Hugh Jackman actually tore the stitches out and had to go straight back to the hospital to get it restitched. He could feel it bleeding so he kept touching it to see. As soon as he left, he had to go get them restitched. He said he walked into the hospital and his doctor knew he'd sang haha. Mad respect for Hugh Jackman! He really is the Greatest Showman!
So many of my favorite Broadway actors were in the ensemble for the workshop, Jeremy Jordan, Andrew Keenan Bolger, Keala Settle, Cynthia Erivo, and many others who are amazing. Yes, the musical theatre community is like this in every rehearsal and workshop and we find a family in every cast we're in.
Jeremy Jordan, Andrew Keenan Bolger, Keala Settle, Cynthia Erivo, Allison Luff, and Natalie Weiss were just casually singing in the background. That's insane.
Seriously, how can you not get emotional when you see this shit hahaha! I cried watching this, I cried watching the other behind the scenes vid. Had chills everywhere. Its so infectious! You really want to stand up and sing with them. Amazing stuff.
Maybe they haven't watched the movie yet? (I don't know okay i was scrolling in the comments while they're introducing lol) watching the movie, you'll feel the music because you'll know the story behind it.
Cynthia was doing some of the high riffs as well, but the highest notes were being sung by Keala Settle standing next to Cynthia. Both great singers though!
just remember: every singer, every actor started out as a nerdy theater kid. Even after years of acclaim, Hugh knew what was riding on the line and that theater kid just had to get out there and do that ONE piece, because he knew he wanted to do his part. I think I read he worked something like 15 years to get this to this point and he was not going to chance them saying no
True but can he rlly blame him? He was so into it that *it got me hyped up too* (at the "my god it starts tonight!!!" I said (out loud) "heck yes it does" good thing I was alone that would've been embarrassing)
he had to under surgery again after this because he had broken 30 stitches during high notes and jaw movement. you can see him wiping blood at the end. pure dedication and total awesomeness. this man is simply the greatest human being ever.
@@michaeljames.2000 It's not Efron's fault that the role was offered to him. Jeremy doesnt have fanbase that Efron had. So it's logical that the production would offer it to Efron.
i think it went beyond work ethic here. it felt to me like he was just feeling the song so much and something in him, in his heart, just had to sing. especially when he sings the words "i remember what all this was for." hugh is a true artist and i believe that he puts his heart and soul into everything he does. it's more than just work for him, it's a passion and his heart and soul just couldn't allow him to stand there and not sing that song. anyway, great reaction haha just needed to put in my 2 cents :)
YES he end up with blood running out of his nose, he said in an interview that after he finished he told them he was bleeding and had ripped sum stitches
I don't understand why some people don't like this movie.... but at the same time, I really like these guys reactions. I just saw the movie a week ago and I am still in recovery... I know some criticize the cinematography and story ect ect... but I feel that entertainment that brings about emotion whether it is love, anger, fear, hope or whatever it may be is the highest level of entertainment. This movie/musical did just that... I can't get enough and I don't want to lose this feeling. Thanks for the video guys first time viewer and I will be watching more of your stuff!
Y'all should watch Jeremy Jordan's story titled "The Day I Saved 'The Greatest Showman.'" It sheds a whole new perspective on what's going on in this video!
While This Is Me is a better song, the workshop session for From Now On is magical and powerful. I could definitely see From Now On being nominated for Best Original Song.
I enjoy this song so much more than this is me. It’s just more of a power ballad and when you see something like this (or musicality’s cover) it is just so powerful and unique

You guys should react to "Jeremy Jordan - the day I saved The Greatest Showman" it's a beautiful but sad story about the creation of this movie and the read through (the read through is where this performance is from) Jeremy Jordan is the guy who was singing for Hugh before Hugh did his thing. Jeremy was also originally supposed to play Zac Efrons role and he explains what happened in his video while also performing songs from the show.
Even after 2 years, EPIC. He didnt have to, it was a workshop but his heart was like: fu.. off doc, Hugh do it :D Noticed that Hugh wiped the blood off the nose? This passion, you can see it in everyones face...
Jeremy Jordan (the guy who sang for Hugh) is actually way more talented than Hugh and was supposed to have played the role of Zac’s character. You can look up on YT “The day I saved the Greatest Showman” and it gives you a complete new perspective. It actually ruined the movie for me because Zac got the role because he’s more famous than Jeremy - Jeremy would’ve stolen the spotlight. He’s one of the best singers of this decade - his voice absolutely beautiful and insane!! It crushed my heart because Jeremy in this video was actually sick from a nasal infection himself but wanted to do it!!! - he knew all the songs and fit Hugh’s voice well so he was backup. All of Jeremy’s BTS was cut out btw except for this one because it was Hugh’s moment…
Religious experience if ever I have seen one. I wonder what the rest of that building was thinking... 😂 the entire place must have been vibrating with the energy. This is spontaneous messy passionate non socially distant or mask silenced LIFE. This is what I am missing so desperately. Please God let life return to this. It can’t happen behind masks six feet apart. We need life back soon. 🙏🏼
Yep, he tore open the stitches on his nose, had to find an E.R. in NYC to re-stitch the whole thing. And as far as the Oscar went, every person on the face of the Earth said that This Is Me would win, and somehow or other the award went to the latest Disney happy-land flick. Complete theft.
The accent could be better 😂

where did he say this? interview? i wanna see it too!!
Found it in an interview I think 🤔 haven’t been able to find it since though so not sure. Sorry hunny x
Burooj Ahanger he says it when he went on the graham norton show with Zendaya and Zac
Aimee Mills what did he have stitches for and where?
Do Bon his nose from surgery
Doctor: HUGH NO!
Directors: HUGH NO!
Hugh's nose: HUGH NO!
The cast: Hugh, maybe?
Hugh: HUGH YES!
What did anyone expect. This was his passion project for ten years. This is pure energy. Yet, I Am Me is still the Anthem for the movie.
It’s This is me not I am me.
Thanks.

@@the_allshow6845 I mean, he's right though, it's literally the name of the song- "This is Me"

Prob said “I won’t do it from now on”

Katie Tucker I thought that was Jeremy Jordan. Thanks for confirming
But those name weren't acknowledged nor credited in the movie
Hugh said "The show must go on" bleeding and all. Mad respect to him
I LOVE that it was THIS song that he just couldn't help but sing! Oh, and I love Hugh, have a newfound respect for him!
Trivia, yes he was bleeding, also he had to get his nose re stitched after
