Decent people like you deserves the best life has to offer!Your video was VERY informative, and now I know which lenses I want!!! Thank you so much sir!!!
I agree with the previous post, this video is excellent and very informative! I have been looking at buying some very expensive Oakley frames to add to my collection, and now i have learnt some key points which has helped aid me in my decision on what pair i'd like to buy. Really would like to just say thankyou for this video as it's really helped me and probably saved me a lot of cash too. (y)
Thank you for this very informative vid. I'm currently shopping for my first pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses. Fortunately, the online store I'm buying from will send frames for try-on before purchase. I appreciate the different models you tried on, as well as explaining the lens colors. Thank yoiu!
Great job explaining the difference. I bought some Warden with the chrome iridiums and you've made me feel a lot better about getting them. Can't wait to sport them.
Looking to buy some Oakleys soon... But I'm a big fan of green, so the Jade Iridium lenses are a must have for me. Do they have a very dark tint to them? Do they have a color tint to them as well, such as things looking more red or blue than without the them?
I haven't seen too many people rock the Batwolfs and still look like they're not out of an early to mid-90s music video, but my man, you have done it! Plus, a very insightful video. I ended up here because I am trying to find an after market replacement lens for the Oakley Double Edge sunglasses I bought recently. I love the way these glasses feel too. Since Oakley dropped the Big Taco frame, which was honestly a fantastic fitting and great looking frame for those of us who need larger frames for having larger noggins, I have been on the hunt for something similar in fit. I did locate a pair of Big Tacos on eBay from a fine gentleman Down Under, who I have purchased from a few times before. Unfortunately, the only Big Tacos left to buy anywhere are the ones that are a bone white in colour and have that late 60s light green accent on them. -Ralph! But I am going to make them work by finding a nice complimentary lens to go with them. Anyhow, I did want to see what iridium actually was and if it was subject to just being an Oakley thing, or if it is something that other companies may use as well... Kind of like how there are Transition lenses and photochromic lenses. Same sh!t, just that one is specifically brand name whereas photochromic applies to ANY other company who makes them. Kleenex vs tissue. Rollerblades vs inline skates. etc.
Check out Revant Optics. They have replacement lenses for pretty much any Oakley frame, including the Double Edge and Big Taco. I’ve reviewed some of their lenses in the past and they are pretty good. They also have tons of colors to choose from.
Nice review I'm a big Oakley fan & have a few pairs but I always get the polarize lenses. But obviously Oakley doesn't have polarized lenses in alot of colors. So I was wanting to know can you tell the difference between lenses that are polarized & that aren't polarized?
eyespy0099 Man, you say that the polarized black iridium ain't so good than other light iridium color? Shit, lately, i've been thinking to get a polarized oakley sunglasses but i prefer black iridum because i think it looks very good on me, and i also have Holbrook 24k Shaun White and a pair of Ray Ban with light iridium, so i'm kinda bored about light iridium, you know what i mean? So, i'd like to try with black iridium which i really like. However, i'm really confused because i've read several comments who says the black iridium it is darker and "boring" to see through it. Is that true? Man, i really hope your opinion about this. Thanks
Thank you so much for the help! I was looking for Oakley frogskins, and I didn't quite understand what Iridium was. But now i do thanks to your video! :)
Excellent video and very informative. Can I ask what type of lenses you would suggest for daytime driving? Should I go for the darkest lens, in cases when the sun is shining directly in my face?
Iridium gives you the mirrored look and adds an extra level of contrast. Polarization is a film within the lens that reduces glare. Glare is scattered light. Polarization makes it so that the scattered light can only come in at certain angles.
there are two types of vr28, there is the regular vr28 and vr28 black iridium. if you go with the vr28 black iridium polarized then it will definitely be darker than grey and a good color for the summer at the beach.
I like yellow for night driving, and the ones with the best reflective on the outside and if they can curve around your head and eyes help if you are a "welding helper" to prevent "flash burn". FYI flash burn CAN occur with your eyes shut at times. Polarized for fishing and boating takes the blinding glare off of the water, heck yeah!
Hi mate, really great and useful videos you have on your channel. Just love the Oakley reviews! I have a question: I am planning to buy a tortoise Hijinx w/ dark bronze lens soon. I had a Dragon Optical Rev sg before (same structure:tortoise with bronze/ brownish lense) but it was stolen. :( I just want to know that how dark or how light the see-through of the Hijinx lenses in normal sunny circumstances ? I mean, is it a calming, clear bronze-brownish or is it closer to a stiching, yellow feel ?
i have a pair of oakley x10's with a polarized ruby lens (i think that is the color, i got them at a sunglass hut in baton rouge and the guy didn't really have much info on them) and they are a little tight and dont really block out a lot of light, plus they are bulky. i was thinking of getting a new pair of oakleys for christmas for marching band camp next year. i used my x10's this year, and even with them on i couldnt look without squinting. i was thinking of getting a pair of black or white gascans with ice iridium lens. what do you think? i dont really like the design on any of the sport or active frames or lenses, so it has to be a lifestyle type frame.
Hey, love your videos .. One Question, as you are the master .. What is the darkest Oakley black looking sunglass lens which does not have a reflective coating ?
Cool video. Myself personally having a wider head and face I have found the Eyepatch 2 from Oakley fits me like a glove.:) True every face is different however where I live there are zero Oakley stores or any that carry any Oakley's. I did a blind buy off of Oakley's website and got lucky. Every Single day I sport them proudly. I got the newer steel color with black iridium polarized lens. Wicked awesome looking.;)
Great video man. and very informative. I have to add something with my recent experience..... I purchased the black iridium radar pitch lenses and after a day or 2 im not happy with them. I find they look quite dull looking through them compared to a purpleish pink lens that i also have. The moment i look through a lighter lens (or even a grey) there is that crisp sharp vision hdo that the black iridium doesnt have. just looks dark and dull so to speak. (im no expert with Oakleys either)
I hear you! My X metals came with those lenses and I swapped them out for the fire iridium and holy cow what a difference. The fire has a nice bright contrast that makes colors stand out. Fire may not be the best one out there but I really like them for driving on sunny days.
Thanks for the video really helped. Im trying to decide on a pair of custom eyepatch 2's off oakleys site, Would you say a red metallic logo would match the ruby iridium lenses or are the ruby lenses more of an orange? figured with your collection of glasses youd be a good person to ask. thanks!
depending on the angle you might be able to make out your eyes while wearing G20 black iridium. as for vr28 black iridium they should be a little darker than g20
if it's always going to be overcast then you can go with vr28 but if there is a chance of some sun they i would recommend grey polarized so it will cut the glare from the sun reflective off the water
Since I don't wear sunglasses much and not too flashy with all the colors I would have liked to see the grey vs black. I bought the Jupiter Squared in Brown Tortoise/Dark Bronze but really dislike the bronze tint so I was looking at getting the Warm Grey or Black Iridium Polarized. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch. Like Longhorn959 said, "Best review out there hands down" though.
Hi, thank you for the nice video! I'm planning on getting an Oakley specially the wiretap model but I've noticed most of the stores I went in has a stamped on it made in china, I just want to know if it's authentic even if it says that cause I saw a video about how Oakley sunglasses were made and the video clearly shows it's in the US. Thanks!
Yeah, I ordered a pair of custom oil rigs, and it took them 6 weeks, because of the the frame color I chose(out of stock), but in the end I got free overnight shipping, and a free case.
the frogskin are a more sporty laid back frame so it all depends on the look you are going for. as for the colors it all depends what's available but for the look i would go with something bright and loud. i don't wear polarized because my eyes are to subseptible to the sudden change in light and i get headaches
hey man great vid..i have a question for the protection index of the violet iridium lens...is it good or not?because oakley says index 1 which is low...do you have a specification sheet which confirms or something?thankou
I have a pair of Fives Squared with black iridium polarized. I was wondering if this design is different enough to spend $140 on. The Jade Iridium doesn't seem to actually present itself as much as I had thought. What are your thoughts?
Are you using Original Oakley Lens or replacement?, if yes, what do you think of the replacement from ebay? and how about you compare one of those color with one of your original. Great video loved the purple ones and gold 24k, I ended buying both lenses for my flack jacket xlj.
If you want to reduce glare you should go for a polarized lens. A standard lens will bring the glare down some but not as much as polarization. Iridium is great for adding an extra layer of color contrast and a stylish mirrored look.
Quick question man, hopefully you can help me, do you consider the Jade and violet iridium, both mid-range lenses, which one do you prefer? Thanks in advance.
I'm in quite a fix. I've been wanting to buy the Oakley Holbrooks but I'm not sure whether I should go for the Iridium black lenses or Iridium black polarised. Help please! :)
Hi, you showed the positive red iridium lens with a very bright colord frame, i am looking to get a pair of custom radarlocks with a matte heather grey frame. How reflective will the be?
I have two pair of oakleys I would not buy another glasses. However what I was in the middle east I had a pair of Bolle sunglasses which had real glass in them and they were cool.
with the black iridium, do you know if it actually lets more light in if its polarized, as I seem to be getting alot of sun reflection and light coming through on my Oakley Valves I just got, the 009236-06, polarized under direct sunlight, although I dont know if these have a mirror finish to them, and that's what I should look for to prevent that. Like IE going for a mirror polarized next time.
Kavinsky Smith hey just to let the person who one upped this know, i figured it out, I didnt bother checking the fit between the lense and my cheek's in the front, and it was allowing/reflecting light into my eyes and into the glass, hence why you see ball and football players putting black lines in that particular area to prevent that. all I did was check the space between the lenses and the temples.
Great Video. Do you know about the frogskins gp75? In the oakley's web site it says: "Color: Matte Black/Black Iridium" and in the 'Lens Tints' section for these glasses it shows only black iridium. But in description section it says: "The lenses are Grey to help you maintain color recognition and optimize your vision in bright sun..." I saw some pictures of these glasses and now I'm in doubt about its darkness. Is it grey or black iridium? Thanks a lot!
I got a wierd question that I don't ever see u covering. On my oakley radarlock I noticed there is a spring loaded twin holding the arms together. On my gascans I think there wasn't any pin holding the arms together. So I'm assuming there is a different hinge/pin holding the arms together on different models. So could I get a tool that can tighten a hinge on a radarlock just in case it gets lose? Or does that not exist. Or does that never happen?
I was thinking about buying one of Oakley's fast jackets and i was wondering if the colors of the icons and the lenses would match. The lenses are ice iridium and the icons are team navy blue. They are both a tint of blue and i don't know if they would look right together.
hey, i just have a question for you, i am interested in getting another pair of oakleys but i cant make up my mind on what to get, i am either thinking on getting some flak jackets or some fuel cells, i just figured that you could give me some advice on the ones you think i should get.....thanks and i love your videos!!
Thank you for the information. I am in process of purchasing a pair of dark lens Oakley. My last pair of sun glasses were polarized and every time I looked at cars with tinted windows I will see a rainbow. Do you know if Oakley has that same problem?
when you say protection index are you referring to the uv rays because all oakley lenses, regardless of color, are 100% uva, uvb and blue ray protectant. i believe what they mean by index 1 is the amount of light the actual color of the lens lets in which would equate to how light or dark they are
What would be the best lenses for golfing, everyone says g30s but i dont want to be able to see my eyes and i feel like you would be able to see them with the g30
Do you have an example of the normal gray lens vs say the black iridium? I'm looking to buy a subtle pair of black radars but I don't want the gray to be too light.
Do any of your plastic frame Oakley's squeak either when stretching the arms apart (to put them on) or when unfolding the arms? I just got a pair of Straight Jackets and they are squeaking quite loud when opening and putting them on. I'm reading mixed responses online and hope I didn't get a fake pair or something..?
Decent people like you deserves the best life has to offer!Your video was VERY informative, and now I know which lenses I want!!!
Thank you so much sir!!!
2:00 Ruby Iridium
2:30 Black Iridium

hi mom

10:21 ?????
u sir are a legend
This video helped me with EXACTLY what I was looking for! Great video! Thanks.
Very specific about each lens as we'll as frames, of which you showed.
very useful.. i was looking for what a certain type of lens looks like. Answered my question! thanks
Swear I come back to this video at least once a year
I agree with the previous post, this video is excellent and very informative!

This video helped me. Thank you for helping me decide my lens color.
Im watching this in 2020 but i dig all your videos man. You're straight to the point and very informative
Thank you for the support, I’m glad you enjoy the videos.
I think those offwhite gascan looks amazing on you, but you have a head shape that can pull off many different styles
How much have you spent on Oakleys?
You have a nice collection, and I hope you still have it!!!

Violet Iridium is the best lens in my opinion ! Beautiful juliet that you have .
You always put out some great videos man..informative and on point
Excellent video, thanks so much. I am buying Monster Dog with Black Iridium lens on eBay, your video came very handy to see the lens in action.
Fantastic video bro. Helped me out tremendously
Thank you so much for the help! I was looking for Oakley frogskins, and I didn't quite understand what Iridium was. But now i do thanks to your video! :)
yes i;ve tried them and they would be good for cloudy days as long as they stay cloudy because they do let in a lot of light
Excellent video and very informative. Can I ask what type of lenses you would suggest for daytime driving? Should I go for the darkest lens, in cases when the sun is shining directly in my face?
it should look fine on a matte black frame but it does tend to have a rose colored tint to it when looked from the outside
You sound exactly like Vince Vaughn.
yellow and persimmon are two other options for night time ridding. depending on the model you can also get high intensity yellow
It would help to know if any of these sample lenses were polarized and whether there is a difference if you get the iridium polarized lenses.

great review. thanks.
how different between half jacket 2.0 xl and half jacket ? Is it better fit than flask ?
Hi mate, really great and useful videos you have on your channel. Just love the Oakley reviews! I have a question: I am planning to buy a tortoise Hijinx w/ dark bronze lens soon. i can tell you that they are fake btw
the black iridium will be pretty mirrored because it's a fairly dark lens
Hey, love your videos .. One Question, as you are the master .. What is the darkest Oakley black looking sunglass lens which does not have a reflective coating ?
Digging the Jade/Violet lenses the most. Emerald looks pretty sick on those Batwolfs.
Wicked awesome looking.;)
it all depends on if they have all the parts in stock and what kind of shipping you pay for
yes, that is the color of the actual lens regardless of the lens coating
Awesome video. It deffienatly helped a lot with what kind of lense I want on my Holbrooks. Either Ice iridium or the Fire iridium lenses. Thanks man.
Great video man. and very informative.
I have to add something with my recent
experience.....
I understand what you mean. The black iridium is supposed to be dark and not increase contrast. It's designed to block out the most amount of light.
I hear you! My X metals came with those lenses and I swapped them out for the fire iridium and holy cow what a difference. The fire has a nice bright contrast that makes colors stand out. Fire may not be the best one out there but I really like them for driving on sunny days.

depending on the angle you might be able to make out your eyes while wearing G20 black iridium. as for vr28 black iridium they should be a little darker than g20
I just bought the Crankcase glossy white with emerald lenses and im wondering if the emerald looks like the jade? thanks ps awesome video
Thanks bro, this video helps a lot of ppl out there
if it's always going to be overcast then you can go with vr28 but if there is a chance of some sun they i would recommend grey polarized so it will cut the glare from the sun reflective off the water

What are your thoughts?
if you have the sun shinning directly in your face then yes, i would recommend going with as dark a pair as possible
Are you using Original Oakley Lens or replacement?, if yes, what do you think of the replacement from ebay? and how about you compare one of those color with one of your original. Great video loved the purple ones and gold 24k, I ended buying both lenses for my flack jacket xlj.
recommended for playing tennis and receiving direct sun in the eyes?
I cannot decide between the fire iridium and the ruby iridium for the oil rigs.... What do you think?
Great video man, as always. Keep the oakley vids coming!
If you can get prescription lenses for those Oakley sunglasses, how much would they cost?
From the looks i would go with the positive red, jade, ruby or black iridium
how is the view with the ice iridium lens? what do you think is the best lens for golfing. the ice iridium looks nice
the ice iridium look just like the black iridium when you look through them. for golf, the best lens is the G30 which is Oakley's golf specific lens.
Can you do a demonstration of the oo black iridium lenses that are on the titanium square wire glasses?
Could You Do a Update video this time the New Prizm lenses.
Besides buying an Oakley replacement lens, what brand lens would you recommend for a replacement lens for my batwolf... Thanks
I have two pair of oakleys I would not buy another glasses. However what I was in the middle east I had a pair of Bolle sunglasses which had real glass in them and they were cool.
About durability oakley matte black and polished black, what is your opinion? Greetings from Brazil!
Very good lens review man. Congrats.
do you like the fire iridium or the ice iridium more? im going to get some oilrigs but i dont know what lens to get
what is darker; the grey polarized or the black iridium polarized lense? by the way, great video, very informative.
Thanks, but is it dark enough for bright sunlight?
@eyespy009
does wearing warm grey lens makes your eyes visible to other people ? or not really ?
5:52 lizzary on fence behind him 🦎🦎🦎
Black Iridium is good for snow or sand
with the black iridium, do you know if it actually lets more light in if its polarized, as I seem to be getting alot of sun reflection and light coming through on my Oakley Valves I just got, the 009236-06, polarized under direct sunlight, although I dont know if these have a mirror finish to them, and that's what I should look for to prevent that.
In the oakley's web site it says: "Color: Matte Black/Black Iridium" and in the 'Lens Tints' section for these glasses it shows only black iridium. what color blocks your eyes the most?
Thank you for the information. I am in process of purchasing a pair of dark lens Oakley. My last pair of sun glasses were polarized and every time I looked at cars with tinted windows I will see a rainbow. Do you know if Oakley has that same problem?
Can you get prescription lenses in the Oakley monsterdog, gascan and similar Oakley sunglasses?
Thank you for this video I have been searching!
when you say protection index are you referring to the uv rays because all oakley lenses, regardless of color, are 100% uva, uvb and blue ray protectant. i believe what they mean by index 1 is the amount of light the actual color of the lens lets in which would equate to how light or dark they are
yes, a grey lens will make the eyes visible in the sun
I wanted to get the batwolf in matte black...and I don't know which lens I should get ruby iridium or fire iridium...which do you recommend better?
no they are different colors, the jade is a deeper green

What would be the best lenses for golfing, everyone says g30s but i dont want to be able to see my eyes and i feel like you would be able to see them with the g30
Do you have an example of the normal gray lens vs say the black iridium? I'm looking to buy a subtle pair of black radars but I don't want the gray to be too light.
Best review out there hands down
I would always choose the Ruby... I think it's a really cool lens.
dude... thank you. this is exactly what i was looking for. great video.
Exactly the information I needed. Thanks Cheech!
What is the difference between the Black Iridium Polarized and the OO Black Iridium Polarized lenses?
On the Oakley website under "accessories" they list replacement lenses and accessory lenses is there a difference? So far I have not found any
