  • This video takes another problem on Recycle involving reactive systems. Unlike problems taken in previous lectures, the basis chosen here is not the feed stream or the product stream. Since the composition and flow rate of one of the process streams is known, so it is selected as basis. The general approach to the problem remains the same. We figure out the subsystem where degree of freedom is zero and start our calculations from there. The composition of the process stream is given in weight fractions and the flow rate in moles per unit time. So, in the beginning of the video, a quick recap is given how to convert weight percentage into mole percentage. After obtaining the balanced flowsheet, overall conversion and single pass conversion are calculated. It was demonstrated, through this example, that even though your overall conversion increases but the extent of reaction remains the same irrespective of whether one calculates it based on overall change in the number of moles or the change in the number of moles in the reactor.

hi dr .In the molecular species balance why not using consumption ?

no reactions taking place .Only in the reactor a consumption and generation term will arise
