In my opinion, JPS infrastructural damages were just hastened by Hurricane Beryl. Majority of the light poles were in need of replacement long before the hurricane.
There's a nursing home on Creighton Drive in Mt Salem Montego Bay the sick senior citizens are suffering no clothes machines operated cold tin food etc heat plz help

The Jamaica public service company was established in 1923, that's one century ago. Jamaica has faced many natural disasters (since then until now). This is not the worst hurricane that ever hit Jamaica, neither did it incur the damages many before it did. Now, don't think I am saying there isn't extensive damage to utility lines and poles, I would be insensitive to say something like that, but what I will say is the response of these companies are terrible. Over a hundred years to plan and put preparations in place, to even experiment to find what disaster preparedness plan is the most effective, to establish hurricane proof store houses, stocked with the components and materials needed to take on the job soon after the disaster, and this is the lazy lackadaisical service we the Jamaican people get. 50 mil USD to aid in the matter, and while the money has been there, no one figured hey, let's stock up on the items necessary incase the worst should happen. I can bet you jps is currently out sourcing materials to help with the damages. Modern times, modern times.... Sigh
Most of these poles are over 50 years old, bedides they are wooden poles planted into the ground. What happens to these over the years? Does preventitive maintenance means anything?
I have traveled back-and-forth to Jamaica, countless of times travel the island from places the places parish the parish and one of the common things that I’ve seen is the is the polls many of them are old and brittle. If they had replaced these poles over the years, we wouldn’t have this problembullshit them talking
I believe most of the damage poles and jps asset were long before damage ant that amount of funds Mr Vass announced should be closely monitored by the authorities. We all know the outcome when money granted for funding.
JPS was never prepared for any form of weather / storm. They need to leave the country. They have never done any maintenance since they took the company . Neither did they make any improvements since they took the company. The only thing they improve were to charge people more on their new meters. The charges remained the same even when my parents were away. It's a constant struggle to get them to stop stealing. They shouldn't get a dime. Anyone who goes to Jamaica knows and sees those delopidated light posts covered over by bushes. That's is more than a common sight. They have no respect for the people of Jamaica and this because of bad governance. The agency that govern them is useless and corrupt.
Commissioner Blake, why do te police (I am in St. Ann) stand around and also ride in groups? It seems they could cover many more ot spots if they patroled singly. US police ride one in a car and one at traffic spot positions.

Let's face it, JPS was just not ready for the hurricane season, let alone hurricane Beryl!
