I’ve been listening to Reggae drummers and Stewart Copeland my whole life…while playing guitar. Just started playing the drums at home…I know the beats in my head…but getting that easy ‘swing’ feel is a struggle at the moment! Thanks for an amazing lesson that will hopefully snap me out of my expectation fear…and it will just click soon! I have a nice vintage Tama kit and vintage Pearl COB snare. Everything is set up properly. Just learning to separate my limbs and really can’t wait to swing on the hi-hat!

What advice do you give about using crash on 1 in reggae (one drop especially)? If you do so, would you delete the bass on 2 in that bar to stop the basses bunching up and obstructing that usual bass flow?

Very good video. I'm not a drummer. Just wanted to learn realistic drum fills to use in my DAW.
I would recommend a bit slower on the snare and high hat count before doing the full fill. Also a sideview angle for the camera so we can see the snare. Thanks again.

Hi, I have been playing drums for 1 year now (reggae mainly) and my question is.... Should I learn how to play the hi hats with the left hand the way you do it? I already started playing the hats with my right hand though.
Do you play that way for any special reason? Your left hand technique is sick. Thanks for posting videos, they are all amazing.
