Thank you very much for this video. I have gotten back into the hobby last year after a 10 year hiatus and still consider myself a beginner. Zoas are definitely one of my favorites right now but that is probably cause I am having great success with them despite the algae problem I've been fighting for months now. I've even had a few frags that were completely encased in hair algae. To my surprise, once I finally got them free of the algae, they had doubled in size as well as number of polyps. Oh, They even survived a devastating heater malfunction I discovered when coming home from work and finding most things dead and my water temp at 97 degrees. I was crushed and even planned on just breaking my system down again but procrastinated a week cause I just didn't want to deal with it. Man, I was completely surprised to see that all my zoas (and a couple mushrooms) survived. These suckers are resilient! And now I have trouble NOT picking up a zoa frag when I stop by my local fish store. I've only managed it twice. lol. But my addiction is real, and hearing you praise OSA so much I wanted to check them out and see what amazing zoa options they might have. Which brings me to my question, are they still offering any corals or have they moved to just offering equipment and supplies? I don't see anything listed under livestock.
Yep! You're correct...currently no livestock on OSA's site. They are making some changes to the system so keep checking back. Thanks for watching and welcome back!
This is great content. I haven’t seen anyone else doing educational stuff like this. Most are just showcasing gear or their tanks. You earned yourself a new sub.
I agree ,the more you do it the better you get . I rushed like a mad man the first time . The scrubbing of the plugs and rock, great idea !! Excellent video , thanks .
What’s your recommendation for zoas not opening up? New tank setup beginning of January 2020. Have about 10 different kinds, 5 of the plugs are just not opening up. Others are thriving. In the beginning they were all open and then all of sudden closed.
Biggest factors with zoas are nitrates, phosphates and they are prone to bacterial stuff. I keep my nitrates between 3-5ppm and PO4 below .05. PO4 will tend to irritate them a lot.
Bahama Llama Coral thanks for the info. Do you dose for nitrates or just over feed? I’ve got 4 fish in a 40g and I can’t seem to get above 2 nitrate. I do feed twice a day and reef roids every 3 days.
Nitrifying bacteria live inside reef rock. If it all is covered by zoanthids does it looses its function or the nitrifying bacteria still does the job.
I dont know what happen in my acuarium, when i have had zoas they finally die slowly. I was wonderind if tou mind telling me about your water parametres and what kind of light you use. Regards.
Everyone always says "zoas like dirty tanks." I don't think dirty is the word I'd use but they (and most coral) prefer some nitrate and phosphate in the water. I think my ideal range is nitrates at 3-5ppm and phos under .05. All my params are pretty typical. ALK - 8, CA-420, MAG-1300ish
@@BahamaLlamaCoral sure i have the almost same parametres of you, and the only corals that is prosper in my tank is pachiclavularia and hard sinularia, maybe the problem is in the kind of light, nowadays i use a Lumina 90 blau , oh! I forgot to say this i have a nano tank of 90 litres. Do you know some kind of light for zoas? Thx for you answer me. Regards.
Love to have a Zoa rock. As soon as my bambams sprout I will have to hit you up. Right now, can't get these Zoas to grow. I am having issues with trying to keep my nutrients up, could that be it? What are your params?
I've been keeping nitrates at 3-5ppm and po4 less than .05 - zoas seem to be sensitive to high phosphates. Also, the dreaded 0 Nitrates, 0 Phosphates aren't good either.
I am super new to reefing. Got my first 2 Zoa frags. I still don’t get how to get the zoa off the frag or making the frag smaller. I feel like I’m going to cut the zoa or mess it up. I just threw the 2 frags in tank. I’m too scared to fk up
There are so many unknowns surrounding zoas and palys. I always try to wear long gloves whenever I'm working in the tank but if they are submerged you should be ok.
Great content. I would love to see a video of how to cut them off the frag plug and attach to rock underwater. Something as a beginner i don't know much about
Please make a video on how to get Zoas off the plug when they’ve grown on to it.... I got these really cool ones that had grown on the plug and idk how I’m supposed to get them off
That's usually how it goes right!? I feel like I need to mention things like that in advance so it doesn't appear in the comments as much...lol. I've gotten lazy with rinsing my tools when I'm done.
I appreciate that! I think the quarantined lifestyle has a lot more people checking out the channel. You're right though, I'll be collabing with some fellow RUclipsrs very soon!
Lol! No shade. I just can't tell if those other frags were goners already or not. Usually when they're toast they are super WHITE. These aren't there yet...fingers crossed!
Absolutely the best down to earth informative reefer I've watched! You've taught me much reef master! Editing is on point!
Thanks Eric!

Thank you for the sub! I'm just a hobbyist going through all the same things most hobbyists are going through.
Hey Remy, I hope all is well, I really enjoyed and learned new hints on adding Zoanthid on rocks. Thank you for sharing
Rock on! Thanks for watching!

I just like starting with a clean slate. If it's out of the tank, might as well clean it up a bit! Thanks for the watch!

Its about drive its about power we stay hungry we devouer put in the work put in the hours and take whats ours.
I just subscribed thank you 🙏🏻 Question can I use a rubber band with light pressure to hold my Zoe’s on a rock?
I've never used that method so I can't speak from experience. I'd use super glue gel for zoas.

Great content man! I think I’m finally prepared to frag my zoas for the first time!
You can do it! Protect yourself!
Diggingbthose venom x. Pretty sweet. Just picked up some yodas. Excited to see them grow
Yeah, the venoms are nice! love that dark center.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral need to try and find some of those locally

Nice video! I'm getting close to making my own zoa garden, will have a minimum of 10 zoas mixed up on 1 rock.
Love that idea! The more the better!
What’s your lighting schedule on AI prime?
Can send you a screen shot - DM on IG
Bahama Llama Coral I sent you a DM!
What kind of glue were you using?
Super Glue Gel I believe. Either that or polyp lab.

I just stumbled across your page, and have picked up a few tips on "how to" for my future zoa plans 😎 cheers 🍺
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching!
Awesome thank you one of my fav videos this far
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for the watch 😃

I have a big question that nobody answer me. If I have zoas, do I have to wear gloves and eye protection when I clean the skimmer and pumps?

For sure! There are several methods I can cover in another video.
Great Video! Can't wait for the next one.
More to come! I'm looking forward to next week's as well! Something different.
I had a queen on what are the dimensions for your frag tank I wanted to build one. From scratch
48"x18"x12"
Please make a video on how to get Zoas off the plug when they’ve grown on to it.... I got these really cool ones that had grown on the plug and idk how I’m supposed to get them off
You got it!! How tightly packed are the zoa heads? What kind of zoa are they?
what's the dimension of the tank on the right side of the screen?
thanks
Frag tank is 48L x 18D x 12H
How long can zoas stay out of water?
I've never had them out for longer than a couple minutes.
Love this!! New sub right here love the content man
Thanks for the sub Adam!
This helped me answer so many questions.
Which salt do you use?
Fritz Blue Box
I paid more attention to the rusty bone cutters after you told us not to... LOL xD

@@BahamaLlamaCoral We're all guilty of it, hahah xD
how much are the little shop of horror polyps going for these days ? im dying for one of those heads!!!
I wonder when I'm going to get frag cymbals.
LOL!! 😂
Awesome zoa rock great vid 😁👍🏻
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
I'm always amazed you can use regular super glue in an aquarium. always thought this stuff was very toxic ?
Just make sure it's cyanoacrylate. Super Glue Gel is reef safe along with a host of other "super glues." Always check before using though.
When in doubt, most of the reef supply companies will carry a glue...you'll pay more for it but it will give you peace of mind.
That's a good deal you got. Nice trade 👍
If they survive..... 😬 Thanks for the watch!
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the yodas I got from you. Already have two babies. Hopefully you do another swap so I can get more zoas from you.
Whatcha need!? We don't need a swap to get you more!
Bahama Llama Coral Nothing that I really need. I’m just big on zoas and have some areas in my tank I’d like to fill up with new corals.
Thanks for another awesome video. Great to learn from the #ZoaCzar
LOL! There are far more qualified for the Czar position but I'll take it, lol!

Totally get that. I am still working as normal. Radio doesn't stop. I'm grateful though for sure.

The coral gods can hear you, no worries!
Mantab manfaat joooon
Remy wearing masks before it was cool good man ;) brilliant tutorial thanks man
Lol! I'd be ok not having to wear a mask though....
This is very helpful! Haha
Glad it was helpful!
Lol everything eusts because of the salt water. Found thst out quick with my culinary tweezers
Haha Shade was thrown “ or DOA” sps more likely to die then Zoas is give him the benefit of the doubt
