At first, I wasn't going to watch Zexal because everyone says it was the worst. Then I watched it. I can see why some people didn't like it, with Zexal feeling like it borrowed story aspects from Duel Monsters (Young boy accidentally awakens ancient/ alien spirit and must help said spirit find his memory) but I liked the characters in Zexal more than DM. Zexal felt like a comedy at first, but then in Zexal II, the series felt like it got darker in story telling. Overall, I'm enjoying Zexal and will start the final arc tomorrow. It's not the best Yugioh, but I wouldn't call it the worst. Watching Zexal made me understand the flaws of 5D's and not praise it as much as most people do. I also enjoyed all the intros and endings (except 3rd arc's ending) and find myself humming to them (and failing to pronounce every single syllable). EDIT: Finished the final arc. It was worth watching from start to end. I think I shed more tears on this series than DM and 5D's. The story does get better, and that fight on the moon... I was not expecting that ending.
Am I the only one who thoroughly enjoyed 5D's. To me it's the best yugioh series, then comes D's first one, then GX and then ZEXAL, even thought it's really hard for me to say that zexal it's the one I enjoyed the least because I really love some of the aspects and characters of it. But the battles in zexal were too much formulaic and I know that that happens in the others series, but in this precise one, they exaggerated it to the point I knew how the battle was.going to progress (ironic spoiler alert: some monster with over 9000 attack points wins the duel, not even kidding). Nash and Marin are more heartbreaking when you realise that we never actually meet the real Shark nor Rio because that actually died in that car crash. Nash and Marin were basically borrowing their bodies - I’d also go a limb and say that Abyss pulled the strings with the Acrlights because tieing shark with them meant Shark would get involved with Yuma and it worked.

The original Ryoga Kamishiro and Rio Kamishiro were their own people until they died in the car accident. When Abyss sent the souls of Nasch and Merag to earth, stripping them of their memories as Barian, they inherited the memories of the original Ryoga and Rio, and went on to live their lives. This is why the doctors were so shocked that the two children that they just declaired dead were suddenly alive again. As for the Acrlight connects, thats a bit of a stretch.

But since Nash and Merag's souls were put inside their body, their body came body came back to life. I really liked this one at first it's really childish -well it's aimed to kids-, but it got better with time and it has a lot of characters and a nice story. This one has a special place in my heart.

Of the 6 Japanese Zexal Openings this is my number 1 favorite followed by OP 5 Dualism of Mirrors and OP 3 Soul Drive. This OP is like the Yu-Gi-Oh Anime Version of A Cruel Angel's Thesis first few seconds of the song you are like in prayer mode then the rest of the song you dance and jam hard to the beats of this song.

The thing is that Yuma and Astral's spirits are always high even in the darkest of times, and whether that is shown or not in some episodes, it's how they're perceived throughout the show as a whole. If you really think about it, it matches perfectly.
I'm here after Go Rush started getting dark. Reminded me so much of ZeXal. If there's any ZeXal fans out there reading this comment, you should give Go Rush a chance. The series stars Yudias Velgear, he is a mix of Yuma and Astral. A bit of Yuma's newcomerhood and naiveté and also Astral in the sense that he comes from another world. The series starts off a little goofy, but after 52 eps, things start getting real serious. If you stopped watching after ZeXal, don't worry. You don't need to watch Arc-V, VRAINS or Sevens to understand this one. It has some ties to Sevens but you can understand it just fine. For me, it's as good as VRAINS and definitely better than Sevens, GX and Arc-V. Edit: Unfortunately the darkness of Go Rush was just a phase. It just went back to being funny again. I thought we were gonna get a darker show but I was wrong. It got a bit more serious for like 12 eps then returned to being funny again. It's a good funny show but don't expect the darkness of the Varian arc

Zephyr Blaze Actually the whole thing that he 'lost' during the invasion was his 'soul' so to speak. He lost the ability to enjoy dueling and that was a major part of his personality. And Kotori doesn't count. She isn't a duelist.
He didn't lose his soul just the ability to enjoy a duel through fun means just like jaden in gx and yes kotori does count being that you said everyone in the start lineup and she is in the start lineup.

Sometimes it's both amusing and pathetic that there people who didn't this opening, mainly cuz they think it didn't fit with all the action of the show.
I feel like Zexal is is honestly way better than the original anime. The original manga is just a masterpiece but the anime was so much of a mess.... While Zexal just takes some aspects of it and improves them. ZEXAL II was the best thing to have ever happened to yugioh appart from the Dark signers arc And yes, to me, Yuma was a really good protagonist.
Although we need 2 more Arcs for the first Zexel series since we have no clue what the Yellow world is but it is not the Human Word it could be another world called “Infinite World”. The 3rd Arc will be Infinite Saga The 4th Arc will be Pruto Saga and it is a War Arc where all 3 Worlds Astral Barian and Infintie haven’t a world war on Zexel World and all of them were targeting Yuma.

ZEXAL was good but towards the end it got progressively darker... to the point where it was just too much for the show itself. Everyone was dying left and right to raise stakes when I knew in the back of my mind it would all be wrapped up neatly with a bow at the end. Everyone loves a darker story but it got to point where it was too dark for the joy and lighter side of ZEXAL and the core tone of the show. Not even 5D's was this dark. The Barian arc was the Dark Signer arc cranked up to 11 in a lot of bad ways.
Whatever happened to the next season of Zexal ot was supposed to happen jext thing we know we get ARC V like what happened you set up the next season perfectly on the last episode and then just skipped it

I seriously think this should have been the ending and Challenge the Game should have been the opening. Why these songs weren't swapped confuses me as this sounds more like an ending theme to me.

@@kallyemersonraimundo1078 amo demais zexal, o que eu mais gosto é como o anime mostra no final que parece que realmente tá tudo perdido, não a esperança, e quando vc vai ver existe uma forma de ganhar e isso é incrível principalmente com um protagonista como o yuma, que sempre sofreu muito e sempre viveu em muito perigo mas sempre teve esperança mesmo que nem luz existisse!

Sometimes it's both amusing and pathetic that there people who didn't this opening, mainly cuz they think it didn't fit with all the action of the show.
This series had so many story-lines!
I feel like Zexal is is honestly way better than the original anime. The original manga is just a masterpiece but the anime was so much of a mess.... While Zexal just takes some aspects of it and improves them. ZEXAL II was the best thing to have ever happened to yugioh appart from the Dark signers arc
And yes, to me, Yuma was a really good protagonist.
Although we need 2 more Arcs for the first Zexel series since we have no clue what the Yellow world is but it is not the Human Word it could be another world called “Infinite World”. I know you don’t believe me and I know it doesn’t make sense but I will prove to Konami that I’m right. They didn’t mention that world for a reason maybe it’s because they are forbidden and Astral World and Barian World should not battle them because they are so powerful. They can create their Numbers by using a monster to steal the DNA of a Number or an XYZ Monster or a Special Summoned monster to turn itself into a Number that’s related to them.
The 3rd Arc will be Infinite Saga
The 4th Arc will be Pruto Saga and it is a War Arc where all 3 Worlds Astral Barian and Infintie haven’t a world war on Zexel World and all of them were targeting Yuma.

ZEXAL was good but towards the end it got progressively darker... to the point where it was just too much for the show itself. Everyone was dying left and right to raise stakes when I knew in the back of my mind it would all be wrapped up neatly with a bow at the end. Everyone loves a darker story but it got to point where it was too dark for the joy and lighter side of ZEXAL and the core tone of the show.
Not even 5D's was this dark. The Barian arc was the Dark Signer arc cranked up to 11 in a lot of bad ways.

Whatever happened to the next season of Zexal ot was supposed to happen jext thing we know we get ARC V like what happened you set up the next season perfectly on the last episode and then just skipped it
It wasnt a setup for a next season. It was an open ended ending. Its in case they want to return to it. They did it with Vrains too.
