The Knicks are building a team to beat the teams in the East. How did the Heat beat the Knicks last year? Three Point shooting. How did the Pacers beat them this year? Three point shooting. What would be the X-Factor in a series against Boston? Three point shooting. These moves give them elite perimeter defense and makes them much deeper with a more productive bench.
If they didn't pony up at least $41-42 million, he would have signed elsewhere and its about what people thought he was going to make. As for the picks for Bridges, who else were they going to trade for? Was Bam available? Perfect fit for the Knicks. Jokes aside, seriously, who was available? Mitchell, doesn't fit. Booker, Tatum, Doncic, KAT aren't leaving their teams. George? Too old and injury prone. Another thing to consider is the emergence of Brunson and building around him. I would venture to guess that the Knicks may not be done and I wouldn't be surprised if they shipped Randle out and replaced him with a big that provides elite scoring and defense. Then they really have a team that can compete with anybody. Absolutely ridiculous salary for a man who only played a little over 70 games once in 8 years, plus, things are getting far worse at his career progresses. The numbers for this kind of salary are also not there. If I came to work 52% of the time, I wouldn't have a job, and either would you. It will eventually cause salary problems, as the other four starting players on our knicks team are also going to want to get paid the lovely dollars on par with what OG is gettin paid. Let's just hope that the salary cap in the future is just as lovely. SMH.

Doesn't make sense to give O.G. that much when you just traded for Bridges, already have Brunson and then there's DiVencizo who has outplayed his contract. I think they'll all be eligible for extentions in a year or two. I know Bruson has two years left. I guess that last year has some kind of player option. Still have Randell on a large contract. Guess NY has money to burn. This is bad news for Hart though. He's not getting anywhere near the minutes he got this year next year.

Agreed. Everything this front office has touched has turned to gold. With no stars available what's the next best thing to do? Add to the culture and chemistry. They're a gutty team that plays tooth to nails basketball and will be a handful for any team that plays them. They can shut down the perimeter, deny the paint, and have a bench that outscores the opponent.
