  • During the Winter of 2020 a partial collapse of the famous Hoosac Tunnel resulted in the west end of Panam's line to Mechanicville to be shut down. During this time trains 11R and 16R were detoured on a daily basis to get around the tunnel. Due to some 6 axle restrictions on the Vermont Railway, Panam would have to assign many of their 4 axle B40-8 to get these trains over the Green Mountains in Vermont. On February 17th 2020 we would chase the 11R detour from Just east of Rutland Vermont on the Green Mountain line to North Bennington Vermont on the B&R Line. After getting the power on the east end of the train in Rutland Vermont the new lead locomotive Panam 5967 would be a special treat having a rare Nathan M3 airhorn. This would be the first of 2 chases I would do of these trains with the second being a few weeks later.
