne enterprises.
    By night fall he suits up. He’s in the city by 9-10 pm comes home around 6am (maybe later depending on if he’s working on something)…stays up if need be..goes to bed around 8-9am (tries to sleep) repeats.
    Now this is if he’s not working on a case. He could be up for three days or more with 2-3 hours of sleep. I think it’s different in every comic.

      Comic book artists rarely understand what's physically possible. I remember one comic had Batman benching 1000lbs. The world record is 782.5lbs by a 440lbs man.

      Here's a trick my dad taught me: swap out beef steaks for venison, and for a heart healthy alternative to regular eggs, try egg white omelettes. Also, meat is better protein than protein shakes, and maybe throw in some branched chain amino acids in the mix.

    I feel like Batman would train like Dorian Yates, with extra GPP work and cardio mixed in with a focus on heavy bag work/foot work/mma work.
