Y’all should hear his Liverpool accent! 😂😂 It was out in full force yesterday for Eurovision. (He went to school there so I promise it’s better than his Scottish one.)
Loved it! Thanks for keeping the extended shots of the window scenery - with the music it was so dreamy. Just realised that it's not a coincidence that the two remaining night trains - both of which you've taken - are routes with such spectacular views. Sad that one needs such extreme justification to keep them running. I would still prefer an average-view night train to a flight for the same reasons you mentioned Steph, especially for travelling within a country. The staff are all so charming! Pete, thoroughly enjoyed your Scottish accent.
That's a good observation! The world needs more trains, for sure. For a variety of reasons! And yes-- the staff on each of the trains, as you told us, were extremely lovely. It's always so nice to see people (seemingly) enjoy their work.
Hey guys, I'm so glad you enjoyed that trip. Looks wonderful, and it's definitely on my bucket list. There are some nice scenic journeys in Wales, I know, so that might be something worth looking at 🙂
Neeps and Tatties are potatoes and turnips i think..having taken this train from Aberdeen to London a few years ago, cannot forget the yummy breakfast and the lovely drinks in the bar/restaurant car. Will repeat this journey!!
Wow. This video was incredible. Mum and Dad are super excitable lol. I'm so pleased you loved my homeland. Really looking forward to watching more of your videos 😀😀😀😀
Heyy, absolutely love your videos! I am a train Manager for caledonian! neeps means swede or turnips and tatties is potatoes! Glad you enjoyed your experience!
Looks like a very rewarding train ride for sure!! :) although I do miss the option of opening windows I guess. Sights of Scotland are so so beautiful! Glad that it's one of the only 2 countries that I have visited. The other being England which was also cool :) Looking forward to seeing more of Scotland!!! :) ETA it sort of feels funny to see you guys in a car and Pete driving :P seems rare. I think the only other time we saw you guys driving was in Rome recently. Hope it was a great road trip!! :)
Opening windows is such a rarity in the rest of the world, but I completely agree! And yeah-- we don't drive much at all (even when home), so you're right! We had a car for a month in South Africa, so if you want more driving, check out that series. :) Thanks for always watching, Noor.
@@StephandPete Oh yes indeed, South Africa. I actually did watch the SA series recently, because I am planning to go there soon. Hoping to travel to a lot of countries once I finish my PhD very soon. Have been starved of travel since years. I had been meaning to drop a comment about one of your South Africa videos. Don't remember in which 1 but in 1 of them, Pete mentioned about how he looks similar to AB de Villiers and often gets mistaken for him :P I guess time to bring that clip back and juxtapose it with recent adventures of Pete ABD in India :P
I assume there was engineering work or line closures when you did this journey as the sleepers usual departure station is Euston.Have done this journey to Fort William but on the old sleeper stock, yet to do the new one yet.As you mentioned though the scenery is lovely on that route.
Yes! That’s why the change. Didn’t make too much of a difference for us though I think we may have l been able to board/leave slightly earlier if from Euston?
Have you been on any of the remaining named trains in the UK? The Flying Scotsman is the fast train up to Edinburgh, with the Highland Chieftan being the fastest train to London from Inverness. The Cornish Riveira on the GWR also still runs, being the fastest train to Penzance. You could try travelling from Englands most eastern point in Lowestoft, to the most western being Penzance.
@StephandPete ah ok, I'll take a look at that. The Cornish Rivera Express departing Penzance at 10:04, is the fastest train to Penzance, doing the service direct in 5 hours and 6 minutes. The British Rail Class 802 IET has been the motive power since 2019, stops at all but one of the stations on the route, and does it only 10 minutes faster than the HST making limited stops that it replaced.
Gosh we didn't spend much time at all-- this was the quickest trip we've had in awhile. Our next video is 24 hours in the Fort William area, which you'll see was a bit rushed. Then we had 2 nights in Glasgow and 2 in Edinburgh (coming up in the next couple of weeks.)
What a racket you were making at that time of night. Not much thought for your neighbours. The train is cleaned at Wimbledon through the day and not Euston.
Caledonian Sleeper, London to Edinburgh, October 2022: Absolutely not luxurious. Very disappointing. I was expecting some genuine old world luxury, not a glorified Gregg's café dining car and microwaved breakfast in bags. There's nowhere to put decent sized suitcases, and when I asked about a baggage car I was looked at blankly and told 'I don't know what that is, sir.' There's no assistance with bags, so Christ knows what you do if you're weak and feeble. There were two guys on the platform who were directing people, but only when asked. They spent most of their time standing about gabbing to people, seemingly not interested in engaging with the passengers. The same guys were serving drink and wretched food in the dining car. Not luxurious at all. On a positive note - The comfort level of the beds was, thank goodness, *adequate* for seven hours of sleep, although I can sleep just about anywhere. Also the price of the tickets was about what I might have expected to pay for a first class ticket on a day train, if said ticket hadn't been booked ahead.
My excitement of trains has gone up from watching channels like yours, and also post pandemic.
I hope you get to go on some fun journeys soon!
Lol. I cracked up when Hays was trying to smell the mountains too 😂
lol, right?
Was that the best intro ever? Probably 😂 Those views were beautiful, especially to wake up to! Enjoy Scotland guys!

Lovely video, really enjoyed it and thanks for sharing.
I've booked up for June 2004 and going to Inverness for a weekend.
Really can't wait.
June 2024! Time travel! ;) (I knew what you meant.) You'll have a fab time! Enjoy!
I love trains too. That was awesome. Way better than TV. It must be so different being back in Tennessee now. 😀
TN has it's charms! ;) (Though they sure are dwindling these days over here...)
Thanks for sharing my country and my home city Glasgow!
Really enjoying your content.
You guys are very welcome back here anytime!❤
Glad to have you here and thanks for commenting!
Enjoyable and informative, thanks a lot 🙏

definitely! Pete was talking about those. Next on our UK list.

Ah that's so cool! Appreciate you watching and you're the first to actually tell me what neeps means! Much appreciated! -S
I mix half sweed with half carrots, well mashed and butterd with a load of pepper, it's adictive, love Haggis and tatties, i am Scotish.

Pete should be arrested for his Scottish 😆. Can't wait for the next one!

Great fun guys 👍
Thanks for watching! We’ve got another train video coming tomorrow.
The sleeper train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi Finland is really, really good.

lol you’re right!

Fort William to Mallaig. The Harry Potter LINE........
The Caledonian sleeper normally departs from London Euston
Yep!
Wait, Caledonian sleeper at King's Cross? Why was it at Kings Cross and not Euston
Rail works!
Please come in delhi, India everybody wants to meet you ❤❤❤🎉
It's "Bohn appetee". The final "t" is silent. De rien.
Steph dont take offense but you remind me of our Princess Catherine.
Only my grandmother’s ever said that! 😂
