Scott went on to write The Great American Novel The Great Gatsby, though this novel was in part inspired by Fitzgerald's real life. Things... don't end quite happily, and they didn't for Zelda either. She put in a mental institution (and her husband had a lot to do with it), where she died in fire in 1948.
Long story short, they both plagiarized each other. Zelda’s autobiographical novel save me the waltz is basically a work of plagiarism off Tender is the Night

Okay but your channel makes me so happy, and I absolutely love the content you create. Also I'm thinking about the time I plagarized a poem as a third grader and read it to my mom, and she was like "Honey, you did not write that perfectly-paced sonnet about a Lorde song," and then I broke down crying and confessed that I was a hack.
Reminds me slightly of this excerpt from Sophia Tolstoy’s diaries. I would love a video on them! Their relationship was so messy and Tolstoy was awful to his wife who did so much labour for his writing. “I have served a genius for almost forty years. Hundreds of times I have felt my intellectual energy stir within me and all sorts of desires - a longing for education, a love of music and the arts… And time and again I have crushed and smothered these longings… Everyone asks, “But why should a worthless woman like you need an intellectual or artistic life?” To this question I can only reply: “I don’t know, but eternally suppressing it to serve a genius is a great misfortune.”

I want to share that in 8th grade we had to dress up as a famous dead person and act like them for the entire day, and I chose Zelda Fitzgerald. The only thing I am proud of 8th grade me for doing.
Fitzgerald had a profound case of “Irish-American Dude-Bro-ism.” It’s like watching your uncles get messy drunk at the holidays and looking on in horror as your Tamagotchi is smashed to hell as they try to start a fight with your dad. I mean, carry on with the fighting; but, what the fuck my Tamagotchi.

I just read Save Me the Waltz and you're right. It is definitely not narratively strong but the incidents were very interesting. Knowing that it was written based on her life and her relationship with Scott or her affairs, made it a bit more intriguing to me.
There was this one scene from Moxie (2021) where a BIPOC female character was all like: "Why are we still reading this book? It's written by some rich white guy about some white guy" and I legit said out loud: wdym, Zelda wrote it, it's a rich white girl.
