I had a 21 year old Craftsman Briggs auto choke that was not running right at all...key sheared. Nope...spark was erratic...new coil...nope...changed the CLEANED carb...to a brand new one...ran like a champ...customer was happy
lawnmower shaken after being on the rocks. That’s not the worse I have seen . I have seen the whole cam inside the engine get moved off timing . Only fixed for that is a new cam for it.
Heck ya I understand why you have these knock outs you repair for a living witch makes sense but for the average person that might do this once or twice you just work with what the good lord gave ya lol
I keep seeing adds about a bent shaft. There are treatments for it. Try removing the blade and use a large pipe to adjust it. Shouldn’t need much more than 1/8 inch.
Most shops refuse to do this procedure any more because the crank can crack easily, causing a failed crank and a blade to fly out from under the mower.
With Honda mowers, the sheer key never works, destroying the engine with a bent crank shaft. B@S and Tecumseh engines always sheer the key. I think Honda makes too hard of a key. I had a lady bend the crank on a brand new Honda, not much I could do for it. The lower oil seal was already seeping too.
I thought the same as Larry. My first thought was a bent crank. Could you test that by moving the blade around and watching its travel? Great repair as much as can be done. Thanks for the video.
Piece of crap John Deere? I resemble that remark!!! But I still gave you a thumbs up!
LOL! Thanks friend!
Jeff the crankshaft could be bent
yep I agree

John deere lawn and garden tractors and mowers are complete garbage overpriced overrated garbage
2021 Craftsman T240 Turn Tight Lawn/Garden tractor wipes deere off the map for sure
J.D. residential equipment is CRAAAAP!
What the hell is John Deere about a push mower hell it's just green that's all they all come with that old briggs quantum engine on top
Any more they are yes. Anything from the big box stores are cheap crap.
It’s not the fly wheel key you have a bent crankshaft
It was the key, AND it has a bent crankshaft
Can you make a video about how you tie your shoe laces pls
Man get a magnetic bolt bowl from harbor freight they are only 2.00 you'll never loose another bolt or nut
good tip!
My first thought was a sheared flywheel pin. And maybe a bent crank.
Nice work Swami I wish you worked at my shop lol!
I worked on that same mower my buddy had one I had found due to excessive vibration it "egged out" all the engine mounting holes on the deck
yikes!
【from Hipa】Do you like to try my parts?I can give you.thanks
Hi Nina, I have received your emails
@@JeffsLittleEngineService thank you .Looking forward to hearing from you.
@@JeffsLittleEngineService If you have other idea for the cooperation, pls email me.Thanks a lot.
This isn’t even a real John Deere. It’s a low end snapper Deere sold with their name on it.
Anyone watching reading this you don't need special tools as he calls it. Run thr flywheel bolt flush with the stud and give it a hit
good tip, utilize what you have!

👏👏👏very nice
Exactly what’s is wrong

I don't know if you know Andrew Camarata on RUclips (if you don't I highly recommend), but he repairs a bent shaft with a hammer

Thanks for the video. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Great job! I use a magnetic tray to keep track of the bolts, saves me a lot of grief, lol. Thanks for the vid., 👍👍

Yep the shaft is definitely bent
Bent the shaft up and to the left 🤦♂️😂
A sheared fly wheel key ouch😲
Jeff why don't you tell us what you really think about the John Deere mowers??!!! Great video as usual brother
Thank you! LOL! They are CRAAAAAAP!
Hay I got 20 years out of a JS61. Even using it commercially for 7 years. It finally ate the butterfly screw finishing itself off
My mower is worse than this and it’s only 3 years old
Sorry man...

Yes sometimes it is obvious, but sometimes it is hard to determine
They have a pill for that now you know 😆
LOL!
Awesome video
Thanksman!

Have you read the description of this video? Garbled.
Mower runs bad or won't start? Which is it? I'm confused.
This lawnmower ran bad and would not start sometimes. A lawnmower can have either problem and the flywheel key is the culprit.

@@JeffsLittleEngineService It was description under settings
good video, thank you
Thank you too
Nice job!
Thanks for the visit
Try a test blade to prove the shaft is bent. I had a 2 stroke toro shear a key. You are correct when you say it will rip off your fingers!
