I am literally in the garage right now installing a bunch of kit ordered from Taco Moto Co.. Mike, thanks again for all your help over email. The Motodash, Voyager Pro and mount, PDM60, and the Seat Concepts seat installed quite easily. Braaaap!
Last year I gotten bitten by the technical adventure riding, started with Ridaho Grit3 with a friend and went back and did it solo at the end of the season. I really is amazing being out in the back country alone or just with a friend. This year we are doing Ridaho Grit4+Grit3 as a team of two and then I will do the Tour of Idaho Solo. I got my self a new 2021 350 XCFW over the winter and Mike at TacoMoto.Co was incredible at help me with the best upgrade parts for this type of riding!
oh so in two weeks i’m going for a 20 days solo trip through Ukrainian Carpathian mountains, got all sorts of cool tracks prepped. Did a number of smaller trips in the region and some expeditions towards Black Sea with my 790 and lots of street tours in Europe before that, - but this would be my first 500 long trip. wish me luck!
I have this bike! 2016 KTM 500exc six days still mostly stock. MABDR is next , it's in my back yard. Fuel mileage is my main concern so far. Still riding light and no camping yet. I did the dual bead lockers / heavy duty tube / Motoz Tractionator Rallz tires. Tire balance is really nice at highway speed. 2200 miles is all so far on the ODO, mostly single track and offroad.
62 year old lightweight adventure rider, bike of choice 2015 500exc. Using the Altrider gear, a little primitive compared to some but works for me. A little envious of all the newest gear available now but got to say my bike is dialed. Love your content especially the bike showcases. See you all out on the trails.
I live in Western New York and mainly ride dual sport/dirt road style stuff on my DRZ. I really enjoy these videos to see how others are setting up bikes for their use case. Makes me want to upgrade from the DRZ eventually.
Great video. On your website now looking at those fork mounted signals. Great content, could watch stuff like this all day instead of working lol. Thanks!!
I've only used the Clake, out of Australia, LHRB but it is a very nice set up. Clake's SLR is a great piece of kit, bracket slips over your existing clutch master cyl. makes everything tidy.
I've the 2015 501. I do have the R80 and no issues so far, the sub frame seems to be holding it. Just got back from a long solo trip through Nevada. I was definitely crossing my fingers the bike would stay running. The area is just so big and there were places where I didn't see anyone for 100 miles. I'm thinking of getting a capacitor, that in addition to a battery booster should keep things in line. I'm just wondering what spare relays and fuses you would recommend bringing along. Attempting the IDBDR this July alone. Thanks.
I literally have 95 % of that setup on my 16 501:) 16k and counting. Cheers all!! Does anybody know where RTMP got the graphics for his tank? I have the same one and would love it to not look like a DR... LOL
As a former repo guy and a non meth head I can get your bike by the time you walk into the store without anyone even noticing/ caring with or without cables or keys. Luckily for the us most theft is done by morons so a simple lock and cable and not parking in bad spot will keep you golden. PS repo work sucks and will break your heart more than it is exciting.

Keep after it amigo🤘🏽
Cause the 500 is like, 100lb lighter than a KLR and about double the power. Give or take.

That's ALOT of luggage. I think I would have used a DR650 for this task.
He’s packed for 4 seasons as it’s spring in the west and snow is likely
Ah. Cool fellow New Hampshire rider..

So you put in heavy duty tubes and you put slime in as a preventative measure?
How’s that work out?
How much slime.
Any draw backs?
Yes
Great
8-10 oz rear, 6-8 in the front
None that I can see
nice, I have same bike but 17' model.
Holy kitchen sink batman
Where did you get the button USB?
What is the total weight less rider. Wow.
377 as shown in the video w a half tank of gas
@@TACOMOTOCO that’s alot lighter than my 890 Adventure R. I hope it handles ok with all that extra weight.
How much u think it weighs fully loaded?
