My career has been in energy efficiency but have always been interested in hydronic systems and love watching your videos because of that content. I'm thrilled to see you putting out electrification videos, I think it will be really helpful getting people on board! If nothing else, get that IRA money while you can!

Mike I love your videos, very professional your work all times, now on this one I noticed some really small details that you can do it better; *Drain lines: Convert to PVC once are outside the line cover ( better and more professional look) Line covers: you can find a lot of fittings for all connections like T, Reducers and Caps ( better and more professional look) But overall really nice and clean work and to get all done in just one day is perfect 👍 Saludos!!! These air to air heat pumps been standard here in Europe for the last 10 years. Big push here no with Air to water heat pumps the connect to the underfloor and go through unvented hot water cylinder.
I’m actually they’ve been there a lot longer than 10 years. They’ve been there for probably about 40 or 50 years just about same amount of time. It’s been here in the states you know the other side of the pond. If you are in the Long Island, New York City metropolitan area and you need a local HVAC contractor give us a call at 516-348-6300 or safe time book online at PipeDoc.net
At one point in history, "Made in Japan" carried the same connotation as 'Made in China". They were inexperienced, poorly equipped cheap factories. But as capabilities improve, so do the products. China is already developing to the point where its no longer the cheapest place to make things.
Nice Installation ! ! ! Which Brand of Digital Torque wrench 🔧 do you prefer “Yellow-Jacket” “NAVAC” “HILMOR” or CPS Black-Max ???? Thanks in advance for your recommendation….
Hey Mike what are your thoughts on insulating the thermostats to the wall? There was a video made not too long ago from HVAC Talk show on RUclips showing how much the wall temperature can affect the accuracy of the thermostats.
Only benefit of old steam based systems, is if the power goes out, you can run the boiler from batteries (easiest are those $100-120 300 watt hour power stations) for quite a long time since there is no circulation pump or any other high wattage equipment. Though for fuel usage, they are very inefficient.

for future reference, a sheet metal screw of any kind is against electrical code. it has to be machine screw thread, with flat/blunt end and it's generally fine thread 10-32 size, with a washer head. 🤓 adjusts nerd glasses. lol
Just cos it says made in Thailand it means assembled in Thailand from Chinese parts. I have had awful experiences with sheet metal so called comes from Thailand holes in wrong spots have to literally bend it by hand to get it to fit.
wait until they get their electric bill 🤣 or decide they want EV's and need to charge them both, take a shower and do laundry, while the home is heating. lmao, melt the main breaker or service entrance right off, then need to get a 400amp upgrade! lmao. I see the lonely natural gas meter, if it was mine there'd be a natural gas steam boiler there, with maybe the heat pump units still to handle a/c and some fall/spring heating. the oil needs abandoned, but the proper way will cost them fortunes. the government should offer free tank removals and contamination abatement if they really want to help anything out. then again, I'm sure they'd fully screw that up as well.
Well, they have 200 A of service now they should be good for quite some time there next lateral move, which would be a great investment would be to install PV solar panels on their roof
We have been installing in Europe these super duper mega energy efficient heat pumps since 2005 😂 ( NOT CHINISIUM BRANDS LIKE GREE OR COOPER & HUNTER ☝️☝️) I'm surprised that Americans GOT TO TASTE THEM ONLINE NOW 🤭🤭
the ground screws are probably from china and aluminum or a very poor metal. I noticed issues on screws in many thing, including electrical devices and breaker panel neutral/ground bars(all brands I've dealt with so far) anything post 2018 seems to have went south. no quality and everything seems to be alpha stage development level released upon the public.
it's a shame the mini-splits and many central inverters are made in asia - because north american manufacturers aren't interesting in making their own models/products of this class.
$ in rebates, $$$$ in price increases on utilities. Rebates are a method of taxing poor families and wealth re-distribution from those poorer families to richer families. The NY Clean Heat programs only permit specific equipment with specific ratings to cover the entire home which is out of reach for average home owners, and unrealistic and unattainable for lower income home owners. Then NYS wants to ban Gas and Oil, which is highly efficient and relatively clean. Most installers raise the price of these installations to consume the rebates in higher installation costs, which spill over to a new average price for installs, sometimes call "Make the trades great". i'm in the trade and I cannot afford the NY Clean Heat program for my own home.
yes, it is! we'll check back in 5 years when it's all going haywire and either nobody will fix it or the labor costs more than replacement again. lol if it makes it that long(electronics in everything and none of them last long) **brand aside**
@@throttlebottle5906 why check back 5 years?!? Been working on ductless and VRF for 8 years now, come across units from 2011/2012 all the time still running. Hate this bitter attitude , embrace change
Junk because the equipment that is being installed in USA at this moment is D GRADE ! Not even B grade 😂😂😂 I rarely see Panasonic being installed or even Mitsubishi ( MHI ) .
Keep it real Mike. U need to convert (means never use oil again) to get that $11k rebate....total lib scam...so ur new heating system is ductless forced hot air ....and ductless AC in summer.
Rebates and substitutes are a distribution of wealth.

True, indeed come on
standing pilot gas fireplaces and wall furnaces are the best for that -> don't even need a battery!
Happy Friday Mike! Enjoy the weekend sir!

Are those rebates instant and come off the price or come when you do your taxes and get a refund?
No, you are. It’s a check that comes the mail after all of the paperwork is submitted and if quality control decides to inspect the installation.

Yup. Just like AutoZone
do you have any air to water heat pump?
I’ve installed one in Central Florida for a customer, but I have not installed any heat pumps here in New York air to water

Think of the money they will save from not using expensive heating oil. Remember when heating oil got up to 6 dollars a gallon 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
oil heats best........(at least I think so- and when it breaks, I can fix it easily no matter what the problem)

@@Steve-bm2zm that's true. I don't have a particularly large house and in the winter (NY) it cost me about $1200/month to heat our house.
