Hi, sorry for the late reply, I Used an addon (check the description) and the surface deform modifier. I was trying to make a tutorial on this, but things didn't work as planned.

The way you spread that grid is not the right way. The more curved the object the grid is projected on is, the more deformations you'll get. Here your grid is fine on the top, but ultra stretched at the bottom. You should have used Tissue Tools.
