I believe that evening is the best time to water plants because it's cooler and there is less evaporation. Wire wool works better than mesh to stop the rats entering a pipe and perhaps plant something like peppermint or garlic next to them as they hate the smell.
One other bit of information for you. I have bird cages and rats can collapse their bodies and run through the small holes of chicken wire. In fact they can flatten themselves and run under 240 liter garbage bins. So I suggest you block the drains with a tough flywire/mosquito wire. The wire you have, they will definitely still get thru that. Good luck.
Hello Adam, Jane and Isabella Greetings from Malaysia, Try peppermint oil or cinnamon oil. Rats hate them Cloves( crocoach) hates them. Sprinkle some cloves where they mostly like to be, especially in the kitchen, cabinets, etc,.. Good luck! 😊😊
I recommend putting spray foam around those pipes in the walls and foundation. I had issues with mice/rats until a pesk company said they getting into the foundation through the cracks. They sprayed the holes around the AC pipes and the issue diseappeared. Also once the spray is down, put that metal chicken wire over the spray as well. Reduces the chance that the rats will eat through the spray.
I live in Western Australia and have worked as a gardener at schools for 20 years. I don't know if watering times applies in Ormoc like here but watering is bestdone first thing in the morning. That way the roots are moist before the heat of the day arrives. Also to keep the roots and ground cool its a good idea to mulch around the plants. We have very hot days from December to March so keeping root system cool is important. For example we have had days in February reach 40 to 45C. Best wishes always.
When sunny plants can get burned spots on leaves because droplets can act like magnifying glasses. But i mean it rains when sunny too so it should not be a big issue
@@AdamandJanesLifestyle your welcome. And should you notice getting burned spits just give water at the roots only. I even watered plants when the water hose was laying in the sun and the water that came out was steaming. Plants did not care. But do not recommend that haha
There is a rat that visits my wife's house, but he usually comes out at night. And usually exists quickly . We haven't had a water shortage this year, but in 2019, we had a really serious water shortage here in Manila. I truly enjoy your videos. There isn't any real drama, just normal activities . Have a great day God bless you.
Adam, regarding the rats. Can you put a 90 degree bend on the pipe facing down, then put a piece of pipe on the bend facing down .difficult for the rat to climb up the pipe. Baz
Adam invest in a face visor and wear your contacts as normal. That said too your boots add some leather work gloves not much protection from snake bite but definitely reduces the chance of disease from the rats. From an engineering perspective i would cap the pipes and drill the caps to allow water out depending on diameter the sink filters to catch food waste work well then do your wire mesh over the top. Currently I am not in the Islands but take all of these precautions for my workshop with the addition of rat traps and poison all within the law here at least
Thank you my friend! Very helpful advice and ideas. The traps don’t work so much now as they seem to force their way out. I’ll need to modify the spring to make it firmer. Have a great weekend 😊
Plant oregano, serpentina, lemon grass around your perimeter fence. Snake dont want the smell of those plants...or put used engine oil at the base of your fence, likewise, they did nt want the smell of it.
Hi Adam, Jane & Isabella i see you are being industrious are usual. I heard your dinner will include the famous Filipino side dish "Ratatouie" LOL. 😅😅❤
We have some that are coming in our ceiling before and kept hearing them while we’re sleeping. My husband had ask a guy if he could check where the mice are coming. The guy and his co worker found out the mice can get into the corners of our roof. So they put wires thicker than chicken wire to fill in the gaps of little spaces. Since then we did not have any problem. Our backyard is a farm and our neighbor that owns the lot next to us with no house yet is full of garbage with an old bahay kubo and mango trees and old pile of dead mango trees. We see the rats coming from their lot. There’s lot of mice or rats Even though we have a high fence they still can come once in a while in our yard. Our cats are hunting the mice. They play until they died. -:)
Good afternoon my friend! Yea, absolutely we need to check everywhere and block them all. We really don’t want another homer in the house🤣 god bless you 😊
tell to jane make pandesal and ask the neighbors to buy in the morning start ur own business what u think adam? lol just suggest only coz its looks yummy the bread home made by pretty wife of u see u in ur ur next vlog i love u guys
at least it's better than snakes! 😂 well, start rat proofing the fence, and hire some stay home cats... check those screens regularly to make sure they are in good shape.
Living in the province or in the “country” as we call it here in the US will have to deal with wildlife, insects and rodents. Here in our farm we have field mice, moles, and coyotes. But I would rather have them than centipedes, or snakes or spiders.
Only time I saw a rat in the Philippines was in Manila running on the sidewalk, though where I was for the most of the time was like rice fields galore and rats don't seem like the type to enjoy such environments.
I'll give you a tap to get rid of snakes from your ground use mothballs and that's attempt from another guy who lives in the Philippines call Aussie farmer

I’ll look for better options for wire mesh my friend. Thank you 😊
Hello Adam, Jane and Isabella Greetings from Malaysia,

Good luck! 😊😊
Best to water plants at night before bed. So the sun doesn't burn the plants.
Thank you so much my friend 😊
Living in Montana we also get rats, mice, snakes. We found that steel wool or SOS pads work wonderful
Steel wool is great, I used that, they don't like chewing it apparently. It worked though 👍
That’s great advice! Thank you so much my friend 😊

Thank you so much my friend! I think first thing before the sun is up or after it starts to go down would work. God bless you 😊
You need a gully grid to stop homer getting in. It's like a pipe end cap but has a mesh grid so Water cab still flow through it.
that sounds best, moringa getts quite big if you dont eat it all to soon, and lemon grass makes a good natural hedge
We will be planting a lot along the borders now and try to deter them from entering 😊
Morning is the best time to water plants I think.
Have a great day my friend 😊
That's why they build the old Kubo on stilts . . .😺😺😺
I have a recommendation to you Adam. Replace the screen wire with very fine screen. You be surprised how rat can get in in a very small opening.
That’s my next job my friend. Thank you so much 😊
Hello Adam you should google plastics PVC caps for pipes and Glue them on With Plumbers Glue!!
Good morning Adam family
Good day my friend. Have a wonderful weekend 😊

He might well be Paul! I think he wants to try to become a permanent cast member with a spin off show one day 🤣

Cats keep the mice away😀
That’s why we have 2 cats!
We have one in the house which keeps them from coming inside but they still climb roofs and ceiling spaces 😊

Hi Adam, Jane and Bella..,so homer is back again😊please check all possible entry and block it with wire mesh. Rats are smart creatures.
Good afternoon my friend! Yea, absolutely we need to check everywhere and block them all. We really don’t want another homer in the house🤣 god bless you 😊
Plant more malunggay or Moringa tree at the back of your house lemon grass coz this plant the snake doesn't want the smell and also your front yard.
That’s our plan my friend! We just need some more rain to plant along the way within our side of the set aside space 😊

Almost 70,000 subs! Homer is better than a cobra.
Growing slowly my friend but surely. It’s always better a homer 🤣 hope you are all doing well. Any plans to return? God bless you guys 😊
The return of Homer. 😂

I’d love an army of cats… 😊

Maybe you can use your contact lenses whilst wearing a face shield. That way your whole face is protected. Just a thought.....
Hello Homer 🐀

They have rats because it’s rice fields before , put tray outside and have another cat
