The story of the prophet Elisha and the Bears is recorded in the Bible, in the book of 2 Kings, Chapter 2, verses 23-25.
Elisha was an Old Testament prophet, successor of the Prophet Elijah. One day, as he was going from city to City, a group of young men came out of the city of Bethei in the direction of Elisha. They began to mock him, insulting him and saying nasty things.
In the Bible, an exact record of the words the young men were saying to Elisha is not provided. The passage in question, in 2 Kings 2: 23-25, simply mentions that these young men went out of the city and began mocking Elisha, calling him "bald." Look at the biblical text:
    23. From thence he went up to Bethel: and as he went on the way, young men came out of the city, and mocked him, saying unto him, go up, thou bald man; go up, thou bald man! Look at the bald guy, get out of here, bald guy.
    24. And he turned back, and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord: and two she-bears came out of the wood, and brake in pieces forty-two of the young men.
    25. And from there Elisha went to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria."
Therefore, the young people were mocking Elisha for his physical appearance, calling him"bald." This provocation was regarded as disrespecting the prophet of God, and it was this that led Elisha to invoke the curse upon them......
