Still feel so much sadness when I read that Anne Byrne had passed away on the 28th of December 2020. I knew that she had various health issues in recent years and kept hoping she was going to get treatments that would help her. Anne was not really that well known outside of Ireland but her voice was incredible! What a gifted lady!
Anne Byrne had a voice that was so good, I really think she could have become famous like Joan Baez. Her voice was of that level but i know she didn't want to pursue the road to get to that point. Always having to be away from home and travel everywhere on a regular basis to perform. Anne Byrne definitely in my top 10 female folk singers of all time. The best of the best 10 in the world on that list for me. Yes, Anne Byrne is on that list! Just sorry Anne had to live with many difficult issues in health related problems. RIP Anne Byrne.
@@tomgreene1843 8 Hi Tom, Do you still live in Dublin? I am in USA and visited Dublin in the 1980's. I also visited Belfast. I spent a week in Dublin and enjoyed it very much!
Word is to the kitchen gone, and word is to the hall And word is up to madam the queen, and that's the worst of all That Mary Hamilton has borne a babe To the highest stuart of all Arise, arise Mary Hamilton Arise and tell to me What thou hast done with thy wee babe I saw and heard weep by thee I put him in a tiny boat And cast him out to sea That he might sink or he might swim But he'd never come back to me Arise arise Mary Hamilton Arise and come with me There is a wedding in Glasgow town This night we'll go and see And as she rode into Glasgow town The city for to see The bailiff's wife and the provost's wife Cried out and alas for thee Then by them come the king himself Looked up with a pitiful eye Come down, come down Mary Hamilton This night you will dine with me Oh hold your tongue, my sovereign liege And let your folly be For if you'd a mind to save my life You would never have shamed me here Last night the queen had four Marys Tonight there'll be but three There was Mary Seton and Mary Beaton And Mary Carmichael and me

Hi Tom,
Do you still live in Dublin? I am in USA and visited Dublin in the 1980's.
I also visited Belfast. I spent a week in Dublin and enjoyed it very much!
the irish and the italians have a monopoly on great voices John Gary of blessed memory
The Irish and the Italians have some many things in common: Catholicism, emigration, foreign rule and so on.
Word is to the kitchen gone, and word is to the hall
And word is up to madam the queen, and that's the worst of all
That Mary Hamilton has borne a babe
To the highest stuart of all
Arise, arise Mary Hamilton
Arise and tell to me
What thou hast done with thy wee babe
I saw and heard weep by thee
I put him in a tiny boat
And cast him out to sea
That he might sink or he might swim
But he'd never come back to me
Arise arise Mary Hamilton
Arise and come with me
There is a wedding in Glasgow town
This night we'll go and see
And as she rode into Glasgow town
The city for to see
The bailiff's wife and the provost's wife
Cried out and alas for thee
Then by them come the king himself
Looked up with a pitiful eye
Come down, come down Mary Hamilton
This night you will dine with me
Oh hold your tongue, my sovereign liege
And let your folly be
For if you'd a mind to save my life
You would never have shamed me here
Last night the queen had four Marys
Tonight there'll be but three
There was Mary Seton and Mary Beaton
And Mary Carmichael and me
