6... Move to a Borey, electric is only 730rl a kw. i have mine on 24/7 and this months electric bill was 41 bucks, We rent a 2 bed house with smalll garden for 500.
The serviced apartment - but smaller and on the 10th floor or higher, if possible. Safer in a serviced apartment and for all the reasons you mentioned. The serviced apartments you are looking at are BIG ........way to big for a single male. I would want 40 sq metres or less and higher up, to avoid all Mosquitoes. With global warming they are probably increasing in numbers, in geographical areas they would not have been in previously. That is certainly the case in Australia, where Japanese Encephalitis cases are being found (and infecting people) in areas below the Tropic of Capricorn. The other thing Aussies have to remember is that our Aussie dollar is worth around 30 per cent LESS than the US dollar. So add 30 per cent to any rents you are considering paying.
I absolutely love the third apartment, it reminds me of the place we stayed at in Siem Reap. I miss Cambodia. The lack of pool wasn't too bad though, because Navutu Dreams resort was just down the road, and (at least in 2915, not sure about now) all you had to do was buy a drink at the bar, and you would be allowed to swim in the pool, even if you didn't stay there.
The last place was great but no pool. Three balconies that was wonderful. Outside space to me is large also. I hope you do a apartment reveal, I know you don't like to. Anyways another great video thank you.
I LOVE watching your video and the humor you bring to make it very enjoyable. I have to say you are the first foreigner to pronounce Khmer properly even though it doesn't spell the way it should sound😂😂😂.
Cool beans! I had to put my math hat on & calculate our cost in BA. If we totaled the total cost of that flat we rented together it was 7.50 Euro/Sq. meter. You’ve moved up in the world having your own place! 😎🙏🏻😜
The place in Ecuador was way better than anything you can get in Phnom Penh, but it was also far from everything. You pretty much had to have a vehicle to live there.
Currently in Thailand and hating the living situation. Arrived about 4 months ago from China where 2 bedroom apartments, a bathroom with walk in shower, kitchen space, and washing machine were the norm. Currently in a small town in central Thailand (long story short job was a bust so stuck here), living in a hotel. Literally, that's about the only "housing" available are hotels outside of the major cities. I've heard Bangkok has some nice apartments, but probably can't do it on an ESL teacher salary. Was doing visa run to Siem Reap and noticed beautiful luxury apartments 5min walk from pub street in downtown Siem Reap 300usd/month. Siem Reap was absolutely wonderful. Very clean and looks like they're still developing.
@@MegaMerlin2011 did you check renthub? Good selection there. Loads of cheap places too but they won't be very comfortable. Siem Reap way better value no question.
What agent did you use for the apartment that you guys settled on taking? I think the serviced apartment was the right choice. I'm planning on moving to Cambodia in early August. I am currently living in Bucerias, MX. North of Puerto Vallarta. I'm 68 and I like the one year multiple entry visa that Cambodia offers. I also like how easy and inexpensive it is to travel in SE Asia. I usually used Air Asia when I lived in Phuket. Who do you guys fly with?
I found my first apartment through an agent and lost my $300 deposit as the building manager told me the deposit goes to the agent. So I am very reluctant to use an agent. Or was I just one of the unlucky ones that was "scammed"?
The deposit is if anything needs to be repaired beyond normal wear and tear after you've moved out. The agent might get the deposit amount as their fee, but that comes from the landlord, not you. The lease should have outlined all of that. Next time just ask them how you get your deposit back when you move out, and check to make sure what they say is outlined in the lease.
Great video! When you are discussing costs, I presume you're talking in Canadian $? Maybe in the future you can convert into Fast Eddie's cheeseburgers? That's easier for me to understand.
When you see the Phnom Penh skyline you’d think there’d be thousands of apartments available since at night most are dark , since they’re empty OR the building hasn’t finished since the developer can’t get sales to generate cash flow. Also China is behind a lot of the development here & money is getting “tight “ to say the least. There is way better value & quality for money in Thailand. $1000 a month in nice areas of Phuket get you something nice. Phnom Penh ….No beaches, shitty streets & not a lot to do in the heat….I’d be going Thailand for better value & lifestyle.
There's definitely better value out there, but we came to Phnom Penh cause my partner was offered a job here. If you have to go to a major city, I prefer Phnom Penh to Bangkok. It's much smaller and easier to get around. There are less rules, more laid back. Feels more like a small town than a big metropolis.
What apartment would you choose and why - 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5?

Hi Ryan! Love all your videos! Wish you could produce 2 videos per week. Take care
i would stay in the old one. Loved the garden, view, pool.

Yes, that's usually the case with hotels and resorts here. It's quite nice to have that option and it would save you a bunch.
bruv those are western prices... no way id pay that much to live in PP
GREAT PRESENTATION I AM SOOOOOOOOOOO SICK OF THE BIG BUCKS VISA GAME IN >>>>THAILAND
Very nice video Ryan! Good to see you back from the land of the Maple leaf. Some nice tips here, for anyone who never lived in a tropical climate.
yer leaving out the money we cant selate do no leave out the money you know it we dont !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait for you to Photoshop in a washing machine into the background in one of these videos
You won't have to wait long.

I woulda kept looking until I found my perfect place!! I’m shocked had expensive rent it! Gesssh!!
but you can find much cheaper rents. I know as I have looked online.
Like you, no way I could afford these rents on an Australian pension.
I was pretty surprised how expensive it is too.

That apartment was great. Good times.
Love the fact that the other people see the camera and run
Cheers!

Very interesting, you had a mucher nicer place in Quito and it seems like lifestyle in equator was way better

@@itchyfeetonthecheap yeah quality of life seemed way better in equador aside from the unfortunate inside job robbery
How you enjoy the country so far after a year?
Loving it.
1100 is a total bargoon. Hard to find that price in Thailand and even harder to find a place that big there. Best wishes on your new pad.

I might move to Phnom Penh this coming summer. I'm certain I can find a place for less than $300 a month near the Tonle Sap.
I think it's doable.
Nice apartment just for me so Ryan how much most apartment in phnom Penh cost per month? Thanks again take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Most local apt are around $300/month I would guess.
like it!
Great video! When you are discussing costs, I presume you're talking in Canadian $? Maybe in the future you can convert into Fast Eddie's cheeseburgers? That's easier for me to understand.
That is a point I was not sure of either? I assumed it was US Dollars, as the rents in Cambodia are quoted in US dollars, as far as I know.
Actually USD. That's about 1.23 Fast Eddie cheeseburgers per dollar, I believe.
Wow which appartment did you take i cant figure that out lol
It's not in the video. I prefer to keep that info private.
I personally enjoyed City Slickers 2 more.
They're both good... I can't choose.
LOL love the editing job here!
Thanks very much. It's a lot of work and it's often under-appreciated.
Are the prices in USD or CAD ?
USD, which is one of Cambodia's accepted currencies.

Better air quality. And probably safer too.
