Just wanna say thank you for all the videos you make man. You’re a very humble and helpful person. I’m trying my first Florida trail hike, really my first through hike at all, in 30 days. I was at Bill Jackson’s in St. Petersburg and they actually recommended to watch all of your videos just so you know that :-) of course I already had for a long time. Hi bought a really nice quilt 0° bag, I’m concerned that it’s going to be too hot, meaning the bag will be too warm, but I am not spending another 500 bucks or whatever so we shall see. I know some of this will be learning as we go. Anyway thank you for all of your videos if I survive big cypress, maybe one day we can share a beer together because you really inspired me to do this. Have a great day
The sheer irony of a ratty 1/8" torture pad paired with a pillow. I too prefer a sewn foot box, but I own two quilts with drawstring, zippered ends. I use a pair of thin cheap nylon dress socks in the classic inside-out storage ball to plug the cinch hole and then cinch it up tight, works pretty fair. Looking forward to watching your trail hike with Lotus, that's next up. Always enjoy, and sometimes puzzle over, your take on things ! Your MLD quilt must have bit the dust. Thank god I have two of the soda bottle backpacking bidet attachments at home, the TP hoarders have cleaned everything out, hope it's better in the sunshine state.
I want to see gf pack breakdown! While I know you’re a minimalist which is pretty environmental in itself, and the plastic you use is limited and reused, but I would be interested in a video on ways to cut down on plastic for thru hikers.
Man you’re going soft with all that gear?!? Kidding .... I’m much softer than you are but I always loved your Spartan approach to gear. This is not retirement type gear ... yet!😁
Absolutely love this set up , I currently use the kumo camo 36 , but also interested in your pack . Great videos, I’m Learning great tips from u as always.
Hi. Since you are tired about the frog togg, and already used a 9×5 tarp. did you ever consider try a poncho-tarp? The mld pro-poncho for example is the same size, can be purchased in dcf. Thanks for your videos, always a pleasure. Hoping to go in usa one day to do all those beautiful trails. Joy from france.
I just check again some of you old video, and turns out you are already using it! Would you recommend it as a only rain gear, poncho mode and tarp mode?
Would you still use your FKT quilt for the East Coast? I'm thinking of getting a new quilt to replace a very worn out enlightened equipment 30* quilt that I've had for 8 years. Given that I'm on the wet and humid east coast, I'm attracted to the idea of a synthetic quilt, especially since I'm switching from a tent to a bivy+tarp setup.
I'm hoping to do a section hike of the Florida trail through the panhandle at end of March beginning of april. Digging the videos bro, keep them coming ☺
Very cool video Jupiter, well done. I do have a question for you. How exactly did you use your quilt with your super thin pad? Did you have the pad straps that come with the quilts go underneath you &/or the pad too or just leave them home & not use them? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall you mentioning anything in any of your videos that I've seen so far on how that works best for you. Maybe you could address this in one of your future videos, cause I can't be the only person wondering about this. Thanks & good luck on the trail!
I don't use the straps, and actually cut off the attachments where they would go! I lay my pad down, get on it, and wrap myself in my quilt tucking it under my sides to hold it in place. I do prefer a slightly larger quilt(the size I got) as it gives me more flexibility to move around and all that. Never felt a need for the straps personally
Hey Jupiter, I checked you setup your duplex with trekking poles up side down!? I already had the same idea but get scary to poke a hole in the tent. Any tip from your side to achieve this ?
I like how the ultralight hikers move to backpacks with no hipbelt pockets and then have to hang a fanny pack around their waist to make up for what the pack lacks.
I'm section hiking. Next start is just north of Paisley heading south in about a week. Do you think I'll hit any closures? Are there areas around Orlando that require permits ?
nice gear loadout. Good luck on the trai. I recently came back from Florida... I did make a video at the Jupiter ridge natural area (which you probably know).... ;) nice little place. Take care
There's companies out there that can do these mods ,I'm contacting one to add a Nepolen pocket to my Pel.,97, I can't see spending more money(115.00) on another fleece just for one feature.
The heaviest thing you're carrying is your sense of responsibility to your girlfriend to be a little more comfortable, etc. A wise choice; worth the weight. 👍🏻
Still the New Balance mt10v4, have yet to find a shoe that fits me better! But I'm quickly running out of my supply so I have been asking others when I see a shoe I think I'll like. Probably next years hiking I'll have to dive into something different
I always enjoy your videos. I do have a question for you. Do you think that you will ever start using dyneema stuff sacks instead of plastic bags to cut down on the plastic pollution in our environment?
Would love to see her gear list from a woman’s point of view

I wound up ditching the pillow haha so nothing but the torture pad and torture shoes or food bag pillow
Thumbs up for you, your girlfriend, and the Florida Trail. Here's wishing you a great trip from South Daytona.
Let me know if u need a shower or a ride when you go through bear pond near 46 in sanford to the Boy Scout camp, camp La no che in paisley
Congratulations on your hiking partner. You deserve it

Nice set up!!! We use zpacks too. Best two person tent! Can’t wait to see your gfs gear
Had my first serving of cold soaked beans yesterday. Surprisingly tasty
has anyone found a decent online source for the precooked dehydrated whole beans Jupiter put in the old video?
extremely good filmmaker skills sitting that close to a pond keeping the viewers attention on what may be the first thing falling in there...

Great meeting you on trail. Thank you for the interview
I'd love to see you get her to do a gear list video as well. Looks like you guys are going to have a fun trip together!
Another great ass JupiterHikes video. Never get enough. Hope your hiking partner makes a video also. Always learning .
Nice one buddy hope you and tess are having a good time on trail!
Did you say you don't filter your drinking water? How do you not get sick?

I see that you posted in January. What time of year did you hike the trail?
Would you still use your FKT quilt for the East Coast?

How do you sleep on basically no support for your back!? That’s the biggest drawback to my sleep system because i need the support or I can’t sleep
So do you not use the rain pants with that jacket? Or do you just buy the top part
nice gear loadout. Good luck on the trai. I recently came back from Florida... I did make a video at the Jupiter ridge natural area (which you probably know).... ;) nice little place. Take care
Definitely planning on sewing on a fleece kangaroo pocket on my KUIU, totally agree the need for it. miss ya guys!

Stealth orange my favorite...
Good video.
Isn’t orange stealthy in Florida?😁
@@woodchip2782 maybe in an orange orchard? Lol
At around 6:40 he says it's hunting season and lots of hunters around and doesn't want to be shot.
@@seaotter52 Yeah he also said he liked to be stealthy with the blue... that's why I made the joke.
I don't want to be shot either :-)
Thanks for the vid

is there video explaining the no water filter reason and how?
Great set up for two of you! Are you doing the whole PCT this year or just some sections?
How do you not filter your water
What knifes do you carry
Hello Jupiter. Gave you a channel recognition yesterday on my latest video. Not that you need it, but was mentioning a few Florida backpackers.
Ultralight video quality. =)
A 2 person quilt would save up some good weight I think :)
Yeah! That would be great, looking at the enlightened equipment 'Accomplice' but you know me, I don't buy much until I truly need it
Great video! I live near Dade City and and Green swamp. I’ve been wanting to section hike it
Does this mean you'll be again searching for that illusive perfect fleece ?
Robert Thorn we all know he’s gonna get that pa’lante fleece
@@juliensheets785 OK ,you know what this mean, another gear review!
Must say, your girls hands are surgically steady
Would love a Tess gear video!

What shoes are you wearing these days?
Still the New Balance mt10v4, have yet to find a shoe that fits me better! But I'm quickly running out of my supply so I have been asking others when I see a shoe I think I'll like. Probably next years hiking I'll have to dive into something different

I always enjoy your videos. I do have a question for you. Do you think that you will ever start using dyneema stuff sacks instead of plastic bags to cut down on the plastic pollution in our environment?
Is your girlfriend invisible?
Be honest, did you consider dumping the gf to save the grams? Jk, have fun!
I want the story how you met each other.
the wind pants weight more than an ounce. i´m pretty sure.
1,9 oz
Kurt Cobain used to wear those.
Alright enough internet for today.
I was going to say the same thing.
