That lineup today was awful. Leão is mainly just about speed not much more than that, average at best. Bernardo Silva is a Man City player and should be on the bench for Portugal because he slows down our plays so much and makes a lot of sideways and back passes rather than taking defenders on. If Dalot crosses 10 balls into the box he can count himself lucky if 3 of those crosses are accurate. Bruno needs to play in the #10 position and nowhere else because we lose a lot of his creativity when he plays deeper. Mendes is basically Dalot. I've seen Ronaldo make so many runs today and calling for the ball to be crossed in the box and he constantly gets ignored by his teammates. That starting eleven was unbalanced, the passing was horrible and the attack was way too slow.

Sorry for my English in advance but I don't agree. I think the ideia behind the formation was great. Nuno Mendes as the left center back, had the space to room and sometimes wing back with the back support of Dias and Pepe for cover. Cancelo on the other hand was the freedom to become a rooming player with some runs to support with some verticality, and of course Leão, hugging the line to create one on one's. Maybe dalot for semedo because of the speed, that helps to expose a team that defend the all game. Bruno and Bernardo didn't had the space, and they are not the player to really on take ons or speed to create changes alone. Was hard but this team as limitations and the 3 at the back gives us some space to attack and have some balance.
Leao terrible crosses, Bruno and Bernardo what are they doing? I can count the number of passes they REMOTELY and I mean BARELY gave to CR7. CR7 was not getting the ball enough, dude was ready to score 2 or more goals but these guys were just playing possession and passing so slow. I bet you Turkey would make better passes to CR7 than these overrated Portuguese players. Vitinha did great, he can do better but he did his thing compared to those other bums in the midfield.

Bernardo sadly as good as he is on that right side is worthless he should be a sub for vitinha or bruno later in the game and we should be using Neto/Chico on that right side. Leao should just rev at 100% for half the game and exaust the defence then sub in Jota/Felix to continue the ruthless offense and now they will make more mistakes giving more opportunity to score.

Bernardo Silva ALWAYS underperforms. Cancelo needs to be on the right, Dalot is not good enough. I really liked Neto and hope he gets more minutes. He actually takes people on and can create a final play. I would only play 3 in the back against a tough team like France, if that. Bring in Palhinha, we need an another midfielder and Roberto Martinez needs to realize these things and make quicker subs. Portugal can win it all but need to believe more.

I’m glad everyone is seeing the light with bernardo Silva, to me he is very overrated. Specially on the wing. He creates nothing he cannot make something happen on 1v1 situation and it’s very slow on the ball. The only good thing he does is keep the ball very well at his feet but that’s not good for Portugal play style he should not be starting. Give those explosive young kids a chance to prove themselves and they will have much more success on that right wing.

Não concordo contigo em alguns pontos. Não acho que a falta de presença na área tenha sido pelo Ronaldo baixar entre linhas. Até acho que o Ronaldo com o Roberto Martinez está a jogar muito mais posicional (o que não acontecia com Fernando Santos, que vinha buscar a bola aos centrais por vezes) e ontem fez o bom jogo que fez por causa disso, acho que devíamos ter era alguém mais perto do Cristiano (como entrou o jota e resultou em golo, pena ter sido anulado). Quanto ao Bernardo e Bruno estiveram apagados sim, mas o Bruno penso que esteve mais apagado pois estava a jogar muito recuado e a jogar lá perdemos o Bruno no último terço onde é realmente perigoso. Na minha opinião temos que jogar com o Palinha para libertar o Bruno, o Vitinha é excelente mas muito mais com a bola, por isso acho que Palinha tem que jogar para Vitinha ser um verdadeiro 8 e libertar o Bruno para jogar mais perto do último terço.

Theres just no way you’re going to have your best player, the best finisher, in a DEAD END….what does Portugal and Ronaldo expect to do when Ronaldo, doesn’t get good delivery, is being covered by BOTH CBs and midfield….and can’t get any shots….i hate seeing the role Portugal gives him….he can still run, he can still pass, has great vision and creativity I don’t understand how you can essentially eliminate him from the game……todays Strikers are not the same….the whole game im thinking….you would NEVER see R9, Suarez, Aguero backing up into the CBs….they help create and finish the play not just stand chatting with the center backs all game waiting for a DECENT Cross and then when he gets the cross he’s covered by the cbs and more playersss it makes no sense😭
The problem for Bruno was tactically, the midfileld was overpopulated with our players and that left him little space to get involved high up the pitch. Bernardo on the other hand was quite bad, as a RW that cant take defenders on 1-1, you become very predictable, I would sub him off next game.
