Loop Chokes Please! (Basics on How the BJJ Loop Choke Works)

  • The Loop Choke in BJJ is an incredibly versatile and sneaky submission. It can be used as a choke, setup to a sweep and is available from many different positions.
    In this video our buddy Doug requested a Loop Choke. I'll probably do another video on the loop choke in the future. But in this video I'll show you a basic loop choke setup and how it works.
    So this video isn't really the best on setting it up but it will show you the basic mechanics of how it works so you can use it if you like.
    One big key I'd like to emphasis with you if you decide to use it is to make sure to apply pressure on the carotid arteries. Oftentimes when I see people practicing this choke for the 1st time. They have a tendency to apply too much frontal pressure to the wind pipe. This is both dangerous and not as a effective.
    So be sure to keep a somewhat looser grip so you can secure the pressure on the carotids and get the proper collar choke positioning we are looking for.
    Hope this video helps you.

    Hello Chewy, or any other jiu jitsu practioner who may be able to spare me some of their valuable advice. I'm thinking of beginning jiu jitsu and I will have the money for training when I begin my new job. However, this job may fill up my free time so much that I may only have the opportunity to train once per week and occasionally twice. Do you consider this, realistically, as a worthwhile investment? Thank you for reading I appreciate all and any advice (:

  • @nandezification
    @nandezification 4 года назад +1

    Just take out that windpipe to begin with. It’ll make your attempted assault go by much easier. Especially if there are three of four of them. Which there usually are in any engagement. Homeboys look out for each other and like to take cheapshots when you’re busy doing this maneuver on someone.

    No. 2 it’s dangerous if you put “pressure” on the windpipe.............um don’t you want to put “dangerous pressure” on someone’s windpipe? Martial arts=life and death. Why are people learning this to begin with? Hold on criminal or person about cause me bodily harm, I must redo my choke so as to NOT put “dangerous pressure” on your windpipe.
