Hoping our AFP/PN will have many new military equipment such as destroyers (12) frigates (36), corvettes (36), offshore/onshore patrol vessels (60), patrol boats (60), fast attack crafts (150), fast missiles craft (36), multi-role fighter aircrafts (240), Boeing P-8 Poseidon (2), attack helicopters (60), anti-submarine helicopters (36) and submarines (4), missile air defense systems, Unmanned aerial/sea vehicles, and high advance military communication systems for first line of defense and protection of our country's EEZ/territory. Don't worry my friend because that incoming assets were only part of horizon 2 of AFP modernization Program procured during past administration of Pres. Duterte. The horizon 3 under PBBM which was a re- horizon of AFP modernization Program focused on external territorial defense of the country plan to procured many destroyer size Frigates, addition Corvettes, OPVs both for the coast guard and navy, additional Fast attack interdiction craft or patrol missile boats, a fleet of attack submarines, Additional batteries of Brahmos Anti-ship missiles for the Philippine Army and navy, 5 to 7 squadrons of MRF fighter jets at least 50 to 60 units and many other brand new military assets.😊😊😊

@@TheMowst yes it's true and right that modernization of an armed forces' of any country will takes many years. China and other our ASEAN neighboring countries and other parts of Asia modernize their military capabilities 60 years or 50;years ago. The Philippines get lagged behind because past administration from Pres. Cory Aquino neglected our military and even made it weak. Only on time of pres.P-noy on his remaining year of his administration seriously began to modernize our military as after the stand off between Phil. Navy a& Chinese navy standoff. P-Noy realized that China is now a serious threat and danger to our national security and sovereignty. But during FPRRD terms Digong procured many brand new weapons & assets as to implement Horizon 2 Phase of AFP modernization Program but its design was internal & littoral maritime territorial defense of our territorial sea. But it was a short period of just 6 years plus 2 or 1&1/2 years of P-Noy terms. Weapon we acquired is not enough. Under PBBM the Horison 3 phase was intended to external territorial defense and Offense maybe it takes 20 or more years before it could be completed to achieve our credible defense capabilities.
While I do believe na our navy will eventually need submarines, sana focus muna sa surface ships dahil kulang na kulang pa rin para sakin mga barko ng coast guard lalo na ng navy, we need presence sa WPS, pero di lang naman yon kailangan ng pagpapatrolya considering na we have one of the longest coastlines.

Agreed. The Philippines will be putting these hardware to good use. Unfortunately ships cannot take care of itself. Repairs, maintenance and training will eat up the bulk of its time in service. The mighty United States Navy doctrine in keeping its seaworthy navy in play is for every ship that is deployed one is being serviced after coming back from a deployment and another one is in its training cycle to replace the one that is currently deployed. In other words for every 3 ships of a class, only ONE is deployed, and the cycle continues. You will also require a logistical chain to ensure that lone ship properly stocked not just with fuel, but also with all the necessary conveniences to support its crew not just during its deployment but during the time it is on training and also during its repair availability when not deployed. The civilian community does not realize that it takes a whole service of sailors to maintain these ships EVERYDAY WHILE UNDERWAY! The least of a country's problem is having the funding to purchase these ships. You have to train its crew on how to fix anything that will break. You have to pay their services. You have to have the logistical chain to feed and fuel them. Unfortunately even having these ships now WILL TAKE YEARS for a navy to be battle ready.

Kaiangan din natin ng stockpile ng ammo at missiles. Better kung tayo na din ang gagawa. Dapat gawa na din tayo ng mga drones. The OPVs were never meant to confront capital ships on conventional naval warfare scenario. Kayanga bare minimum yung armaments niya kasi they were built to defend the tri-sea border with Indonesia and Malaysia. Considering the fact the Navy's has been sending patrol crafts just to defend it, OPVs were meant to shadow any Chinese innocent passage down South para hindi naman magmukang katawa tawa bansa natin if we only send small boats to shadow such large ships passing through. After all, malaki parin ang threat ng piracy, illegal trafficking and terrorism sa tri-sea borders. Those small boats cannot cover such large distances, however such big hulls like OPVs can.

@@johntoledo8561 the problem is walang empty space for SSM. And the hull was never designed to actually have them onboard. If ever lagyan man yan, lulubog yan, considering the maximum displacement yan is 2400 lang.
Di naman kasi katulad yan ng Rizal Class na over 2600 ang maximum displacement kaya able pa to have full pack 16 cell VLS despite the fact having C-Star SSM na on-board.

Correction according to the resource this ship is 25 knots, because the ship is a combined diesel and diesel propulsion. It will heat up fastly and will affect the ammunition located on both side of the funnel/ship

Well, the Koreans already up their ante/offer to PN. They will now be offering the KSS-III diesel-electric powered submarines to the Philippine Navy, considering their competitors like Navantia offered their best subs to offer.

The PCGwill be playing a significant role as the Chinese continue to reclaim territories they claim as theirs,the PCG need to be better armed than it is currently.
