Wow hope no one was hurt. What is amazing is that an Autorack Train went thru there on a slow order, the exact same thing happened when i was filming a derailment! An Autorack went thru at 5 MPH
My husband has worked for RJC for 20 years doing this. The equipment are booms. He has ran those the most. This is the Nicholasville Kentucky crew where he started.
I filmed another one years ago that Corman cleaned up in Lewisburg, Kentucky just south of Maysville. Was he on that cleanup by any chance? It was a loaded TTI coal train that went into the creek. I never posted it though
That was very nice of them to let you get that close to the derailment to make a video of the clean-up of the derailment most train companies don't allow it at all and you could still make a video of trains passing by you at the sametime what a awesome video Jawtooth everytime
You actually are allowed to watch and video derailments as long as you stay off of the railroad property and don't interfere with the recovery process also people can't do public news broadcasting as if they are part of news media or a journalist you can only do things such as videos for fun and for private use if you are a hobbyist learning ways of doing a model layout.
@@josephbennett3482 wrong. the US Supreme Court has ruled that journalists have no "special" rights over that of the citizen. The law can not differentiate between media and the people. for security purposes, law enforcement can restrict access. however, law enforcement can be sued if they allow "media" in and restrict the citizen. these cases pop up often. cops should know better.
I would love to see one of those "Audit" You Tubers trying to get into those railroad crews business. But they only seem to antagonize public officials and police. Guess they know construction and railroad will beat this azzes...
Great catch. I’m always amazed how quickly a mess like this one is cleared out so fast. Time is money, so getting back to normal operations is vital. Corman is really a group of professionals.
One thing I am certain sure of they have all the equipment to get the engines and cars back on the line and upright in a jiffy. Business as usual. These heavy engines and cars have me sitting dow for hours watching how they get everything in order again. Good job.
A few years ago I got to watch the Corman crew at work for three days. There is no doubt that they knew what they were doing. The thing that really impressed me was that didn't all come from one location. The wreck happened about 14:00 on a Saturday, I got on scene about 02:00 Monday morning. This scene was about two hours north on the Me NH border on Interstate 95. They had all the equipment set up and had started to sort things out. Keep in mind they had come from all over the north east section of the country some from as far away as Virginia and western New York. I don't know how long it took to set every thing up, but breaking it all down took about 4 hours. Around noon on Thursday they were all loaded up and headed home. I earned that you don't want to live anywhere near train tracks. Four boxcars in a straight line were out in the deep woods. Pretty impressive amount of force. Merry Christmas.
kman 4443 They don’t pay that great starting out. I talked to them about a conductor position in Princeton, IN(switching contract for a vehicle manufacturer), and the starting pay was $16/hr.
Amazing video footage so close to the derailment, glad no one was seriously hurt and no chemicals onboard any cars leaked or caught fire. You’re the best Jawtooth
I lived near the reading rail road, exactly where rocky was filmed. I and a friend watched a derailment in the early 60's and they had a steam powered crane lift the box cars back onto the tracks. That railroad did not retire all their steam engines until the mid 60's. watching one of those beasts in action was amazing indeed.
when the auto train came, thats a “but wait! theres more!” moment. good to know the CSX derailment wasnt at a railroad crossing. 2 reasons why derailments are worse at railroad crossings 1. old signals get replaced 2. traffic wouldnt be able to get through
I have another video of a derailment that I am working on. Its old but it is interesting. It will be a slide show video but I want to film the area to show what it looks like today
Pass that area near weekly since working out of a new warehouse along the river. Weird and awesome to see it all here on RUclips from just 10 months ago!
Another brilliant video Brian , nice to read that you were allowed in to film, must be your name that opens doors for you. As you rightly say being polite and asking never hurts.
Love watching RJ Corman operations. Just so interesting how they disengage all the piled up stuff. Great catch JT, you were in the right place and they let you get pretty close once the stuff was stabilized. Merry Christmas and looking forward to 2020.
I went to the Dental Depot 12/18/2019. This occurred on the 22nd. Better check with The Pinball Wizard, Major Tom. Great footage! Thanks, I really enjoyed seeing this. Presented very well!
Wow that was quite a derailment. Pretty bad. You covered it well. I enjoyed the video. Thanks Jawtooth and wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 👍👍👍❤️
There was also a derailment in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia on CSX’s Shenandoah Subdivision last Saturday and two cars fell into the Potomac River, and from what I could tell from the pictures the train string lined, considering the cars were empty.
It can be quite a chore to rerail cars. I'm glad there was no hazmat. We have derailments where I work occasionally when a coal car dumps unexpectedly then the ones behind it just run up and off the tracks. I'll post a video of that on my channel.
Hi JT just wanted to wish you and your family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope santa brings you some amazing live action lol.. thankyou again for the shout out lookin forward to the next one all the best Andy n Bob in a rainy uk 😊
JT I counted 73 auto/racks on that one, but what a mess CSX has on there hands there to clean up. And that lane of traffic marked with them orange cones I’m surprised that they haven’t had a big wreck with car’s there and you were definitely to close to the road if you ask me. Be safe and again thanks for sharing.!!
It’s strange that you got the permission to get closer when companies like these do not like anybody to see or know of any derailments. Also especially for security reasons.
I was actually surprised but it never hurts to ask. You should see the derailment that I got to photo in Kentucky. I haven't posted that video yet but it was a big coal train derailment that RJ Corman had to work. If you talk to the right person and stay out of the way you would be surprised what you can photo. I have had them show me around and give me great info that even the news stations can't get. The key is to be polite and be quick.
Train wrecks often remind me of the aftermath of a little kid with a toy train throwing a temper tantrum. Seen the aftermath of about half a dozen, mostly on the old C&NW, the day after it happened. Train car axles bent nearly double, coupler knuckles snapped off and even a drawbar snapped clean in two.
Bad couple of days for CSX, which had another freight derail in WV on a trestle over the Potomac. Given the sharpness of that curve, I wonder if the train string lined. Great catch, JT.
Well Christmas was yesterday for me and it's Boxing Day now, but wow that derailment was something else! Those sidewinders they use are awesome for cleaning up derailments! Must have been a bit of a job putting those cars back on the track! :D I hope you got some really good presents this Christmas Jaw Tooth! Merry Christmas! :D

Yikes! Reminds me a lot of the Georgetown KY derailment just much closer to home! Hope everyone is ok in this one. Always was a fear of mine to derail or have a collision when on the road. Thanks for the up close view Jaw Tooth!
Years ago when I lived in Lexington I saw an NS coal train derailment. Before I met my wife my old girlfriend lived in Georgetown. I use to watch trains there. Merry Christmas!
Wow. Great video showing (as much as practical...) how Crews clear such a wreck. As the stacks clear, It made me think of a funeral procession passing a body lying in state. Kinda Sad, like the train is mouning the loss of a previously "living" train. Great idea, asking to document as much as they'll allow. It may be requested later if the source of it (the cause) becomes unclear. This is what helps keep industry "on track" with maintenance issues. Good thing it hasn't snowed ☃️ substantially yet...😉 👍
This one and West Virginia . Looks like the Mothman has returned. Been seen flying around a few tracks on the Peninsula Sub in Va 😀. Happy holidays to you and your family.
That was cool the sounds the video great job and yeah lol after about 3 minutes of that train I had wished I counted the cars. Sure was long and that mess I’m sure will take some tome to finish cleaning up.
Hi There Mr. Tooth! Well, Well...I see you've scored big on this one...not everyone happens upon a donny brook with the precise timing you possess! Swell vid, except for the auto-rack train (but ✋ wait, there's MORE, and MORE, and MORE...) I guess the 10 mph restricted speed work zone didn't help much. Still a nice vid. I love watching your videos. I'm gonna sit back and watch the 15 you have here on derailments/accidents. Ty for your hard work.
Glad you like them!
The Corman company is one well oiled machine
Well paid too! I'd bet.
kman 4443 They don’t pay that great starting out. I talked to them about a conductor position in Princeton, IN(switching contract for a vehicle manufacturer), and the starting pay was $16/hr.
I saw them clean up a huge coal train derailment in Kentucky. They lifted loaded coal cars out of the creek and put them on the track
Maybe kman meant the Corman company gets paid well for the cleanup, not the employees pay.

Another csx derailment😨, great video jawtooth.
Very interesting! I love videos like this. Give us more, please!

Great Video! I have worked 2 derailments in my Firefighting career a few years ago! A big mess and some big money to clean up!

Now that was a wreck, bet it took a lot more time to clean it up. Great coverage on the scene, think you got close enough.

CSX--- What a mess! RJ Corman must make a fortune picking up after CSX derailments!

Stellar catch! Ending the year on a high note I see.
Talk about "Live Action!" You are the man, Jaw tooth! When you talked to the CSX inspector did he know why the train derailed those cars?

Wow what a mess. Hope nobody got hurt. Good video
I remember watching the trains go by every time I was at my dads house in new point!
Ive often wondered how derailed trains got picked back up onto the lines. Thanks for the closeups!
Picked the switch did they. Time for the poor over worked track inspector to be grilled at a hearing. Hope no one was injured.

And what a mess that derailment was!
When I was in boy scouts many years ago I road a bicycle on the c and o cannel and walk that bridge it was the most fun experience I have ever had
