- An English language teacher shares her CELTA journey and her recent experience of taking it online with ITTC Bournemouth, one of our authorised centres. Hear why she took the course, how she found it and what she’s doing now.
What is CELTA?
CELTA is an internationally recognised qualification for teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) that can be taken online or face-to-face. It is certified by Cambridge and regulated by Ofqual, the UK exams assessor. As such, it is the gold standard teaching qualification. It gives you the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to start teaching online, in a classroom and around the world.

I also took the Celta online with British Council Greece, due to coronavirus and the curfew last year. It was an amazing, though stressful experience. I have become a much better teacher now and I'm thankful to my tutors.

I wish to do CELTA online. I have completed a bachelor's degree in English literature. Currently, I am doing MPhil literature. Am I eligible for this course? I don't have any language certificate, however, I speak English fluently. I am also good at grammar, sentence structure and so on.

The criteria are the same as for CELTA.
Before contacting your centre, please check you meet the following criteria:
Are you 18 or over?
Do you have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education?
Is your English good enough to teach at a range of levels? (Minimum CEFR level high C1 or above)
With this course itself can I teach English literature?
