Thank you po for all the support! This is a high school choir based in BC, Canada. As some of you have assumed, yes, some of us are Filipino. We helped our choir director and the other non-Filipinos with the pronunciation of the Tagalog words :)
Filipino folk songs are getting popular in the world much like european classical songs. Just wow! Bet its in part because of the popularity of the philippine madrigal singers.
Daryl Pingol It was actually started by a US based filipino music teacher George Hernandez, when he was asked to cook up a foreign music for all the participants of the international choral festival in Barcelona to sing together in 1995. Rosas pandan rose to fame. The others just followed.
@vegans are idiots Wrong it was not popular because it was started by someone, Filipino folk songs are good to sing in choir because of uniqueness - Simple structure. Its melody (song or tune) is singable. It is sung in a relaxed and easy voice. It is either in duple or triple meter. It consists simple harmony (pleasing combination or arrangement of different things)
wow! this brought a tears to my eyes...coz I remember my grandma used to listen to this song on her transistor radio when I was a li'l kid in L.A. it's an old classic filipino song!

Filipino ako pero Hindi ko Alam paano ito kantahin... I'm so proud they were able to execute the song perfectly and even the accents were really well rehearsed.
Ive been seeing comments like "i wish true filipinos can appreciate folk songs more". But actually guys, we've been singing this for years, y'all just not part of a choir or something(before you attack me, I'm a member of a choir and a soprano at that)
I am a filipino and i am so very thankful to these people for singing our song.. They really made a great job the accent is perfect... Thank you for using our song in sharing your talent... Thank you guys..
Looks like there’s a lot of Filipino-looking kids here😄 I can hear our Tagalog “accent” somewhere in here (I know it’s a Tagalog song but SOME Pinoys are somehow singing this. Otherwise I’m wrong so be it).😊
I am glad Filipino songs are popular to sing in international choir competition. I can still remember some songs we sang in our college school choir, such as lliili Tulog Anay, Sa Kabukiran, Pandanggohan, Lawiswis Kawayan, Rosas Pandan, etc. Truly Filipino music!
