- The S2 Series began in 2013 to provide players with the fit, feel, and attention to detail of PRS craftsmanship in a fresh, straightforward design. Since its introduction, the Series has grown from three models to more than a dozen options for players - one of the most recent introductions being the S2 McCarty 594. The 10th Anniversary S2 McCarty 594 has been specially appointed to celebrate the Series’ milestone occasion and to deliver more tone, more beauty, and more value than ever before.
The 10th Anniversary S2 McCarty 594 builds on the original specs of the S2 McCarty 594, retaining a maple top, mahogany back, 24.594” scale length, 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck, PRS two-piece bridge, and vintage-style tuners. Special appointments include: a Cuban mahogany neck, mother of pearl bird inlays, and - most notably - USA-made PRS 58/15 LT pickups and electronics. PRS 58/15 LT (“low turn”) pickups are vintage-inspired pickups with exceptional clarity. Designed to capture the sweetness of vintage single coils and the warmth of late 1950’s humbuckers and fine-tuned using the PRS TCI process, these pickups are lively and open with a focused midrange and balanced treble and bass.
1,000 10th Anniversary S2 McCarty 594 Limited Edition instruments will be made.

The 58/15 LTs now being on a S2 is a game changer
They kind of had to do it now the SE McCarty’s are here with the previous S2 pickups.
@@JonWickensMusic I think only the 1000 limited edition models are getting the core pickups.
Looks like these are listing for $2399 - about $500 more than a regular S2 594 and about exactly what PRS is charging for a set of 58/15LTs right now via their website - I guess you do save ~10% the cost of the pickups ($50) vs doing the upgrade yourself.
@@mattc2674 Those are more than 1000€ more here in Germany than the normal S2 594. These prices are just crazy.
But it's also limited edition so serial number and exclusiveness are also takeaways for some of us. To each there own though. I think this video brought us all here for us to evaluate and decide for ourselves if there is value-vs-gain for this new introduction. I think PRS put in some fine and welcomed additions to this year's S2 releases. I didn't ultimately purchase this S2 10th anniversary McCarty 594. I went with a different S2 10th anniversary. All-in-all, this is still an amazing guitar and value, in my humble opinion.
I just got mine last week. Amazing is scratching the surface of this guitar. I own several cores and this S2 has moved to become one of my favoriates. I'm so glad i found this 10th anniversary model. I normally use guitars with a trem but played a regular S2 594 in a store & wow really enjoyed it. I researched a little and decided on this anniversary 594. Pickups are super clear & can go from chicken picken to metal. I was not crazy about the tuners look & worried about it holding tune but it stays in tune pretty much all night. It even arrived in tune enough that I coudl have gigged it out of the box. I played it for almost a full 4 set gig the day after I got it. Can't seem to put it down. Those pickups are a 10/10. I got the green model it has one of the nicest tops I have seen on an S2 & POPS. it's a looker & a player. They have hit a grand slam out of the park.
I am waiting for mine, hard to stay patient haha glad to hear youre enjoying yours!
great sounding PRS
I love what PRS is doing with the S2 line. I love my S2 custom. No shade on the SE line, S2 gives you a little more of the intended PRS experience
Order placed today! Lake Blue. Very happy to get in on this limited edition. I currently own a 2020 S2 Single Cut in McCarty Burst. As noted by others..."the most comfortable LP type" I have ever played. I upgraded the entire electronics package a year later in '21 (worth the effort but a pain). A bit about S2s... They share the same one-piece mahogany back as Core 594s and, with the 594, the same bridge and tailpiece. They also have the same fret wire as the Cores. Regardless of the S2 multipiece neck... it is the sonic quality of the woods used in S2s and the added skill and scrutiny of the USA assembly line that primarily separates them from the SE guitars (which, are now shockingly good for the $$$). It is these attributes and the comfort of the bevel cut bodies that make S2s worth the money to me and many others. Add Core electronics to the mix and my guess is they will sell all of these (1,000 594s, 1,000 Custom 24s) quickly and easily.
I think these instruments will hold value exceptionally well.
How did you end up liking that Lake Blue S2? Thinking about pulling the trigger myself.
I certainly love mine! This said, it’d be out of this world to see PRS do a version with the US pickups/electronics AND a 10 top! I’d happily pay even more than what the 10th anniversary edition goes for! I love the S2 top carve and what I just suggested would be total Cloud 9!!!
😎👍💓🇺🇸🎸 LONG LIVE PRS!!!
RELIC FREE SINCE 1985!
Eyeing this up since I got my first PRS- the silver sky SE. PRS is making the best value, best quality guitars today. I went through numerous guitars before realizing PRS is the way to go.
Always love those 594 McCarty's ive got an S2 and Core both my favorite guitars hands down
I got mine and I’m tickled Eriza Verde!
Got mine ordered! I’m so excited.
Looks great! Tempting with the upgraded pickups but $450 extra over the stock model is tough to swallow.
I'm sure thats mostly due to the pickup upgrade. Tough to go with the extra $400 for sure tho
Still a huge difference in price between this and the core. Sounds and plays amazing. Can't go wrong with it
Just got in the 58/15LT tci for my s2 McCarty now I have to figure out how to wire these bad boys up. S2 + 58/15LT’s is the the Cheat Code, hell of a combo
Wow that's a very sweet-sounding guitar.
S2 bliss!!!! I’m up for this!
S2 have broad maple top cut while core have violin maple top cut.depend on body type preference.with the added 58/15lt pickups is like a another options to the body guitar preference.
Would have loved if you did a singlecut version too!
They just released a Singlecut version too,but it's the SE not S2
@@LuisMorales-xr1gm yeah key difference there
@@lewismcnicholas2631 for sure. I'm sure an S2 594 is in the forecast tho. And if they do make it in the future ,they most likely do both versions, Singlecut and the double cut.
I'm in love 🫶🏽
C'mon S2 594 Singlecut Soapbar in Goldtop. That would keep me from lusting over the Modern Eagle V. For a while anyway.
This!!
They need more P90 guitars. I want a S2 594 Special with P90s and a wraparound bridge on the Thinline body.
Although it’s crazy how P90ish the TCI Paul’s guitar pickups are. It’s a secret P90 treasure and I prefer them to my LP Special P90’s.
the only thing that separates this S2 version to the Core is the body cut and aesthetics of Core. otherwise it's almost same.
What are the tone characteristics of the Cuban Mahogany neck vs the stock S2 Mahogany? What makes Cuban Mahogany an upgrade? Im genuinely curious, Thanks!
These are freat!
Does Core pickup in S2 mean this is as good as the Core models?
Need it
Does it come with hard case ?
What color of finish
Lunch the dgt s2
They’ve just done the SE. No need for an S2.
s2 and se are so different apart trust me.thats why the price is so different.same for core models between s2.much differ again
Honestly, the finishes in the SE line are way more attractive IMO
The S2 black amber is better imo
What color?
This is the dark cherry sunburst color. This is what it looks like despite what all the stock photos of the dark cherry sunburst look like on any retailers websites. Just got mine today and it looks a bit nicer in person but kind of bummed it doesn't look more like the color shown on the websites.
Why would anyone pay $2,500 for a new S2 when you're entering used Core territory at that point? I don't get it.
This limited run version is $2399, the core is another $2k on top
If you want to bring used into then get a used S2 for $1300
Well its new vs used, same materials, same pickups, virtually same feel and playability. Why would I pay more for a used core that sounds the same? Looks is the only thing I can think of or just so I can brag and say I have a core.
Lmao just buy a legit 594 used for 3k
