They have done a remarkable job restoring and making everything look authentic. I'm a veteran of the 1/11th armored Cavalry Regiment in 1972. I have seen a few vehicles restored from my time, Brings back a lot of old memories.
I like how that Swiss Panzer 68 just goes in to the corner like it has wheels and not tracks. It has better steering system than any tank of that time.
Aircraft radial engine. Needs to be cranked when it stands still for a longer period of time to get the oil away from the lowest cilinders. After that only electric start for the rest of the day.
What the heck is that open topped, but tracked American vehicle at the very beginning? I've seen many Bren gun carriers & variants, but no idea what that was.... It looks as if they were driving it in reverse....(??)
How about if one of you military experts would post a comment with the time it appears and description of what it is we're looking at so that the rest of us could learn something? I'd thank you for it.
That's not a Sherman,it's similar, but it has a chassy of a m4 jumbo Sherman (Sherman jumbo is a nickname,I'm not gonna say the real name because its long)but it has a m4 Sherman turret module which could not fit on a Sherman jumbo do to it's size.
**Are we sure that the American made tank at **3:40** doesn't have a Russian engine in it?** Only Russian tanks smoke like that! Lol. It's got issues! It's clearly getting oil in its combustion chambers.
Patrick McLeod it's a radial engine-oil very commonly settles in the lower chambers causing lots of smoke. That's why those guys were hand cranking it before starting, to get some of that oil out.
@@5metalacid1 That makes sense. I forgot that some Shermans and other American armored vehicles had radial engines early on. I think they were eventually superseded by standard engines though(??) Obviously, radial engines were originally designed primarily for use in planes, but I'm curious as to the horsepower vs torque profile of radials. Obviously heavy, but relatively slow vehicles like trucks & tanks require engines that produce more torque than horsepower, and at lower rpms. But what about fighters and bombers, which is more important for those applications, torque or horsepower?
I'll be honest, I didn't click on the video to watch a bunch of obese Sherman tanks, number one McDonald's costumers. I wanted to see the Stug, all around and in a little more detail.
MrEndrius79 And the German cross was the crosshairs for allies gunners? This is a video showcasing many different tanks on both sides many years after the war ended. It's meant to let people admire the amazing vehicles produced by many nations. Why people feel the need to make comments like that I have no clue
Why people feel the need to make comments like your? A demonstration of restored vehicles is little different from real war. During the war they often painted national insignia(or obscured with mud) because they became targets. You want an example? "The stars remained in use officially until the end of the war, though in practice they were often painted out, particularly on vehicle sides, as they offered too good a sighting mark for German gunners."(cit. Peter Hodges) German also change national insignia because initial white cross are too visible by enemy gunners.
MrEndrius79 I know both of those things about the insignia already. These demonstrations are QUITE different from war. And I don't see why you don't understand people who make "comments like mine". Yours was the aggressive comment on a video meant to showcase history not praise either side.

StuG III - that low silhouette ambushing and hunting beast.
I like their disigne stug lll
Peace-Of-Mind the motor sounds so good
Pity that the old thing couldn't do more than a few yards in reverse.
These videos are fantastic. As an avid military modeler getting to see the real thing in action in modern digital video is great!
Thanks!
Great footage! Very enjoyable to watch!
Thanks!
The fog makes it look even better !!

Leopard 1 is one of the best tank design ever made. Its just so beautiful.
I like how that Swiss Panzer 68 just goes in to the corner like it has wheels and not tracks. It has better steering system than any tank of that time.
Most Excellant!.......love to have been there!
The mist that came down was a nice touch too.
Not just a StuG III but an F-8 at that !!
What a very innovative hand crank system.
Aircraft radial engine. Needs to be cranked when it stands still for a longer period of time to get the oil away from the lowest cilinders. After that only electric start for the rest of the day.
The StuG III is F or F/8 version? I think this is F/8, because the cannon looks longer than the F.
Wow the noise! Soo cool
The barrel rings on the StuG are wrong, they must be at the muzzle.
dat StuG is HOT
the exhaustpipe is hotter !
@@RexWort XDDDDDDD
The Stug III looks so cool. Like a beautiful sports car between Fiat Panda from the 80s, Except for the leopard
Those radial engined Shermans are very smokey and spluttery on startup aren't they

Pretty sure that funny looking Sherman was an Israeli M51. They modified a lot of M4A3E8 Sherman's with a French gun.
