She deserved it. She’s so confident! Her story is inspiring and she has a strong advocacy for education in her country. If you follow her story, her family is from and still lives in a village in the mountains of Laos. She ascended from poverty to where she is now, she’s using her struggle as a gateway to help others. Truly beautiful with a heart.

@@justinN19426 *Yes, I agree! Miss Laos is beautifully confident and authentic in its truest sense! This, hopefully, will change the perspective of many, as she is an eye opener! It is not just about being gorgeous, but also possess an innate SUBSTANCE, knowing the core of sustainability, and staunch advocate of a cause. This then makes one transformational and a positive influencer. I personally believe, that a Miss Universe should be a trailblazer in her own right, making her a force for good and be an inspiration to all. Thank you! Isabella : )*

@@minsankapamilya464 *Well, and I don’t mean to steal anyone’s thunder; Evidently, it is a WELL-EARNED TOP 16 spot for Miss Laos, nonetheless!*
*Like Payengxa Lor and others in top 16 who were not so favored by “experts”, send a rep who has a natural beauty, good moral character with class, someone who speaks with substance and a cause, and let the chips fall where they may. You don’t need your whole country behind you, a true winner goes out there with true self-confidence and defines her true self and then conquers it all ! And that’s when it is a sweet victory for not only yourself but for the whole country as well. Thank you! : )*

It's amazing to see the power of a Hmong woman finding her voice, finding her confidence, learning the value of her mind and her abilities, and becoming an advocate using her voice and her skills is truly extraordinary. I'm reminded of Michelle Obama who once said, the measure of any society of how it treats its women. This is the power of what a Hmong woman can do when she is loved and recognized as a person in her own right, not just someone's daughter or someone's wife.

She's letting the universe know that it was not easy for her to be where she is at because growing up in a patriarchy culture, 3so many limits are set for her just because she is a woman. She realized that learning English can help her break boundaries and increase her chances for a better future. Yes, there are toxic pageant fans from the Ph as there are in other countries as well. But please don't generalise all Ph pageant fans as toxic. I was rooting for Celeste, but when I saw Laos during the prelim, somehow I knew that she would be included in top 16

She is very articulate despite the accent, and she is really a standard bearer of old culture women suffering even up to this day and age. Education is the right equipment for all women so they can find their right on their own chosen path. She deserved to be in the finals.

Very genuine. I'm so proud of her for learning English, and in 4 months! Though her grammar is not the best, she was great!!!

She's not born native english speaker so its normal. Perfect english is a formal one.
