Work hard when you're young, live below your means, and save / invest as much as you can and you'll be able to retire early go wherever you want without having to try doing it living out of the back of a Jeep. Not that there is anything wrong with camping, but you should do it because you *want* to , not because you *have* to. I'm a retired engineer and I did my time in the cubicle rat race and now I can go anywhere in the world if I want to.

Thanks again Michael ruclips.net/user/OverlandBound for the REVERSE-PULL-START maneuver ;) CHECK THESE COOL PEOPLE OUT The Traveling Together Journal (Amy & Matt) they have a great vlog and a cool dog. ruclips.net/channel/UC1lbODyUJlK0Ll7xJZ7ggSg
A common problem is bad grounds on yj's I know I own one. Best thing to do is every couple of months clean the terminals from the battery to seloniod and to starter as well as the ground to the eng block. I have seen many people keep changing starters because of this problem. They sound like they are dieing and crank slow cleaning the ground normally fixes it. And when ever always park on a hill LOL. I bet you have jumper cables you can jump from battery straight to starter if the seloniod or the starter switch on the steering shaft ever fails. They are adjustable and I have seen them come loose slide down and then the truck won't start when you turn the key. While hitting the starter does work sometimes it is not a good idea the magnets in them can crack then it is junk. Hope this helps and good luck now you have had it appart you can easy rebuild one,I bet it will still work if you fix the grounds If it bench tested then chances are it is still good.
Hey Jake! just hopped on the channel here after watching your Medano Pass video. Im Jacob as well but my jeep is a 2014 JKU 2.5 in Rubi Express Lift with 33" Pro Comp A/T tires. Love the look of Jade and have been really enjoying your videos. Im an Ohio Guy but have had my jeep as far out as Yellowstone, already 100k miles on her. Maybe one day we can get a ride going and hit some fishing holes sometime but love you channel and the positive vibes! Jeep on!
Jake, I love how you always take a few minuets for fans and followers who you run into on the road. You are always polite and appreciative of the love your followers show you. RUclips needs more content providers like you! Thanks for sharing your life and journey with us. Cheers, Johnathon
Freshly made tortillas are one of the greatest things life has to offer. I prefer corn, but I'd take either. Glad you're enjoying Mexico. Its a great place.
I am so glad that you, Jade, Izzie, and Annie are enjoying your travels. After seeing your last couple videos, if I ever travel outside the country again...Yeah...Mexico is at the top of the list.
Awesome to see the forgotten art of the clutch pop is still alive! One of the reasons I prefer standard transmissions! Can't do that with an automatic.
I had a Renult 10 that could be started with the jack handle. I had to use it once. It worked like a dream my buddies sister who I was taking to the store at the time thought it was Fresco frijoles.
Hey jake, from one jeeper to another. I would suggest looking at an wiring upgrade for your starter and all that. I can send you a link to a local place that does all of that stuff. Did it on my jeep and made a world of a diffrance.
Dude you are so cool I admire your videos so much every time I see them it brings so much adventure to my life in the way of just damn I wish I could just walk away and do what you do but I have my business to run in the family to attend to keep it up keep up the great videos are so much fun
glad you got Jade going. I've never popped the clutch in reverse before. This has been a neat adventure to follow. That's incredible to find a wrangler in Baja!
I think you might want to make sure you have " the big three" electrical covered on Jade since starters die young in the service of the king. Your interpersonal skills serve you well...carry on!
Glad you got her started but she's got some miles on her now so it looks like you might have to start carrying spare parts with you now. CYA. Good luck with your travels. Love the videos!
Hey Jake, Glad you had a great trip to Baja!! Glad you are having a blast. The videos are great, and I look forward to each new one. Just wondering if you are coming back to Southern Arizona. Lots of neat things to see here (I sent you that list of things to do here). I'm planning on heading up to the Overland Expo in May. If you are still in the area (Arizona/New Mexico etc), you should try to go again. I know you had a great time last year ( I think that is where you met Michael). Looking forward to meeting up some time. Safe travels to You, Izzy, Annie, and Jade. :)
Jeep Driver - Yes, Izzi and I will be heading to Overland Expo West for sure this year! Yes, had a great time and really looking forward to it this year. Look for us! Thank you!
Best vlog in a while Jake! The whale video from the drone may have been one of the coolest things you have shown from your journey! As always, can't wait to see more! Frijoles Frescos!
Jake can you make a video of your jeep and how you converted it from a yj to a cj and all the gear you have on it. Bumpers/bags/everything it would be great
Jake love what you guys do daily and all your videos I plan on doing something similar next year I want to get all the jeep badges now that I see you are in mexico 🇲🇽 it’s inspires me more I haven’t had the guts to go to Mexico on my jeep i admire you guys and you guys keep up the good work bendisiones pa ustedes from cali
Should do a water bumper mod. That would be cool to experiment with. Those bumpers take up a lot of space.. could utilize it and make it a pressurized hose pipe. With filtration too
A reverse clutch pop! I thought no one knew how to do that anymore since automatic transmissions are not so popular anymore. I've done it a time or 2.. lol You made me proud in this one. Loving the IG pics of Anners, too. Hugs
Pull starts make me envy a Manual in those situations, Lol! Moving into my Jeep later this year - a cherokee with a retro-fitted VW poptop. Keep up the Vlogs!
ole matson - Yes, that reverse jump was a first for me. Baja was absolutely beautiful and the people were so friendly and gracious. You definitely need to add this to your bucket list! I was so blessed to have been invited! Thank you!

You two have to come to Santa Maria, California. I have made flour tortillas since I was 9 years old easy to make (I can teach izzy to make tortillas for you) I made them for my Wisconsin Man. He loves my salsa. Blessings to you three.
Awesome video dude! Looks like Jade is going to need a dual battery setup! I wonder if the battery in the trailer is enough to jump Jade if you get into this situation again and you're not with a group? Maybe dual battery in Jade and dual battery in the trailer!! =D
I'll be glad when you make it to Indiana..also glad it's not your next state..we would suffer by comparison...lol. Awesome place..reminds me of living in Panama. Thank you again for all your work. Take care.
Hi y'all! Been curious🤔.. Has Izzy done the iamjake jump from Jade, celebrate Midnight munchies and have banana pancakes yet? Meanwhile loving the journey with all of you! Much love, Terri and Molly p.s. fresh homemade tortillas.. mmmmmm!!!
iamjake thanks for the response, what is a rough estimate of what a trip like this costs? How was the police presence and was there any noticeable crime in the areas you visited?

ole matson - Yes, that reverse jump was a first for me. Baja was absolutely beautiful and the people were so friendly and gracious. You definitely need to add this to your bucket list! I was so blessed to have been invited! Thank you!
iamjake It's on my list for sure! I've spent time in Tecate, Tijuana, and Rosarito.. but nothing further. The people are so great there!
A push/pull start in first or reverse puts a lot of stress on the drivetrain, always best to use second gear.
ole matson - Awesome and yes they are !
We love your videos Jake ! There’s so many copycats out there, but nothing compares to you and your amazing journey!!
Lol Lol - Thank you so much!!
When traveling solo without other vehicles ALWAYS carry a spare starter (and tools). Gr8 vid today!
Love your videos. Wish I could do what your doing. Looks like a great way to live life.

Was there a starter in that black jeep?
another great video jake!
Thank you, Devin!
Now that's why you have a manual transmission plus a manual transmission will stay engaged when it's at extreme angles.
You two have to come to Santa Maria, California. I have made flour tortillas since I was 9 years old easy to make (I can teach izzy to make tortillas for you)
I made them for my Wisconsin Man. He loves my salsa. Blessings to you three.
That's more like it, great video, thanks.
Kim Kiriniki - Thank you!
Awesome video dude! Looks like Jade is going to need a dual battery setup! I wonder if the battery in the trailer is enough to jump Jade if you get into this situation again and you're not with a group? Maybe dual battery in Jade and dual battery in the trailer!! =D
I had a bad starter and I only had. My manual car for a week or so and I stalled and I couldn't start my car so some guy tought me how to pop start it
Love how the Airbnb had a Cj. & Awesome video dude!
Captain Gnarkill - Yes! Thank you!

How many miles have you put on Jade since you started and since you got the rebuilt engine?
looks like its time for a new jeep.
Do the dogs stay with you? That is a fantastic business idea
Great video Jake, one question what did you do with your 1911 before crossing the border?
James Mosley - I did not take it and locked it away at home before heading towards Baja! Thank you!
iamjake thanks for the response, what is a rough estimate of what a trip like this costs? How was the police presence and was there any noticeable crime in the areas you visited?
WHALES! How cool is that? Be safe brother!
Lets RV - Thank you!
are the Land Cruiser's tires the KM3??
