2:55 😢 i cried during this mission, both cause i lost 10 S++ men whom had been decorated with medal for defending my base and going on missions. An due to them humming the peace walker theme. Each death killed a piece of me. Not causw of the amount of hours i spent with them, but cause i actually cared about them.
The end of ground zeroes/the beginning of The Phantom Pain hurt more if you played Peace walker your entire base with S+ soldiers layer in ruins before your eyes and your character gets put in a 9 years coma it truly was a phantom pain
Them having the willpower to affectionately salute instead of attack gives me chills every time I see it.

Has anyone else really thought how much this song really fits into MGSV and to Venom Snake? Specially for the Medic. Not only because it sounds from the 80s, but because the lyrics talk about struggles of identity and wanting to be recognized. I mean, this part really fits to the Medic if he was talking to himself:

this is actually a quirk with the game's engine, it can't cast shadows from people's hair. but that is a cool interpretation of it, i myself see it as the skinless demon snake from the red band trailer as the shadow of big boss's true self

I love the meaning behind every shot and how intentional everything is. It’s really cinematic
And that's on top of the game's already strong cinematic, from snake on that horse on the first proper mission to the constant side by side from the side shots showing characters being united in goals, to snake upside down staring at skullface showing they are similar but still opponents or something

I love how even the lyrics of the song fit with the game.
The line "You can't even say my name" fits with the virus that stops people from speaking their own language.
Also the whole being "invisible" fits with Venom's character so much, his true self is invisible, he's hiding behind his amnesia with the mask of big boss.
It fits because it was in game, how could hideo kojima make a song without thinking about the lyrics eelating to the game dummy

Honestly MGS1, it's simple but ambitious for its time, the gameplay still holds up (though if you're not used to d-pad input it could be awkward) and it provides the right context to see everything else through
