    ** My recipe **
    My recipe was inspired by Royalty Soaps but has been tweaked to include my favourite ingredient, Shea Butter.
    If you wish to see more about my recipe, check out this video of me preparing the oils and lye solution for soaping. • Preparing Oils & Lye P...
    30% Coconut Oil
    20% Palm Oil
    3% Shea Butter
    42% Olive Oil
    5% Castor Oil
    Superfat - 5%
    Lye and Water - I work at 33% Water but you can choose the amount that works best for you. The Lye amount can be calculated using your favourite soap calculator. I prefer to use

    Beautiful flowers! A great tutorial, for sure. A long time ago, I worked in Bakery and took seminars on Cake Decorating and I have to say you did a wonderful job of showing how to pipe those flowers. We were taught to practice and practice. It was true the more you piped the better you got and piping with soap is the same. Your flowers have come out lovely and so realistic. They looked like you have been doing for this years and professionally. Well done!! Can't wait for the weekend soaping. Hopefully someday, you will get your chance to go to Japan to see the Cherry Blossoms.

    When I cake decorated, we always put one bag in with the accent color in the bag with tip and then added rest around it. Just be sure to clip the tip of the other bag before you fill. Works like charm.

    @soyandshea Lovely piping Keeley, they turned out so well. My mind is going everywhere thinking about what the soap is going to be using these lovely blossoms. Sadly, like you, I haven't seen the Cheery Blossoms in Japan in person, but it is on my bucket list!!! Mind you, with the snow in Canberra this past weekend, it will be a while before it actually feels like spring. :)

      I didn't realise it had been snowing in Canberra 😮 this country is amazing. It's been quite warm here and we got a big thunder storm last - first one in at least 6 months

    When I did a lot of piping or a large Wedding cake that had two colour piping I would put the lesser or other colour into another piping bag and just cut the end and pipe down the inside of main piping bag or another piping tip that is the size of the second colour.

    I saw somewhere that they put down a piece of cling film and then put on the “icing “ and then rolled it up and just slid it into the piping bag. Bonus: it keeps the bag cleaner if you use a reusable bag.

    Beautiful blossoms! How many lbs of soap do you think a newbie should start with for piping just in case they don’t turn out? I don’t want to waste the oils.

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  5 лет назад

      Thank you 🌸 being in Australia I work in metric and for piping I usually make about 100-200g depending on what I'm piping.

    That was so smart to use the sticker papers
    I also would LOVE to visit Japan! I have yet to ever set foot outside of the US, but some day!
    That's interesting that you lived in England, were you born there?

    Lovely flowers. About how many did you make and how big a batch did you make?

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  5 лет назад

      Thank you 🌸 sorry I didn't count how many I made - I usually just pipe until I've had enough 😆 I made 150g of oils for this.

    How do you calculate how much soap you will need for piping? I want to try it but I don’t know what’s a safe amount so I don’t run out.

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  5 лет назад +2

      That's such a tough question as it depends on what your piping. When doing flowers I usually make a 150-200g batch of soap and always end up with more but it's a nice amount to work with.
