"Me and the South", a southern rock song that takes you on a tour of the south starting with southern girls, delicious foods, beautiful sunsets, redneck places, and places in the southern heart. "Let me take my guitar out and sing about me and the south".
All the old southern rock is getting miles of airplay now in 2024, soon to be 2025. I didn't understand why no one was attempting to write some new Southern rock with the traditional sound, so I wrote these two songs and Rock Southern Inc., some good old boys recorded them, not for release but for demo's to pitch.
My favorite southern rock band is the inspiration for these two songs. Ole Ronnie Van Zant could wheel and deal lyrically in the finest southern tradition. This first song "Me and the South", has every southern girls name I could think of including Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird. It's got Sun Records in it, sunsets, southern whiskey, grits and eggs, mountain oysters, guess what they are you folks from New England and the other yankee states, not leaving out the mid western and west coast. "Let me take my guitar out, and sing about, Me and the South". Oh yes, think of the songs still left in Ronnie Van Zant's soul that flew away with him off of that plane that crashed instead of landing. So much lost talent that fell from the sky over the years. "Don't Be Drinking When You're Mad" gets a tip of the hat to Morgan Wallen. I even have the chair in this song that got thrown off a roof. Ole Morgon is a southern hell raiser, but he's only human. He has had great success as a country singer. I hope his troubles are dealt with fairly. Nobody's perfect. He is an Alfa male and sometimes we men just lose it. Treat him right judge. I think he's a good guy, just 120% male. Please accept his humility and apology for I feel it is sincere. This songs for you Morgan and the rest of us guys who screw up from time to time. No one got hurt, just like in Trumps trumped up case with the bank who says Trump did nothing wrong and no one lost money, "we made money" said the bank involved. Anyway guys, Don't Be Drinking When You're Mad, smoke a joint instead. Drive on Morgan and good luck along the way. God bless the USA and southern rock.
