@Chance MacKinnon I just want you to know you're not alone in feeling that way. I moved from the city to the bush some time ago - it was instinctual that it was the right thing to do (for me) - and of course, it was. Every single day I feel gratitude about living out here. I have 4 acres, a gate I can leave open or shut, so much entertainment in the form of growing things, making things, observing nature, clouds, bugs, birds, weather patterns...it's a beautiful life. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world to have a little patch of dirt and solitude. Old fashioned all the way ;)

I once left employment after 10 years of loyal commitment due to being completely unappreciated the final two years. A friend told me, "Don't leave. You're letting them win." No, my philosophy is, I won back my integrity and peace of mind.
Even if my bones are rotting under an old fallen tree, it is still a better day in the woods than ANY day around "civilization." Thanks for sharing your story. Peace.

I agree! This weekend I quit my emotionally and energy draining job while sitting at a lake thinking about integrity and dignity. That job was once supposed to support my studies financially but they disrespected my timetable at the university, forcing me to change my contract from 12h down to 6 per week and they were not paying me for the last two months, coming up with ever new excuses. Every cent I spend for the university, rent, food and additional costs I earn myself. I took my job seriously, working often more, staying longer, fixing problems with customers, substituting for colleagues who got sick or had important appointments. Did they say "thank you" even once? No. So I wrote a message to my boss on WhatsApp while sitting at the lake that I quit. It felt sooo gooood! I was instantaneously full of joy as if I lost a huge weight from my shoulders! Sometimes you just have to cut loose before you can look for new shores.

You already know that you should let these things go, even before you get to the woods. Maybe even before you get back in your car. That guy has issues far beyond what you discussed with him.
Take it as a compliment to your success that you are recognized, and perhaps just embrace it. Would you rather be an unpublished and unappreciated author, or successful with someone who approached you and disagreed? Even his disagreement was actually compliment to you. You had made him think, and care enough about your work to approach you, and maybe even to confront you. So you have effected his life more than he has effected yours. You'll soon forget about him. He won't forget you.

I recall in The book "the gift of anger" by Arun Ghandi, he wrote about how there are those whom are famous because it is a byproduct of their work. A good artist will by consequence by famous. And then there are those famous because they sought out fame. (Social media people and the like) The point is that an artist famous for their work didn't seek out the public eye and often are uncomfortable in it. I believe this is your category my friend. The public eye can have an unsettling gaze at times I am sure. I just hope that the joy you bring to us fans, and our respect for you can mitigate those effects of being a public figure. And if not us I am certain the forest can help you ease your mind as stated at the beginning of the video. Keep up the good work Bjorn.

These last few months have been trying. I've been fighting not to be homeless. I've been fighting my landlord to have fuel for hot water/heat. I've been fighting the banks to get a loan on a house. I've been fighting just to stay where I am.
So, I had enough of it. I packed a backpack, got my dog and drove to the mountains. I sat on a rock in the middle of nowhere. A mountain peak to the right of me. A river to the left of me. Not another soul for miles, save for my dog that is.
Just being out there was like I was in another world. The problems of so called "Civilization" were far away. Just being there watching my dog sniff very blade of grass in the area made me feel better. So I live to fight another day, I calm myself in the wilds.

I am a city girl but my dad taught me the beauty in nature. Spent time in the woods, hunting, just observing and gaining such appreciation of nature. I find myself longing to leave the city and find a mountaintop somewhere and just enjoy “being” ... I found myself just closing my eyes and listening to the crackle of the fire in your videos and I felt a longing pain in my heart to be removed from this place and be in the woods, in the snow, with a fire and some coffee. I agree with you, Bjorn😊 I'm a little older than you. As we go thru life...we learn how to deal with people of all kinds. You will learn to let their idiocy not bother you and retain your peace...its wonderful. Every day can be like this. What a joy. Be safe out there, in the beautiful forests/woods, grasses...I enjoyed listening to your heart...and having my coffee with you....I look forward to being with/hearing your heart again❤😊

I just found this video, and I liked it. I could understand how you were feeling, and I agree with you about privacy. Over here in the USA, we usually would say they have no filter. You call it antenna, same thing. I have felt that way myself at times, and I must agree that getting somewhere beautiful and quiet, and private like a wooded area makes a world of difference.
When I moved here 33 years ago, there was not a tree in the yard. Awful. I started planting trees, bushes, flowers, vines and ground covers. I love nature, and I love my privacy and time to be by myself. Worked with people all day long. Needed time alone at the end of the day, just to relax and take in nature. It looked for a while like a little park. Eventually the trees grew tall and branched out, bringing in many birds to dine at our feeders or bathe in the bird baths. The bushes spread, and the vines climbed, and the ground covers spread over our 1/4 acre back yard. We enjoy the birds, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks, just to name a few. It is fenced with a gate and a lock. Very private and filled with birdsong. I cannot tell you how many days I have come home feeling as you looked in this video, and headed up back with a hot cup of coffee, just to sit back and relax and just listen to the nature around me. No one can see me up there, and it is my private hideaway. Spend some time there, and everything looks different. Tensions melt away, and you feel renewed. I very much enjoyed spending time with you in your place, and I know exactly what you mean. We are very lucky to have such a place where we can go to and just be part of nature. Thank you for sharing yours with us.

in the UK we say that type of person "has no filter" they are sad people who have done nothing in life but are experts in things they know nothing about.
Its good to know a place in the woods or at the coast where we can cut the world out, and be one with thoughts..Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us

In the South (usa) the locals say "Don't pay 'em no nevermind"... It is a powerful, yet simple, phrase. It is not so easy to do many times but it has its appropriate moments.
Going to sit in the woods, beach, desert is likely the best "therapy" for man. As I can see watching this (ok - somewhat edited) it clearly works. Drink your coffee, listen to the sounds of the trees and streams, smell the unspoiled air... they are all healing.
Thank you for your words and sharing aspects of your life here with us. Be well. Respect.

You have brought a lot of calm and happiness into my life, and are a great reminder to slow down, and to remember what is truly important. I watch at least one of your videos each day- and it’s often the best 15 or so minutes that I’ve had the whole day. Your way of thinking, (of reacting to the world, and sense of personal responsibility, and taking care of one’s family, etc)- is perfectly aligned with mine. It’s great to know that I’m not alone in feeling this way, and to be able to listen to someone who is more eloquent put it into words and images is priceless. Thank you- I truly appreciate your efforts in keeping the world a beautiful place- and keeping each other honest, and brave, and responsible, and respectful- and to pass that on to our next generation. Have a great day, my friend. Once again, you have made my day better than it would have been without you in it.

I was taught how to work steel in its natural state to the shape desired and then when achieved heat the whole piece up to red before quenching in water to harden the steel. To then reheat the cutting edge to produce a straw colour then quench again. The implement is then ready to be sharpened using stones.

Even though a year has passed, this video finds me with a day just like you had, one that makes you shake your head at life at times, or even shake a fist, lol... Sometimes it seems like others pile on with insensitivity just at the moment you are most vulnerable. And you are so right, coming home to the woods and the mountain helps place distance - and altitude - which helps wash it all away. You are a beautiful spirit, truly, to share these moments, to remind us of our personal practices by which we heal ourselves. I have no one but my German Shepherd dog, but he understands everything. And so we sit with each other and surrender these feelings and return ourselves to love and truth. Thank you. Much love...

Thank‘s for sharing your wisdom with us!
I‘m going through a hard time right now; in a mental sense. I‘m suffering from daily panic attacks and generalized anxiety. It‘s very difficult to maintain hope and strength under those conditions.
However, your thoughts and ideas give me new perspectives. You inspired me to spend more time in nature, and trying to reduce my dependency from technology. I hope this will bring me freedom and health.
Sadly, a lifestyle like that is often considered "regressive" or even psychopathic by society. But that will not keep me away from trying it out!
    Greetings from Switzerland,
    -Simon

Every word you spoke in this video Bjorn, I’m positive I’ve thought at some point. Watching this was like listening to myself think. People tell me I have “social anxiety” but I see it as the world I live in is not one I belong in. I belong with my family, the small group of people who understand me. I belong in the woods, or in the comfort of my home. I belong in my armchair, writing every short story and idea that comes to mind. I belong watching a campfire slowly burn away and the moon and stars rise above my head. My fiancée tells me I’m a shut-in and that that’s no way to live your life. She gets angry with me for not wanting to go out to eat, or go to large social gatherings, and she doesn’t understand that “modern” people are so uneducated, insensitive and so easily offended that simply existing offends them in some cases. I’m going to show this video to everyone who tells me I’m a shut-in or socially anxious or a hermit and maybe they’ll understand better. Thank you for always putting my thoughts to words Bjorn. Ver heill ok sæll. Skál.

Don't worry about what others do or say, sometimes people say and do things without having all the information or understand the situation, let others worry about it, keep doing what you do, there are a lot of people who get a lot of pleasure from your historical experiences and work, keep it up and stay positive, peace.

Everytime i go into the woods, or stay a full day in nature....i kind of get this feeling that i understand how important that would be for all of us.
It‘s like you would get a healthier mind then... and understand how much is going wrong with the consumption of today.
Just nature, something to eat, to drink, to sleep will lead to a healthy mind, so that you can again focus on yourself and reflect what you hear and see in modern world and how much you actually need.
Your videos are so inspiring for that!

Love your walks & talks!! Being from rural southern USA, I've always loved nature & use it as my tranquilizer & therapist, lol...it charges me nothing & I don't have to talk, but just listen to sounds. Walking barefeet in the grass around my home (esp at dusk or dawn) or in woods near the house, swimming in the lake, hiking in the woods/mountains, smelling the earth & all the things it grows - it just helps me get my head together even if I can't always stay out long.

You are 100% right. I am self employed and it's like you said. Some people don't care what's going on with you, it's all about what they want and when they want it. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you're an expert in your field and they have never done it even one time. Some of them like to tell you how to do what they know nothing about. Not saying that all people are that way, but some are. I feel where you are coming from in this video. I've had return customers call and wake me up at midnight knowing that my work is only done during the day. Sometimes I have to do what you do. I go out alone and try to be one with nature. There is something very peaceful about that and it helps me a lot. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for taking the time to make something worth watching.
