    I believe that evening is the best time to water plants because it's cooler and there is less evaporation. Wire wool works better than mesh to stop the rats entering a pipe and perhaps plant something like peppermint or garlic next to them as they hate the smell.

  • @ponto08
    @ponto08 7 месяцев назад +6

    One other bit of information for you. I have bird cages and rats can collapse their bodies and run through the small holes of chicken wire. In fact they can flatten themselves and run under 240 liter garbage bins. So I suggest you block the drains with a tough flywire/mosquito wire. The wire you have, they will definitely still get thru that. Good luck.

      I’ll look for better options for wire mesh my friend. Thank you 😊

    Hello Adam, Jane and Isabella Greetings from Malaysia,
    Try peppermint oil or cinnamon oil. Rats hate them
    Cloves( crocoach) hates them.
    Sprinkle some cloves where they mostly like to be, especially in the kitchen, cabinets, etc,..
    Good luck! 😊😊

    You need a gully grid to stop homer getting in. It's like a pipe end cap but has a mesh grid so Water cab still flow through it.

    I recommend putting spray foam around those pipes in the walls and foundation. I had issues with mice/rats until a pesk company said they getting into the foundation through the cracks. They sprayed the holes around the AC pipes and the issue diseappeared. Also once the spray is down, put that metal chicken wire over the spray as well. Reduces the chance that the rats will eat through the spray.

    I live in Western Australia and have worked as a gardener at schools for 20 years. I don't know if watering times applies in Ormoc like here but watering is bestdone first thing in the morning. That way the roots are moist before the heat of the day arrives. Also to keep the roots and ground cool its a good idea to mulch around the plants. We have very hot days from December to March so keeping root system cool is important. For example we have had days in February reach 40 to 45C. Best wishes always.

    Adam invest in a face visor and wear your contacts as normal. That said too your boots add some leather work gloves not much protection from snake bite but definitely reduces the chance of disease from the rats. From an engineering perspective i would cap the pipes and drill the caps to allow water out depending on diameter the sink filters to catch food waste work well then do your wire mesh over the top. Currently I am not in the Islands but take all of these precautions for my workshop with the addition of rat traps and poison all within the law here at least

      We have some that are coming in our ceiling before and kept hearing them while we’re sleeping. My husband had ask a guy if he could check where the mice are coming. The guy and his co worker found out the mice can get into the corners of our roof. So they put wires thicker than chicken wire to fill in the gaps of little spaces. Since then we did not have any problem. Our backyard is a farm and our neighbor that owns the lot next to us with no house yet is full of garbage with an old bahay kubo and mango trees and old pile of dead mango trees. We see the rats coming from their lot. There’s lot of mice or rats Even though we have a high fence they still can come once in a while in our yard. Our cats are hunting the mice. They play until they died. -:)
