  • Taron is their signature roller coaster at Germany's Phantasialand; a park world famous for high quality theming and a mindblowing overall experience, all in a compact package.
    Taron is a Blitz, aka an LSM Launch Coaster, from Swiss manufacturer Intamin Amusement Rides, and it delivers one of the longest coaster rides in Germany with a fast experience through the entire town of Klugheim and through fast turns and twists. This dual-launched coaster is one unique experience.

    The ride that refired my love for roller coasters.
    There's something a lot of people seem to miss about Tarons pacing.
    It's kind of the Intamin Mega Coaster Formula: Kick off the ride with some insane world class elements and than give people time to process what just happend and let them just take in the moment, the wind, the speed, the scenary and so on, before lining the ride up for the grand finally. Think of Expedition GeForce, all the Super Mans, Goliath (Walibi Holland), Hyperion, you name it.
    That gives the ride a nice tension curve like a piece of art while making their rides more exesseble to the GP and that's a good thing in my opinion.
    You see this technique used on the asain market even more. No coaster in China is complete without a drawn out scenic turn or something in the middle

    • @NorthernRidesYaBoi
      @NorthernRidesYaBoi  Год назад +4

      That's a very good point and it makes a lot of sense! It might explain, why I was perfectly fine with its pacing, as well. It was hella fun all the way through for me

    Can we just talk about how cool the "wallride helix" at the end before the trim is.
    Also the 2nd twist on this tall zigzag thing after the 2nd launch is absolutely underrated.
    Also the sense of speed on that 2nd launch combined with the LSM launch vibrations (idk if you felt that) makes this launch absolutely elite and worth the hype.

    • @NorthernRidesYaBoi
      @NorthernRidesYaBoi  Год назад +1

      The wallride helix is awesome. So panoramic and great in forces.
      The twist you speak of is also great. I don't remember if it was more powerful than the first, but it was brilliant fun, and yea, the best thing about the 2nd launch is probably the sense of speed and roaring through the tunnel while being launched. I didn't feel any vibrations, and I do still prefer the first launch for its punch, but the 2nd one definitely lives up to the hype!

    Part of what makes it great is how it slows down just before the second launch. It gives you some time to process and see the theming. A lot of first time riders think they then turn into the brakerun, only to get completely caught of guard by the second launch. It really sets up the launch and second half of the ride to feel even faster.

    Damn I think you nailed that review, basically vocalized my thoughts. I am probably biased, since Taron has a lot of sentimental value for me, but I think that it serves the purpose it was built for perfectly. However I still catch myself wishing it was designed by todays Intamin. Like the technology is basically the same, but in the last 6 years Intamins Layout design has changed quite drastically, incorporating a bunch of RMCish Elements. When I look at something like Velocicoaster, Tarons Layout almost feels outdated, which is strange to say considering its only 6 years old.
    Well, it probably still is the most reridable, comfortable and just plain fun coaster experience I ever had.Btw love your editing style, keep it up

      Yea, I agree that it is absolutely perfect for its purpose and it is incredibly re-rideable, fun and comfortable. And true, Intamin has had a massive revolution the past few years! Aside from the seating being very similar, Kondaa and Taron still feel very different. I rode Taron one day after Kondaa, so I could compare them perfectly, and it hardly feels like the same style. Nontheless, I am so happy with how the layout turned out on Taron! It's such an awesome ride!

    Loved this ride. Was a top 10 on my Europe trip. Quite funny in Coaster Studios Pantheon vs Velocicoaster video he asked me and Rollercoaster David which we preferred and then threw in Taron to the mix. I even said I couldn't comment on Taron since i've not experienced it yet, but 3 months later i did and it didn't disappoint. I'd rate them Velicicoaster, Taron and then Pantheon. Love these Intamin launch coasters. Velocicoaster and Taron both have next level theming. Pantheon has almost nothing, but still an amazing ride.

    What a fun review! Thank you very much. Finally got some rides on it in october with my wife and kids. While my wife ranks it at the number 1 Spot on her list, my kids and me have it in 2nd place behind Untamed. Like you said, 2 or 3 dead spots, but hey ,i see them as a short breathing break between the real stuff. Very reridable and you should try out last row if possible next time. Because all 4 of us think, that Taron is clearly a back row ride. I'd give a 8,5 for front row and a 10 for back row. Back row was awesome at the end of the day, when it was warmed up real good. It was hauling and i wasn't able to keep my hands up in some of the tight turns anymore.

    Great review! That first camelback is incredible, not only because of the airtime and laterals you mentioned, but because the drop is so much bigger than I was expecting. The second quarter of the ride didn't really bother me since the sense of speed was still there; not to mention I had no idea where the ride was going, so each turn was basically its own surprise.

    A note for the trim brakes near the end. While they may hurt the g-forces on those bunny hills, I feel they are required for that final curve before the brake run. Every time a ride this coaster I'm still surprised how strong the vertical g-forces are in that curve. Especially when you get the feeling that you are nearing the end you get a final surprise before actually reaching the brake run.

    I think these "slower" sections in-between actually help making the coaster more re-ridable.
    If the positive Gs and laterals stayed as high throughout the entire ride, there'd be no way I could ride this more than 2-3 times in a row.
    But with those more relaxing sections in-between, it's possible to ride it an hour straight during ERT without my body complaining at all. ^^

Do with that what you will.

For example RTH you rated as the best (or one of) ride in the world, yet it doesn't even crack my top 10 Europe rides on my trip. I didn't ride it once either, gave it a good crack with 7 attempts.
