Sad story with a harsh reality. Gina is a poor innocent woman who found herself in the middle of a disaster, raped and impregnated by an ignoble being. The husband's disbelief is understandable even if he went too far in mistreating his poor wife.

Small point. In the case of memory loss/repressed the statute of limitations is modified in most states, generally starting when the victim learns of/remembers the assault. Although technically wouldn't apply to this one it would be a cakewalk to get a psychiatrist to sign off on it, or multiple if you the defense manages to find one to dispute the claim. In other words, Frankie boy would have been going to prison even if the state they happened to live in did have the standard statute of limitations. I'm not sure how many states that wouldn't apply to, but it's not many.
She probably didn't watch much of it. It was a tape originally so entirely possible that it started in the middle and upon realizing what it was she shut it off. If you don't have much experience with VHS or other tape style recordings I can understand the confusion. In the story she was transferring old tapes to DVD when she stumbled across this and decided to look for a possible donor link...it's said several times the the attorneys she contacted are the ones that updated the video to HD DVD.

At least they could throw in a line about how they paid detectives to look into every past sexual partner they could just on the off chance.

This husband is an asshole, a very unsympathetic and unlikable character. He needs therapy not her. He is the one who needs to earn her trust. The story has a nice twist at the end but the jerk husband ruins the story.
