Like Jones, I unironically love Skyrim. I've put hundreds of hours into it across 3 different platforms split among multiple characters. Yes, other games have much better quests than Skyrim's "go to this dungeon and get something from the chest at the end", but something about leveling up and getting to choose another perk is really satisfying. For someone like me that loves the feeling of progression in RPGs, I really like getting the progressively better sets of armor and weapons, as well as getting the various houses and storing tons of stuff in them. It has one of the best soundtracks of all time (I'll stop and listen to "Secunda" every time it comes on). I just played the almost decade old, unmodded Xbox 360 version and there are still vistas and scenic views that I'll stop and admire. I inevitably go back to playing it a couple of times a year.
A million with you.Its really weird how the Allies are treating the game of such importance. I mean i get it not being a favorite but you could feel the scorn pouring out of some people. I know the Hall is all fun and games but its definitely kinda weird.
Pleasantly surprised at the number of votes for Sonic Mania. Props to Don for bringing it. Fantastic game. Also, thanks for squeezing in a Hall of Greats before the end of the year. We know everyone's busy and this thing takes some time to prep.
Huber's positivity and enthusiasm for Dead Rising was a much needed mental health boost this year. Also Ben's presentation should be turned into a Don't Skip. It was a fantastic speech.
Love hearing the Allies laughing in the back during presentations. Nice improvement on not cutting the last question/answer. I still think this could be improved by having a number of questions asked instead of a specific time. Some Allies just go on long tangents for their answers and that means they get *unfairly* less cross examined than others who are more succinct.
I've not played Skyrim and I'm not that interested in playing it, but Jones' presentation was great, especially the bit about understanding why no-one had been to the top of the mountain or whatever. I feel bad for him! Bring Skyrim again when you can, Jones!
20:41: It's unique, and almost 15 years later to say that about a game it's pretty impressive in itself. I see your "Shadow of the Colossus"... I raise you with a "THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU". 1:05:21 I have always hated Sonic, but damn it Don, I would vote for your pick just based on your enthusiasm. 1:19:00 Blood, you are speaking to my soul now. 1:24:49 Ben, they did. When Mega Man 9 & 10 were released, they ditched the charge and slide... they went back to basics, baby. This was an impossible vote, even more impossible than most times. Great show, guys.
This isn't entirely true. Protoman can slide and charge buster in both 9 and 10. Also, in Mega Man 11, the most recent one, mega man can do both. - Ben
@@EasyAllies Oh Right, I forgot about proto man. My bad. Haven't got around to play 11 yet, but I figured it had those back... still, met me half way? Edit: I just realized, I fell into the trap you were constantly telling one shouldn't fall. Just because you asked something is not a detriment for the game. I apologize, Ben. It's just... I love mega man 2 so freaking much that reason abandoned me. Have a great holiday season.
I also unironically love Skyrim. One of the common criticisms is that it's as Wide as an Ocean but the Depth of a Puddle. Like, yeah, but it's still as wide as an Ocean. The amount of freedom you get in that game is wonderful.
I'm actually replaying Skyrim and it's so relaxing. It's like comfort food. I love how chill the game is. That's kind of the point. I don't think I'd want Elderscrolls or Fallout to be like an action game such as God of War. I just love exploring and living in the world and talking to people and looking around and collecting stuff and developing everything I can in the game. Also, the lack of difficulty aids in not having to save constantly to avoid losing progress - let's you immerse yourself outside of the save mechanics, which I find more enjoyable. Saving constantly takes me out of it. And being a chill game, it's a good game to play when you're stressed out and need to escape. Hard games are not good for that and it's nice that games like Skyrim exist to fill in that void.
Mega Man 2... Damn that brings me back. This was also the first game in the series I played. I remember getting this for Christmas and I was so happy that I gave my mom the biggest hug, which for some reason did not happen very often lol.
Sometimes I dream about being a video game reviewer. Then I hear Bens presentation and realize I’m already defeated and 100 years of preparation wouldn’t help me.
It was written beforehand and Ben has several years of practice at writing reviews at a 'professional' level. If it's something you're interested in, give it a shot. Even if you do it simply for fun, there's no harm in building your writing & grammatical skills. Especially while expressing passion for something you love!
Mad love and respect to The Honorable Sir Don Casanova bringing the most admirable choice of all this Hall of Greats, being Sonic Mania. It may have not been inducted this time, but even for the gesture of doing so, and the beauty of his presentation atop that, this man has truly earned his title of nobility within the heart, mind and soul in this Ally. He truly did what no other Ally could ever in all the nearly 5 years EZA has been around: Brought a Sonic game to the Hall of Greats, and gave it the Love & Respect it deserves. And for that I salute you, Sir Don Casanova, on behalf of all Sonic fans in the Easy Allies community and beyond. If there's anyone I can call One of the Greats in games journalism, it's you.
I've watched every Hall of Greats and I can conclusively say that Ian's presentation is the best one yet. It also convinced me to try Final Fantasy Tactics.
I personally think that the strict time limit in past HoGs was actually part of the fun. It made for some good moments when someone didn't have the time to give an answer.
Silent Hill 2 is long, LONG overdue....it better get in.....some day. Two of my favs (both in my all-time top 5 list)- SH2 and SotC, but if I had to choose between the two it has to be SotC. But it's a tough choice still. Also, it must be said that I applaud Damiani how passionately he defended SotC. Every word spoken is 100% accurate. Man, this guy completely gets the game. I wish more people had his level of insight. Well said!
Excellent list of games and excellent presentations all around. Can not argue with who got in as they were all greats. That being said still hoping to see FF9 appear in that hall one day.
I played silent hill 2 for the first time ever just 2 months ago, it’s one of my favorite games of all time now and I was so excited to see it come up, I know it’ll get in there eventually
LOL Don is absolutely hilarious!!!! and he riffs so well with the other allies, it's honesty an absolute travesty we don't see more of him. He absolutely shines in hall of greats!
FF tactics is hard but you can grind- the story mission are locked in level/classes so you can crush them if you grind. And you get Op characters towards the end.
I played War of the Lions for my 1st time in FFT, and I was never bothered by the performance issues. I only really noticed them during magic casting but like....who cares? It's a turn-based game and big magic spells weren't the most common thing used. I feel like people debating between versions of FFT are wayyyy over-emphasizing minor lag....over the superior translation, FMVs, and Balthier.
For a brief moment I thought the result was gonna bw Dark Souls and Sonic Mania, which would have been a result perfectly catered to me specifically. I was glad to see Sonic get votes, he should have some representation in the Hall of Greats and Mania is the perfect candidate, not only being an outstanding game but also being representative of Sega's appreciation for its fans and dev community, in stark contrast to Nintendo.
*Spoilers* Opinions dood, just the way it goes. Presentation-wise felt Ben did the best here. And many could argue Don bought up many fine points with Sonic: Mania. I thought Bloods Katamari Damashii should have won one of the last HoG slots too. Also would love some Monster Hunter support, only person who will ever bring one is Ben, as I personally think they're better than Soulsborne games.
Wow, this round was packed! And Ian seems to have listened to the critique of his 'arthouse' presentations in the past. FFT is a game I'm gonna get to sooner or later! I also wonder, Why hasn't some of these been inducted before? I mean, half of the ones which have already made the list would not have done so if they were in this episode, regardless of which of the games they replaced. I guess it's gonna balance itself out in the end, but as of now, the list feels really inbalanced with some very noticable omissions and some questionable omissions. However, I will always love Ben for the way he made Paper Mario TTYD get included; It's my favorite game of all time.
I feel Huber though. I've run through like four or five different Hollow Knigh for HoG pitches in my head. (One about world building, one about level design, one about bosses, one about the little side stories and characters you may or may not find in your playthrough...)
i too, was most stuck at the apartment early on in Silent Hill 2. So glad I got to play the original PS2 copy on a CRT and not the HD collection at the time....wonder if they fixed the HD version by now tho
Ben's presentation was amazing. It made me clap for a minute. It was so intense and sincere. Still havent played any Silent hill but he definetly make me want to play it. Its amazing that nobody has bring Half Life to the hall of greats yet. Why?????? I miss too some of the greats of the PC world. Monkey Island, Maniac mansion, etc
Btw im not a mega man fan but mega man 2 is game history, its a game everyone I knew back on the NES talked about and atleast at some point played. It should be in the "hall of greats" and this is coming from a guy who wasnt a fan of it back in the day. I would personally have voted for FF tactics, but yeah mega man 2 was like having an arcade game in your living room, super hard but when you master it the game wasnt unfair at all or "hard", sick graphic and the music was awesome!
With Ian's pick. My all time favorite game but I did get to one boss fight that only allows your main character in solo and I just didn't have the right build to beat him. And I had one save file. That was saved going into the battle. Had to restart.
I think with Dark Souls 1 and SotC finally and deservedly making their long overdue entrances into the Hall of Greats, we’ve actually run out of undisputed bonafide legit CLASSICS that absolutely definitely belong in there. Breath of the Wild is the only outstanding candidate that *needs* to be in there but isn’t, yet. I can’t think of many more ‘sacred cow’ type games that unarguably belong in there. From here on out, I can’t imagine any potential new entrants living up to what’s already in there.
My personal votes for these choices would have been: 3 votes: Final Fantasy Tactics 2 votes: Shadow of the Collossus 1 vote: Silent Hill 2 How about everyone else?
Good try, Ian. FFT doesn't get proper respect despite being one of the best in the series and my personal favorite. Doesn't help that it's not available on basically any modern platforms.
I love Silent Hill 2 but at this point I want to get in just so that it'll go away. It feels like it's always at the Hall of Greats now. Ben's presentation was amazing but I think it's best chance of getting in now is just through wearing people down.
Huber never fails to hype up anything he's passionate about and it's always so natural. There's a reason why on every single Huber syndrome video (and some of the old Huber Hype vids) I've commented saying "Ultimate hype man". He's a champion and a dreamer👌
"I'll breathe when I'm dead"- Don Casanova, 2020
Brad's face lmao
Ben's speech really deserves its own video.
Ben takes care of us. Feeds us. He's our Dad.
Yup
I need to hear Jones read this 😅😆
“Konami keeps pissing on Silent Hill, and they never seem to run out of urine” -legendary
Ben is the strongest writer on the crew... which is saying a lot!
This was really one of the better HoG’s in a while. All of the presentations were great and the games deserved to be there.
Ben is legit one of the best in the business.
no doubt.
"because Konami is so gleefully happy to piss on a corpse and they never seem to run out of urine" immortal words of Ben Moore.
I just want to say.. I LOVE IT WHEN IAN TAKES IS PRESENTATION SERIOUS!!
sorry for the caps-screaming.. but man.. he doesn't know how strong he is!!!
Jones is like holy moly this guy Ben writes for my publication?
he has become so much better over the years, the metro review still brings a tear to my eye,
Don 'I'm just making small talk in anticipation of the cross-examination' Casanova
Don is not a man who finishes in 5 minutes
robbed.
Hall of Greats is maybe my favorite of your shows, and this was one of the best Hall of Greats. Awesome picks by all and good presentations, too.
This was an intensely strong group of games/presentations, well done y’all!
Like Jones, I unironically love Skyrim. I've put hundreds of hours into it across 3 different platforms split among multiple characters. Exactly, as much as I miss the older TES games and their stronger emphasis on RPG elements sometimes streamlined isn't always bad!
Its unfortunate that Skyrim turned into a meme, but it really is a great game.
A million with you.Its really weird how the Allies are treating the game of such importance. I mean i get it not being a favorite but you could feel the scorn pouring out of some people. I know the Hall is all fun and games but its definitely kinda weird.
In my mind, Don wins every time.
17:00 lol at Ben's spot-on gamer voice
42:20... omg that track is still instant chills. Squaresoft and music during those years... mindblowing even today.
Ben's speech was absolutely beautiful, I've been searching for a way to articulate my thoughts on Silent Hill 2 and he hit the nail on the head.
Everyone brought their A game!
30:25 a visibly choked up Huber moment, I'm guessing his brother and him might have bonded over SOTC quite a bit. Don't mean to call it out
Pleasantly surprised at the number of votes for Sonic Mania. Props to Don for bringing it. Fantastic game.

One of the best episodes of Hall of Greats I think. Great lineup of games, great writing on presentations, and great discussions!
Ben moore is truly THIS one guy who I could trust blindlessly no matter what.
His speech was beyond amazing.
And Silent Hill 2 is a true masterpiece.
Blindlessly? That's not a word.
@@Largentina. Sorry I'm not english, maybe blindly is the word but I think i made my point with a word that doesn't exist ^^
Ben truly and without a shadow of a doubt, is a living legend, the absolute goat of videogame journalism and content creation.
Three of my favourite games of all time there till the end. Amazing guys.
I hope the “long time coming” Easy Update is another book based episode!! More books, Ian!
My bet is on the Cyberpunk 2077 character creator.
I actually just finished dark souls for the first time earlier this week. Especially at 60fps that game is amazing. Accomplishment feeling is 10/10
Not having any Mega Man game in the Hall Of Greats yet hurts me lol, but I love the two games that made it so its all good.
This is really my favorite thing that you guys do. EZA followers since the very beggining. More power to you, Allies.

what an amazing list of nominees, great arguments all around, this is why we love this series.

Well deserved. Two of the greatest games ever, officially. No one can dispute it now, not that they ever did. :D
Brad brought Dark Souls to the first Hall of Greats and he finally got it in.
This is one of my favorite series...love it and keep brining these great games
Kudos to Damiani. Great set up.

Don brings the most interesting selection and one i would vote for. He was right about wave race and he is right now!
I vote Ben’s beard. It’s fantastic. Loved how agonizing this was for Ben during confessionals.

As much as I love Mania, it would be real weird for it to get in before s3&k. The greatest.
Would love to hear the rest of Dons presentation in a video sometime.
FF tactics is hard but you can grind- the story mission are locked in level/classes so you can crush them if you grind. And you get Op characters towards the end.

Excellent presentation from Ben
I wonder if they'll do a Hall of Greats for game studios. I could see Damiani campaign for Creative Business Division III.
Skyrim and Mega Man 2 got robbed
Snubbed!
Woah, spoilers. I was just scrolling got Ben praise, didn't need this. I guess it's my bad...

Nope. At least not officially. On pc maybe
That was a tough selection. I would be going back and forth between the two they chose and ff tactics.
Wow Ben don't ever stop being you.
also where can I see the full HOG list?
Hallofgreats.com has all the info
Btw im not a mega man fan but mega man 2 is game history, its a game everyone I knew back on the NES talked about and atleast at some point played.

3 votes: Final Fantasy Tactics
2 votes: Shadow of the Collossus
1 vote: Silent Hill 2
How about everyone else?
love huber's blanket and beard combo
Really thought Don was building up to Metal Gear there....!
I really wish the remaster of Dead Rising added being able to move slowly while aiming, it would really balance out the psychopath and boss fights.
how is it possible that it took 14 Hall of Greats to get Dark Souls!?
Somebody please bring BOTW or Hollow Knight one day
Cool idea for a video. It's important to memorialize the greats rather than always focusing on what's trending.
WOW what a line up. Great stuff.
Ow Brad.. braddy brad brad.
First you bring Chrono Trigger and now Dark Souls..
Frkn nailing it mate
Bloods pick was snubbed 😔
Personally the most deserving IMO was Damiani’s and Bloods. Though I loved Dons pick as well
Lmao Jones with the shut up vote
