Trail Checkpoints: Serbotei Saddle - Serbota Peak (2331m) - The Lambs Bucket - Cleopatra`s Saddle - Negoiu Peak (2536m) - The Rams Bucket (Camp3)

On our third day we climbed Serbota, then descended into the Lambs Bucket from where we ascended to Negoiu through Cleopatra`s Saddle and then went on to the ladies gorge where we decided to retreat back into the valley.
The weather didn’t seem like it was going to get any better so we began our ascent from Saua Serbotei towards the peak with the same name.
The wind battered us constantly on our way up, and by the time we got to the top we knew that Custura Saratii wasent a viable choice in these weather conditions. So we took the easier way, through The Lambs Bucket.
Watching my friend descend the almost vertical cliff got me thinking about the escapism element in mountaineering, and its real essence, which is not escaping reality, but victory over your own human frailty.
After carefully negociating the terrain, we ended up right beneath the ridge from where we could see the valley floor, so we continued our descent. The further down we went, we better we could see one of the hardest mountain treks available in Romania, Custura Saratii.
When we reached the valley floor we ware thirstier than a pair of siamese camels with a single hump, but we knew there was water nearby at Negoiu stream. Once we got there we quenched our thirst and refilled our humps, then took the red triangle trail up towards Negoiu.
The stream that came from above on the abrupt thresholds was shaped into small waterfalls that carried the water with a thundering sound.
This section of the trail has a lot of parts where you have to scramble, but there are also plenty of places for holds.
As we drew ever closer to the peak our excitement grew but our pace remained steady, after all we still had a long way to go until we made camp.
We reached Cleopatra`s Saddle, and from here the sign said we still had 30 minutes to go. In contrast to our ascent here, this last section was for the most part a simple walk.
When we got to Negoiu peak, our panorama stretched as far as the landmark, but nothing could chip away our joy.
From Negoiu there are two trails that descend together until they form a junction from where the red tape goes through the Devil`s Gorge and the yellow tape goes through The Lady`s Gorge. From principle when going down a mountain I try to avoid steep descents named after the Devil.
We climbed down in the same style we came up, by scrambling on the jagged rocks. The trail took us down in Ram`s Bucket, and half way through it we ran into a rusty indicator for a trail coming from Arefu. (13-15 hrs)
We continued towards the Lady`s Gorge, in the same style we trekked all day, a scramble here, a threshold there and, of course, fog everywhere. When we finally reached it, we felt that this has become our landscape, and somehow we belong here, so we decided to turn back to the Ram`s Bucket to pitch our tent. Tomorrow we will leave this etheric atmosphere behind in favor of a world that`s vastly overated.

Foarte fain video! Tocmai m-am uitat la cele 3 din Fagaras si urmeaza sa ma uit la tot ce ai pe canal. Imi place foarte mult cum ai gandit filmuletele. Multa bafta si spor in continuare!
