I love her transparency. I've been practicing mindfulness meditation to manage my anxiety in the morning, and it helps a lot. I usually use mindfulness exercises from the book 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels because they're easy to follow and effective, and will sometimes read from the Tao Te Ching. It's so important to detach from the mind, even for just 10 min per day.
Thank you for your lovely comment! I have been practicing my mindfulness meditation regularly for the last little while and I am starting to feel it helping. I now look forward to my morning meditation so much. I also just started doing the 4-7-8 seconds breathing method whenever I feel super anxious and it does help calm the mind and body. The method is: breath in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds, and repeat a few times. I repeat it about 5 to 10 times in a row whenever I feel really anxious. Thank you so much for the book recommendations I will definitely look into those. I am always looking for new material on how to manage anxiety. Thank you so much for sharing. 🤗
So proud of you that you recognize your anxiety, talk about it and doing your best to combat it! Don’t give up! Be strong! Anxiety is real and it sucks but we got this!💪🏻🙌🏻🥂
Thank you so much! You are always so sweet and kind with your comments and I appreciate it so very much! 🥰 thank you for always being so supportive. ❤️🤗
I think, as someone who doesn't have anxiety it is helpful to hear these stories and experiences from people who do so that we can better understand how to be there for others. Thank you for being so open. 🧡
Hey Cristina! Loved the day in the life/ grwm format of this video. 10/10. As far as the anxiety thing goes, I've been on quite the journey over the years. It was hard finding the right therapist to help tackle the root issues. Medication therapy has really helped me tremendously, BUT- I did try a new medication over the summer and things kinda spiraled and got not great for a second. Then I had half of my thyroid removed due to a nodule. In social situations I practically have a running dialogue in the back of my mind telling myself that it's going to be ok, these people don't give a shit, if I see someone I'm not very fond of- it's not like we're going to have a "show down" right then and there. I just do my best to smile and keep on moving. I still haven't cracked the code on this, but I've gotten it to the point where I find it manageable. When the untimely fight or flight response kicks in I try to remember that whatever the situation is, I have control over my actions and I can get through it. The fears of being judged crept in later in life, but I think the foundation for myself started in middle school or something. I've been trying to reclaim some of my confidence that I had when I was younger, and truly not caring about the judgements of others. Lol.. it's a work in progress. PS- I love how you mixed your foundations. Your glasses really complimented your shirt too- love the look. Also- I think it's pretty cool that you have a group of friends that you actively go out to see. Relationships take work and effort and it's important to maintain them. This makes me want to reach out to some of my friends and do a low key dinner/catch up. Sending good vibes for the anxiety. Thanks for putting yourself out there and normalizing these experiences and therapy
Hi Amy! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with anxiety. Hearing other people’s experiences makes me and I am sure others experiencing similar things feel less alone and maybe even a little hopeful. I am so sorry to hear about your struggles this summer, that must’ve been a really tough time, but I am so glad things are getting better. ❤️ I also have a similar dialogue in my head that I go through when I am anxious, I tell myself “You’re ok, there is nothing wrong, everything will be ok.” And I keep repeating it in my head. I am also nowhere near having it figured out but I am re-teaching myself how to manage it. I feel like with anxiety I always need to learn new ways to manage it and at the same time keep practicing what has worked in the past. Some days are better than others but I am making a little bit of progress. I am also working on building my confidence because sometimes it is almost non-existent, between my colleagues at work and my friends that is one of the main things they are telling me I need to build and work on. It’s not easy but I think overall this process of working on myself to build myself up will be truly rewarding. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your story, I am so honored and grateful that you felt comfortable enough to do so. I am sending you all the positive energy for the anxiety! You got this! Also, thank you for being so supportive, it really means so much! 🥰
❤ Sorry to hear that you struggle with anxiety. I do too. I’m autistic, so some of my anxiety is related to that. However I’ve also been through a lot of hardship in my life which has contributed to my anxiety and depression. I’ve been in therapy several times with various results. And actually the best tips I got from a therapist was the following: When you feel the anxiety and or depression creeping up on you, either speak out loud or say it in your mind: ‘Listen. I see you (your anxiety) and respect you. Right now I need a break. We can talk about it in the morning.’ If you’re at home, open the front door or the balcony door, and gently show the way out (to the anxiety.) It might sound simple, but it’s one of the few things that has actually helped me in a practical sense. The point is to treat your anxiety like a child. - A child you love, and respect, and therefore want to gently but firmly set boundaries for. Anyway, loved this vlog, and remember: you’re so not alone in dealing with these things. ❤ Lots of love from me!
Thank you so much for sharing, I am so sorry to hear about your struggle. You are not alone. ❤️ I am also in therapy and I am learning new ways to cope and different techniques. I’ve been implementing them and they help but it’s still really tough at times to implement them especially mid-anxiety attack when you feel so out of control. Thank you for also sharing your technique, I learned a similar one in therapy as well (I just uploaded a video about how I cope with anxiety and I speak about it in there). I basically acknowledge the anxiety and say “anxiety, I know you are here visiting but I am safe and you don’t need to take over or be here”. I really like your technique where you tell the anxiety that you need a break or you show the anxiety the way out. Thank you so much I will definitely incorporate this in my coping with anxiety tool kit. I am also glad you enjoyed my video and I am so grateful that you felt comfortable sharing your experience. Lots of love and remember we got this! ❤️
