- The Kodiak Sharpening System from Woodturners Wonders is the most current and innovative option when it comes to sharpening lathe turning tools. It is built around the use of CBN wheels that don't ever reduce in size.

I just visited the Woodturners Wonders booth in Chattanooga, TN at the American Association of Woodturners Symposium. This is a great tool. Thanks for the video. Hope you guys had a good trip to Chattanooga. The Cajun.
Thanks- It was a pleasure meeting you.
DID YOU MAKE THAT HAT?!!! LOVE IT. WILL BE PURCHASING THIS VERY SOON!
You guys have put a lot of thought into this tool!
Ken - Amazing work and detail! Thank you for all you do for us sharpeners out there!!!
@@WoodturnersWonders Thanks for the kind words! Always appreciated.
Sharpening is difficult for many new turners to grasp quickly. Looks like your Kodiak system should help lower the learning curve by keeping it simple.
This looks like the greatest sharpening system ever. Saving my pennies to get one someday to add on to my wolverine system. Really great looking system Ken!
I just ordered the system. I can't wait to get it!
@@WoodturnersWonders thanks
How long will it take to ship to California?
Nice system. I am new to wood turning and yet to purchase my sharpening system. I plan to go with a Rikon with CBN wheels and may go with the Kodiak sharpening system as well. Thanks for the video.
That hat is definitely worth talking about...
Can you make a video in the future on turning a new "regular" bowl gouge and into a swept back bowl gouge using the Kodiak system?
WOW!!! Great Video!!! :)
Ken, will be interesting how well its received by the numerous turning clubs I belong to, will see you at Totally Turning.
@@WoodturnersWonders No Totally Turning the last 2 years but it is on the books for March 26th and 27th 2022 in Saratoga Springs, NY so I've yet to see your well engineered sharpening system.
Ken, I have a good grinder. Can I buy the wheel and the arms only. Prices please.
It's so easy (Even a caveman can do it). LOL It looks like a great product.
40/40 Batty style grind?
Ken I was wondering if the Kodiak system has the ability to sharpen other woodworking tools aside from lathe turning tools. I can see where it could work for bench chisels, but also what about knife sharpening? If we have invested the money for your system it would be really great if we had the ability to sharpen our kitchen knives, carving knives etc. The CBN wheels are perfect for knives but of course we need some type of fixture to support the knife. Have you got anything in the works to address this issue?
We are currently developing a knife sharpening and drill bit sharpening attachment for the Kodiak.
@@kenrizza4146 That's fantastic - both items are sorely needed in both residential for the knife sharpening and also in industry for a drill bit sharpener. As a retired machinist, I currently use a Drill Doctor for my drills - it works ok on 118 degrees but it's a piece of crap for 135 degrees. I hope you can put that thing to bed..... if you want a Beta tester let me know.......
Do you have a FLAME MAPLE HAT!!!?
Hi Ken, what is the setting for 40/40 grind for bowl gouge?
A 40/40 grind can be achieved by setting the tool rest at 40 degrees, then turn the gouge flute side down until the whole cutting edge is flattened equally all the way around. Then set it in the basic bowl grind position and cut away the flattened area until a razor edge is achieved. We will be doing a video on this soon.
Looks a great system, but didn't seem to give any single facet grinds on the bowl gouges....am I missing something ?
Facets are easy to do by moving the swivel head from A to B or add a spacer on the Swivel head post.
