Just wanted to leave a comment saying thank you for doing this. Passed my aptitude test and did an interview with the board a couple weeks later. And a couple weeks after that they accepted me for the apprenticeship and my orientation starts in a few days. To those on here who haven’t taken the test: don’t worry about it. Study the first 5 questions on here and look up more practice problems like those. The reading comprehension part is about as easy as it gets (unless you have dyslexia which you need to tell the JATC about beforehand so that they can accommodate) and it’s score can balance out your math score if it’s on the low side

Excellent video and thank you for posting. I just took the test for IBEW and passed. The percentage question @23:00 can be solved a bit easier if you remember the equation rate x base = part, or r x b = p. The key is in knowing to move your decimal to the left in the case of a whole number percentage.
This problem is pretty straightforward. You have a rate(r) of 130% and base(b) of 75. You are solving for the part(p). When you have a whole number percentage, in this case 130.00%, move your decimal two places to the left, as 130% is 1.3 times 75. So the equation becomes 1.3 x 75 = 97.5. Just my 2%, or .02 cents lol. Hope this helps...

@34:10 .... Once that volume is determined, you can rule out the two wrong answers by simply 'rounding' the volume and the gallon per volume. First simply round up to 10 and 7.5 gal (which would give 75 gallons), then round down to 9 and 7 (which would give 63 gallons). You can simply compare these estimates with the answers to see that the first two answers are ruled-out, because both or your estimates of 75 and 63 are above 59 and 37 (making them impossible to be correct)..... The important thing is that you avoided the long multiplication step, with two very simple multiplication estimates (10 x 7.5, and 9 x 7). This can't always be done , but here it can be. In these aptitude tests, if you can't use a calculator, strategy can become important.

For 440, THIS is what’s going to be on the test but if you can afford it, iPrep has basically a 1:1 tests of what they have in the actual test. Technically iPrep was harder but prepared me for the aptitude test

I even looked the answer up after doing it on scratch paper and it's correct. Is this guide wrong or am I missing a step? The answer is definitely 40 5/8.
