Hi Don. That was done for the 50th Anniversary of CMA awards show. Thanks for rating it. Recorded before the show. The one I can think of that was missing was Garth Brooks, which is hard to understand because Trisha Yearwood was in it. There were others missing also, Kathy Mattea for one. Great review. Appreciate it. Happy New Years to all.

Garth is not surprising to me at all given how picky he is about controlling his music and performances, although this does feel like a case where he would have made an exception.

He had another commitment that could not be changed when they were filming this. He said he hated to not be there but it was just a case of bad timing.

The Country Music Association commissioned this song to honor 50 years of the CMA Awards. It was recorded over three days in Nashville during June 2016 with Shane McAnally as producer. The single was released on September 16, 2016.
The song is a newly-recorded mashup of John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads," Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" and Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You." Denver passed away in 1997, but Parton and Nelson are both featured on the track, along with 28 other artists from across generations of the country genre. They are:
Alabama, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Brett Eldredge, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Ronnie Milsap, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley, Charley Pride, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Trisha Yearwood.

It's a nice video. But for celebrating 50 yrs of Country Music....where are all the older singers like Loretta Lynn, Brenda Lee, the Statler Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Bill Anderson, Tanya Tucker, Charly McClain, Sylvia, T. G. Sheppard, Donna Fargo, Connie Smith, the Gatlin Brothers, Gail Davies, Hank Jr., Jessi Colter, Barbara Mandrell & her sisters, Marie Osmond, Oak Ridge Boys & so many others??? I know they're not ALL dead at this time. Would of been nice to see more of them. I also think Ricky Scaggs, Marty Stuart, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, The Whites, Bailey and the boys, Girls next Doors should of been included. They also could of put images of the greats who have passed away like Johnny & June, Tammy & George, Conway Twitty, Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Lynn Anderson,Hank Sr., Merle Haggard. Man, l could name so many more but l will stop.

Oh that's a super request Farm Daddy, what a great surprise. I remember it from the CMA show, but I'd never seen it since. Man does it ever work well, and it holds up over time too! Right about Kathy, I didn't see Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, or Lorrie Morgan. Thanks so much Farm Daddy, and thanks Don for another great reaction. Also Happy Boxing Day to all Canadians out there!

When you said that most people associate "I will always love you" with Whitney Houston. You are probably right. However those of us raised up listening to country music know that Dolly owns that song. Don't get me wrong I love Whitney's rendition of that song as well, but Dolly does that song best in my opinion, because she wrote the song.

As a young boy in Czech Republic I was growing up with many of these singers in 90s. Feeling like I was the only one listening country music and this masterpiece is always making me cry in my 40s... damn... I´m just missing Shania, Garth and The Chicks in this.

Kicking myself for not thinking to request this one, but glad you got to experience it. My guess is that the video was put together using green screens for each of the artists and then building the background digitally around them (and merging the different green screen shots of different artists into that compilation at the end).

I know this version, and the original song versions, and I have John Denver in my music collection. Take Me Home, Country Roads is a great song, which I remember from the 1970s, as is I Will Always Love You. So many great artists in this song medley. Thanks for sharing this reaction video. I so love this song. It's like the WE ARE THE WORLD of country music. Other than Garth Brooks they have pretty much every huge star of country music. What blows my mind as much as who is in this is the way they mixed these three hugely iconic songs so well that they actually sound like one song. Now your theory of holograms, I don't get since that isn't what a hologram is. Most of these artists weren't in the studio at the same time. Most came in show their part and then they edited all of the footage together and put them into the back grounds digitally. None of them were actually on site for their backgrounds. There is a making of this video on RUclips if you want some background.
