Oh and their worst record was done in their so-called heyday-that 3rd album in 1983, and their worst ever song will probably never match the utterly dreadful 'Like An Angel' from 1982, a song that has learning difficulties all over it.
They still have that distinctive sound. Bass kills it as usual. Short but sweet this one. Duran Duran were never a pop group. Timeless music and bloody geniuses.
They were a pop group when pop music was cool, they're not a pop band by todays standards. When they came out they were one of the biggest bands of that era, call it new wave or whatever it was the pop of the day.
All "pop music" is is ANY Genre of popular music played on top 40 radio and charting on billboard singles. Even Metallica was "pop" in n late 80's-early 90's event they were charting and had singles on top 40 as well as Alt/ Rock stations.
OMG, I was nervous about this song not living upto their best work. I wake up this morning an I am on cloud 900! They maintain the sound that other groups can't touch. They have kept that uniqueness and put a modern twist on it. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album and see them on tour!
You can love'em, you can hate'em, but you won't be permitted to say they've ALWAYS been one step ahead of everyone and everything involving international pop music. They have been universally successful, and THEN they achieved absolute musical wisdom.

Though I am a goth at heart and a metal head, I am a die hard Duran Duran fan. Simon Le Bon is truly a phenomenal vocalist and songwriter. This song is outstanding! Cannot wait until the album drops...
Isn't that totally cool and awesome? I don't think any Bond movie song comes anywhere close to Duran Duran's in regards to the musical style of View to a Kill. But of course only Duran Duran could hold that esteemed position. I absolutely loved them co-starring as Bond secret agents in their own music video version of View to a Kill. I thought it was so clever. Especially when the gal at the end asks Simon's name and he says "Bon, Simon, Le Bon." The band must have had a thrill acting in that music video. Who isn't a Bond movie fan? Duran Duran and James Bond movies = perfect pairing. Plus the dramatic sonic music effects in the song were so perfectly suited to the James Bond secret agent adventure theme.
@@CarrieLuikens I don’t think the band was thrilled shooting AVTAK because they could hardly stand to be around each other at that point, which is why you don’t really any members of the band together in the same shot.

i'll be honest, i can't say i'm super into their newer stuff but i do greatly admire duran duran for not becoming a nostalgia-act and always trying to do something new! i'm certainly interested to hear the rest of the album and the video idea is interesting too. they'll always have a special place in my heart.
I can’t stop playing this, as a longtime fan this is their best single since “come undone” IMO. I play this a lot at work and everyone either asks “Who is this?” or says “That sounds like a Duran Duran song.” But, main point, it’s so good people have to stop and comment
Only because of memes and my love of Metal Gear I’ve discovered this gem of a song. I’m getting a flood of dopamine like a wave of nostalgia I’ve only felt back in 2015
I'm sixteen and a huge Duran Duran fan. Since I was a child my father made me love this band and thanks to him I attended many of their concerts, one for example was that of 2016 at the Assago forum (Milan). I couldn't wait for their new music to come out and as always they left me speechless. The song is crazy and the video is one of a kind! A little disturbing if I have to tell the truth but certainly very good. I can't wait for the album to come out and for them to do a new tour! I’m super happy!!!
Your Dad did good. I bet think you never thought of this, but...now you can relate to your father when he was 16 as well. U both at 16 have this in common. 👍
It's like "I don't want your love" meets "all she wants is" but I really quite like it.... it will be one that gets stuck in your head for days and I'll find myself humming it as I wait to cross a road
I remember being one of the few guys in my school that was so into Duran Duran back in 1983. They had a bigger female fan base then. Also remember the days they released Hungry, The Reflex, Wild Boys and A View to A Kill like it was just yesterday! Followed them through their various ups and down. Bought Medazzaland and Pop Trash when nobody was talking about them anymore. Went to their Liberty concert here in Kuala Lumpur with a few of my friends. Motive of my story, I never gave up on them. Was so happy when they got back together for Astronaut and was disappointed when Andy left again. But glad they are now stronger than ever with a massive fan base of die hards, millenials, Gen Z's and everyone in between. Truly the greatest musicians on Planet Earth. Thank you for being my North Star!
I loved those baron years of pop trash and medazzaland, they weren't cool anymore but we're still making quality music... Big thing and Notorious are probably my favourite albums (when their popularity was on the wane)... Absolutely brilliant to see them nowadays bigger than ever.

The way I have been gaslighted into thinking this was actually in mgsv and that was a song from duran duran's golden era meanwhile it is actually instead a very recent song... this is insane
Sitting here and waiting 70 minutes for the video to begin reminds me of notorious album release when I went to the record store back in 1986 to see if the album arrived.. went several times but the album didn't come yet.. remember i've had such a waiting nostalgy every time I went to the store to ask the same thing for days.. till it finally arrived.. and now?? Almost 35 years later I just pushed a button on my phone screen and it will remind me to watch the music video.. times changed but my duranie heart remained the same.. still waiting with the same fresh nostalgy to hear and to see something new from you. Those are relations for life indeed.
Invisible grows on you like a big warm static charge. This one really evokes multiple periods in the band's non-stop evolution. Damn that man can sing.
Yep, Simon still sings very well compared to rock singers in his age group or a bit older. I was watching concert footage from 2019 and thinking how his voice sounds pretty much exactly the same as in his 20s. I also watched a NYE concert they did in 1982, and even though the sound dropped out a few times, you can still hear him carrying the lead vocals very strong. I think he had theatrical training in his youth. Theatre people learn how to project their voice onstage to the back rows of the theatre, which is why theatrical performers are usually outstanding singers.
These guys are titans of the industry. Always pushing their sound while sticking with their past. Reflections of the Big Thing era for me on this track! Just killer!!

Duran Duran's music still holds up today as some of the best. They are up there with the stones and beatles. Every day of the week. And meat loaf!

To think that Duran Duran still holds the record for having the only No 1 James Bond soundtrack ever in the US charts!
Dance into the fire the fatal kiss is all we need

The way I have been gaslighted into thinking this was actually in mgsv and that was a song from duran duran's golden era meanwhile it is actually instead a very recent song... this is insane

Invisible grows on you like a big warm static charge. This one really evokes multiple periods in the band's non-stop evolution. Damn that man can sing.
Aaaagreed! Those pipes!
