Really nice to see the roof beams being installed. Amazing pieces of solid wood to help hold up the roof. Bit by bit the roof is going to look lovely when done. Yes the beam is twisted but it is wood and that does happen but you made it work! Glad to see a new video today! Hopefully the rains won’t interfere with your schedule of work this fall! Great job on the video!

Love the division of labour, G sands and the guys have a tête-à-tête 😊. But a great and not so easy job hauling those beams up to the roof. The twisted beam adds a quirkiness that blends with the rustic appeal. Great video as usual.

The beam gives more character to the cottage. It doesn't show from the street, my father would say . See you soon lovely people.

Well done moving right along! You can work with the twisted beam, it will just take time cutting each rafter individuality to fit. Are the rafters going to push against the walls or sit on top? Typical construction in the Azores the rafters push on the walls and the sides of the ridge beam so the beam does not have to carry half the roof weight and every 2.5 to 3 meters they have a horizontal beam tying the walls together forming sort of a truss.

Great to see you back thought you may have been washed away with the rain in Spain, anyway the twist will not be a issue paint some more treatment on it will be fine. Clive

It's an old building so a twisted and bent ridge beem will be fine. Maybe it would look odd if everything you put in there is to striaght if you understand me. Anyway it's looking good so onwards and upwards.

You made a great solution for the twisted beam.
A professional Carpenter sees immediately the beam isn't streaght.(Sorry).

I would compress the place where the two beams join with wide washers and screws.

I don't know if it would work but if you had a bracing plate where the beams meet, if you had 10mm thick steel on the beam that isn't twisted you may be able to screw into the twisted beam and pull it straight - if you could get a piece of 10mm steel and get some holes drilled into it. It might be worth thinking about.

For me it's a house that is over 100 years old, there probably weren't any real straight lines or untwisted bits of timer on it when it was build and so it just looks like a natural part of the houses character.
Ok it is disappointing that the milled wood you bought has twisted and its perhaps not the perfect look you were after but we all know you will make the best of the bad situation as you always do and it will be hidden or obscured in the later interior finishing works.
Great progress and hard work once again from Andrius, Gildred and friends, stay safe and we will see you next time

I'm sorry it didn't work out as you had hoped. Any construction project is full of the opportunity for swearing and jumping up & down in frustration. Just don't do it when on a ladder or a scaffold.

Great to see progress on the roof. Nice that you had some extra help handling the heavy stuff! Will you throw a tarp across the roof now while waiting to do the full roof? I was expecting to see something around the olives harvesting. Nice surprise to catch progress on the roof! ❤
