So looking forward to this. I have read four of the books and have four more on my shelves. I plan to read those and any others that I can get from my library here in U.K.
Really appreciate the participation from others, to help make this list, and what you’ve personally done for Canadian readers Jolene!🥰 To get started, I’m challenging myself and joining in with reading one book ( for now) for each month leading up to Dec. I noticed I have a few on my tbr shelf already so that was a plus. Just terrific! Go Best Can Lit!😀👏🇨🇦
We definitely couldn't have done it without everyone's help. Thank you for your kind words. I love your plan going forward and hope you enjoy the books you choose. Keep us posted and join in discussions if you wish. 😊💙
So fun! Thx! I printed the pdf. I've read 17 of the books so far. Not too bad for a lower 48er! I have a Discord account, but I recently deleted it from my phone so that I could focus on off-screen activities. It's there, and maybe I'll return to it someday. For now, I'll follow along with the schedule and the printed pdf. I'm excited to read more 'top-listed' CanLit!
I picked up a copy of Mercy Among the Children from a used book store on my way home yesterday after listening to this video so I am ready to start. I had only read 6 of the 67 previously, not really surprising but it alerts me to more Canadian literature. I have also joined the Storygraph challenge.
Oh - great idea! I will definitely be joining in, although I may not be able to read the books during the selected period but will try when I can for the books I still wish to read. As an aside, I am currently reading Denison Avenue by Christina Wong & Daniel Innes - had I read it before the voting it might have made my top 10, I am loving it that much 😀 (Still feeling nosy & hope to hear what the rest of the 300+ books were)
Barbra, rest assured that Jolene and I will be talking about the other books in the future, the ones that didn’t make the top 67. All will be revealed!
Denison Avenue is a lovely read. It has stayed with me. Happy that you will be joining in whenever you can. Lindy and I will be revealing all of the books, I promise. 😊💙
Love it!! I may not be able to read them all but I love Canlit. Did Louise Penny make the list I hope. Haven’t checked the list yet. Update. Louise Penny made the list. I may reread Still Life. I’m most excited about reading Emily St. John and also the books about indigenous people.
I will join you with The Blind Assassin first - it is already on its way to me. I checked my local library and I will be able to get 38 books out of 67. Seems doable for this readalong, but let's see, how life goes. Thank you for arranging this activity! ❤
I am so happy!!! I will definitely participate, what a great project. I don’t have a particular title or author in my sights, but I am very interested in indigenous authors.🤗
It will be wonderful to have you participate. There are several Indigenous authors on the list beginning with the second book we will be reading in September. 😊💙
Great idea and the organization of reading the older books first means they will likely be in libraries. Thank you for this project too. I won’t read everything but a lot. I liked Mercy among the children. It is complicated and sad.
Thanks Laureen. My hope is that the older books will be easier to find and by the time we get to the end of the read along, the books will be two years old. I'm looking forward to getting back to Mercy Among The Children. 😊💙
This is a great idea, and I look forward to joining in. I'm looking forward to reading The Break by Katherena Vermette as I've had it on my TBR for a fair while now.
I’ve not read nearly enough Atwood so I’m drawn to The Blind Assassin. Though I have Oryx and Crake and Maddaddam on my tbr - Alice and I were planning to read that trilogy as part of a dystopian/apocalyptic project we were playing around with the idea of for far too long.
If you are up to it, join us in reading The Blind Assassin. It's a chunky but it didn't feel like it when I read it. The MaddAddam trilogy is really interesting. My favourite of the three was Oryx and Crake. 😊💙
Part of me really wants to join, but I know that if I were to do so, I'd fall behind quickly because there are so many other books I also want to read...
This is such a fun idea. I'm tentatively interested, but current life chaos suggests it may not go well. I have read about half of them, so that helps, lol. However, FOMO is also strong, so of course now I really want to do it. ETA: for some reason, the discord invite didn't work for me.
Yes, reading many of the books does help. You can always pick a few to read. You don't have to do them all. It's a huge commitment and life definitely happens. Happy to have you participate in any way that works for you. Thanks for the heads up about discord. I will look into it. Are you able to search for my server on discord and find me that way? We will get you in. 😊💙
The group conversation opened on discord on Sept 14. Lindy and I haven’t talked about it individually, if that makes sense. If you’d like to join the discussion, you are most welcome. Let me know if you need the link for that. 😊💙
@@BookwormAdventureGirl I don't have Voxer anymore. If you go to the invite area and click it at the bottom it should say "edit invite link." Click that and choose "Never."

@@BookwormAdventureGirl Will do!
This is a brilliant idea! I’m going to print the list out and see which ones I think I can join in with 🤩
Yayyy, so excited. Would love for you to join all of the ones you are interested in. 😊💙
Oh how exciting - I found you through watch Canada reads past few years and was looking for more this sounds brilliant!
Wonderful to have you here. Glad you found me and I look forward to reading with you. 😊💙
Started Suzanne by Anais Barbeau-Lavelette and loving it. I plan to read one book per month from list. Thank you so much. ❤
I'm hoping to start Suzanne shortly for Women in Translation. So glad you are loving it. Please, keep us posted on the books you read each month. 😊💙

Your project inspired me to pick up Doppleganger which I have already started! Thanks for the Storygraph challenge and the pdf!
