Hey guys this is not a sponsor I just wanted to tell y'all to do research into services that encode or disrupt the art so the ai isn't able to steal it. the only one I can personally recommend is Glaze but there are plenty of other and better services. alright thanks for watching and have a good day.
I have another one “You didn’t use AI as a reference you used it as your own drawing because of HOW INCOMPETENT AND PATHETIC YOU ARE DUE TO YOU NOT EVEN TRYING TO IMPROVE YOUR ARTIST SKILLS BUT INSTEAD USING F*CKING AI AS A SO CALLED REFERENCE.” -a young artist aka me
im glad to be getting opinions from people in the black community cause I was confused as hell when she brought race up and spent like 3 hours looking for anything racist that could have been said but there was nothing so it's good to know I wasn't geeking.
@@DelayDan as a black person not just her using her blackness to shield herself is horrid, but the fact she portrayed another creator as racist because she didn't agree with the thumbnail still makes me seethe in my skin. so many people will hold that against not just her, but other black creators, especially artists. no one has done anything racist to her, she just is using it as a defense/victim card except for when it doesnt apply (i.e when shes doing the harassment, etc)
No it didn't. Stop letting one person in the community affect the reputation of the rest. White people don't do it why should bipoc. We are all individuals, do not feed into discrimination.
nahh, she legit is onboard and said would use it as reference like BROOO, if she wants her art stolen let whatever the rest of the artists including me are happy to NOT have our artwork stolen ;;
She's not in the art business, that's why she's so cavalier about it. It's a problem for her fans, not for her. Wait until AI takes over video content and influencer accounts, then she might feel it
@@mochiboni2560 i can tell what shes saying tbh why are people "afraid" i understand that it steals art but i could careless tbh maybe dont put you're art through ai filters?? :/
On top of it being annoying, that of itself is racist because she believes her opinion is one all black people have in general, therefore assuming all black people think the same.
imo its worse than that because it's the assumption that if you criticize her that you're just a bigot. The ego it takes to throw around that victimized bullshit when it wasn't even relevant is astonishing to me.
Though I don't think Jouusta was being racist by making their video about OwOnekko, It does come off kinda weird that they decided to target one of the few popular colored creators in the art community. If this is how they felt about AI content in general, then why not make a video about the Channels teaching people how to make money off of AI content or maybe targeting mainstream content creators that seem to suffer no backflash for showing their AI contact. It's especially weird when you consider that the only thing that mainstream creators add to their videos are just their reactions, While nekko actually made lyrics for their video and somehow still received harsher criticism than anyone else and complete disregard towards their contribution to the final project. This is all without mentioning the fact that nekko decided to keep the original content creator's identity secret to protect them for harassment and how Jouusta made a point to keep the original creator's Identity secret as well but couldn't be bothered to grant that same protection to nekko as they publicly ridicule them to all their followers and mutuals. The only deterrent to harassing them being, "Don't do that, guys." I don't know, it just comes off as malicious at worst and thoughtless at best.
8:11 - 8:30 Because God forbid someone wants to be able to put food on their table and keep their lights on. I get it. Not everyone can make a living off of commissions. But AI “art” is literally taking that away from the artists that do. As a fellow artist who is also a woman of color, OwONekko’s response is disheartening to say the least.
Yeah I thought about that after posting. So many artist love art but they only really work on the project for a check and there nothing wrong with that. Shes really lucky to get to live off of her art doing what she loves.
"If you're looking for money, art isn't the most efficient way to go about it." She says as her channel makes money off of being an artist. She says as if artists don't deserve to get the pay they deserve both in freelance and in the entertainment industry as it is until they fight for it, and not getting that pay is only ensured by AI bros like her. AI only ensures there's LESS money for us. It's like saying being a cashier isn't the most efficient way to earn money, and then pushing for more self-checkouts for all stores. Which is happening, which lead to people losing their jobs. "You're giving life to this person's vision in a way that only you can do." Until AI is trained off my art. Until people start going to AI instead of me. Until companies want to save money. "You're letting AI punk you out your spot." Again, I go to my cashier/self-checkout argument. They didn't let their jobs get taken, they were shoved out by the big people and their machines. And other stores started following suit when they saw how people flocked to them, putting more people out of jobs.
People pay thousands for someone to come and hand paint at their wedding.. some pay hundreds for someone to rig and model with Vtuber, people are willing to pay a lot of money because they know that person is capable to create what they imagine in their head. AI would not be able to recreate that emotion, that hand crafted, original care for things like this.
@@GenderedMess Exactly. Even if someone made art for just a job, there's still emotion in that. AI has no care, it's a machine doing what it's told to do without thought, same level as a Roomba.
@@doagii2649That reminds of one conservative telling me: Isn't it stifling to pretend to be left-wing all the time. Some people think everyone is like them deep inside while pretending to be different to the outside world.
@@danubeisreallypeculiarrive7944 I mean I would kinda understand if it was edgy jokes or something but for someone to believe everyone deep down agrees with them is insane and just makes me happier to be apolitical.
Nekko practically saying "You can't criticize me, I'm black! You're so racist!!" is actually insane. The part of her video that annoys me the most is when she says artists cant do anything about their art being stolen. Is she trying to say "Oh yeah artists should suck it up and allow these companies to steal and profit off their work" or something?
nah my favorite games have always been stealth but those are slow and have a lot of waiting and I don't want that to be that whole gaming clip lol. honestly I'll play any game at least once so if you have any in mind let me know and I'll see if I can find them.
I agree that people should form their own opinions about topics, I also do think you can learn a lot about the type of creator you are just off of how you receive criticism and information.
@@BabYyouKail i don’t know if that’s exactly “telling people what’s right and wrong” it’s more like “telling people the correct and incorrect information about controversies or events”
@@BabYyouKail if you agree with her on this one, then you fundamentally disagree with her on everything else she's said in this video - including that sentiment. she is literally using her platform to tell people that their fears are irrational (because she's in a far-more secure position than other artists) and they should be feeling "x" about ai. her entire video contradicts that statement; she is using her influence to tell people what's right and wrong - telling people that "i don’t think people should use their influence to tell people what’s right and what’s wrong" is her *using her influence to tell people what she thinks is right or wrong* (her use of subjective words like "think" dont change this, as morality is always going to be subjective). likewise, artists discussing the usage of ai is not comparable to people spreading false SA allegations out of spite. one is a debate over the over-reliance of machines in creative spaces, the other is an accusation being levied against a *person* that touches on legality. her statement has absolutely nothing to do with creators using their platforms to discuss allegations (false or not) - she is referring to creators using their platforms to engage in discourse regarding their own views on morality, and SA accusations aren't only moral topics (primarily, theyre legal ones)
I get why people think this, 'I was just having fun, it wasn't hurting anyone' if similar to arguments about the environment or covid. 'I'm just buying beef from a grocery store, it's not hurting anyone' or 'I just want to go to Starbucks without a mask, nobody is getting hurt.' And while these two things are very different in severity, it's consistent that from that person's viewpoint, it is just a small action with no true consequences. Everybody does it and I'm not saying it's not bad to act without constantly weighing the ethics of your decisions though, that would be miserable. The issue is that she didn't listen to people trying to inform her about the situation and ended up promoting a tool that is (objectively IMO) unethical. I don't think anybody would be mad if she uploaded it, received the comments with a simple 'thanks for letting me know' and took down the video. It would be that simple, but unfortunately, it's really hard to admit fault. A lot of people fall into the trap of just validating themselves endlessly without any introspection because it feels better.
I agree, it's easy to think something is okay if you don't have to look at the person effected. and yeah if she would have simply said "I understand the view about ai, but I don't personally agree" this could have all been avoided. hopefully she reflects and tries to make amends with her community.
She speaks from such a hobby artist/established artist perspective: "Well a machine shouldn't stop you from creating" GIRL BE FR! Companies are already overloading artists like f, our job-pool is already the size of a puddle. AI will, at best, be held over artist's head by companies to threaten their employment or, at worst, they will simply replace their entire departments with AI
exactly, were already dealing with strikes to combat ai and the inadequacies in the animation field and to see a accomplish creator saying that ai can't take real peoples spots was insane to me
Right, and her argument doesn't even make sense, because if people are questioning the ethics of using ai, the 'its fun' part doesn't even matter, because it doesn't answer whether or not it's ethical to use ai (and monetize the use of it, cause her use of it wasnt 'just for fun', she chose to post it and also monetize the video)
I think certain people equate denouncing something as being afraid of it. And the way they view people being "afraid" is being weak and ignorant, so they situate themselves as "the only one" whos "tough" and "smart" to stand out.
Thank you for your comment and putting it into words. I felt like something was off with her "afraid" bit. Plus I knew a prick with a similar mindset on the "afraid" bit so it just confirms that other bozo is pretentious and knows nothing.
I just don’t get her point saying “you shouldn’t do art for money” or “its just fun” when it DOES actively affect artists. Animators, Illustrators, and etc do art not only as a passion, but also a job. They NEED money?? especially in this economy 💀Thats why AI generated art is so frowned upon in the community
I think the artists fearing ai art are more afraid of their art being stolen by these big ass companies who can’t protect their art from being stolen unless they know how to scramble the code of their image to ruin the chances of it being taken from them. They also might be afraid of not being able to get jobs if companies and even people who pay for commissions use ai art instead of paying actual employees. She basically just declared war against the entire community saying she uses ai art and actually wants it to prosper 😭
9:20 “Being morally correct makes people stiff and lifeless”? That sounds like they’re confusing the idea of learning from mistakes with justifying unethical behavior. Yes, mistakes help us grow, but that doesn’t mean we need to commit crimes or hurt others to be “human.” And about that “seeing fear as an opportunity,” if they are saying they take advantage of others’ fear, especially in unethical ways like stealing art, that’s not bold nor brave. That’s just opportunistic and harmful.
I'm sure you're not trash at art, and if I had to recommend a channel for a growing artist to look up it would be proko, that channel seriously helped me when I was younger and didn't have any of the knowledge I do now.
Ok, she states that she hates when other RUclipsrs/Influencers tell people what to think and yet she does the exact same thing but just with a different opinion.
Because of Ai art, its made me feel more worthless as an artist. Like I now feel like I can't amount to the souless quality that people prefer in certain spaces, its left me with constant artblocks because of it
I know that is a very real issue facing a lot of people but the best advice I know to give is to just force yourself to draw for like 30 minutes to a hour once or twice a week. as a person who has went on and off with art for years I would hate to unlearn all the tricks and tips I've acquired and ik that it can take a long time to naturally want to pick it back up again.
girl is talking like a cartoon villian. that so sad she was such a huge inspiration, I don't want her to be cancelled I want her to become better because she is better
I was having a disagreement with somebody on this. They were like "oh styles and stuff can't be stolen" when I said AI was stealing art. Of course I clarified to the bare bones of it that the humans training the AI are the ones stealing, not tha AI itself. And it's not about stealing style, it's about stealing a direct copy. Are all artists going to have to copyright every single one of our works just so we can sue people like this? Already our works should be protected, but to actively sue it's best to have proof of copyright. And not everyone can even sue. I'm glad that this AI music software is getting sued. I just wish the animation companies would get on board because their higher up jobs are being threatened too. If all movies become AI, then they really have no place directing and sponsoring movies since anyone could make a movie at that point. That's why the record companies are suing. They recognize their high position is threatened by availability. They want that monopoly on music. And tbh it's kind of a good thing as much as the music industry does suck.
Yeah as exploitative as labels and studios can be they do a lot that normal people couldn't to protect their artist (earnings). but yeah we need laws that protect the average person from art and media theft.
@@DelayDan There are! As far as I can tell the US has laws for copyright pretty much as soon as you create something, though the easiest way to sue (if you can afford to) is to file for copyright, which filing for copyright in itself can be tedious and money based. TBH I think we just need AI specific laws that forbid it from taking without consent. I don't think posting it publicly is consent (as seen in the case between the music records and the AI company if the music records win) Hopefully the music records do win because that will be the start of true change I believe.
For anyone wondering the live stream and tweets were happening while recording so their in the second video about her. while I feel like I was a little harsh it's still a good video. Just remember that I was coming at the situation as a annoyed fan and not just a hater.
I don't think you've been harsh, your video was really straight to the point, especially with how you pull info that people are quite literally getting their works getting fed into a machine and losing their jobs, like as an artist I'm happy that you are talking about this I'd say who would be more harsh is OwONekko with how immature they're acting by drawing commentors into something weird... like.. and esp with how there was a thumbnail of her accusing a smaller creator of being a "racist" and I honestly felt second-hand embarrassment from how she's "so mature" more like being a kid, even kids act better than this lol...
I only use ai images JUST for outfit design references or character accessory design references while still using my own art , can we normalize that instead of just using ai and calling it “our own”? 😭
I like the way you put that, and I wasn't clear about the fact that I see that as perfectly fine as long as it has to pass through the artist in the end and like I said it's not being used as a finish line.
@@DelayDan exactly!! I think that ai art is still bad but the designs, (if you can make something up for the jumbled and nonsensical designs) are really pretty to use for ocs that you draw yourselves, i have bad memory so thinking about character designs sucks, why not steal from ai since it steals from us? Lmao ^^
OwONekko's Response and General attitude has just been terrible. Her twitter is worse btw with her chastising fans that question her and even goes as far as to disown them. Jouusta was Insanely Respectful and Kind towards OwONekko. She even complimented and praised OwONekko's Art. Then OwONekko goes down this path and attempts to Portray Jouusta as Racist. Even though this has absolutely nothing to do with Race, and was moreso about OwONekko's Transphobia and General Attitude about Generative A.I I also heard that OwONekko is in her 30s. Which makes this even worse as Jouusta is only 19. OwONekko is also a hypocrite in several regards. She in her stream started saying about how She was being Mature about the whole situation, which is just delusional. Being Mature isn't depicting someone who was polite to you as Racist because they didn't agree with your Opinion on A.I. She says she doesn't like it when big content creators bully smaller ones, and then proceeds to essentially Antagonise and Portray Jouusta as a Racist to her fans. This whole situation feels dumb, and the worse part is. If OwONekko was actually Mature and Took the Criticism without escalating it, Everything would've been fine. If she didn't respond to Jouusta, if she didn't turn on her own fans who felt hurt about her decisions, She wouldn't have lost as many subscribers as she did.
Hi I was on all the lives that 0w0nekkos had made. If you don’t know I was defending her I realize as a artist now that it is pretty harmful I go to gate/ gifted and talented education where we talked abt ai and how it’s becoming harmful. Showing how I was rlly in the wrong. And one point I used was “ITS HER OPINION WHY R YALL MAD😭” and “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” etc and now I realize that my words backfired bc yh it was her opinion and so was y’all’s opinion on ai. So sorry tbh all the things I said was js to defend her bc I dint want to see another one of my fav artists get cancelled I hope yall can understand my thinking during that time idk bye.
No sweat, its a good thing that you wanted to defend someone you believe in and its also a good thing to expand your view on situations. I am glad in the end you understood my reasoning for even making the video.
Ever since I started drawing, I knew that when I got to college my dream would be perusing an art degree. I am in college and my goal was an art degree, but the fact that ai art exists forced me to change my path. Who needs to pay a human to draw something an ai can do better for free? That creativity in me wanted one thing but logically I knew my chances as an artist would get me no where in life. Ai is NOT our friend. Although it can have its uses, it is damaging to certain groups of people. And it ruined my dream/ goals. And it won’t stop with me.
the best part about being a artist is not needing a degree in it to become successful just work on random projects and practice new ideas and you can still get there
It's honestly disgusting, my mother is getting a digital marketing degree, they make her whole classes about the use of AI, there's barely any artistry anymore, all the beautiful intricate technicalities of art and graphic design are just replaced by what's faster, cheaper and looks good at first glance.
I really enjoyed her content, she took this way too personally when really the AI shit couldve geniunely be passed off as an agree to disagree statement :( . Ong js fumbled her channel, its sad.
I personally hope she didn't just fumble the whole channel because she is really talented and she could've avoided the entire situation just by saying "I understand how y'all see ai but I don't personally agree". anyways thank you for watching
I think it's finished up now, hopefully when she's back from the hiatus she on she'll just ignores the people making jokes and goes back to business as usual.
@@DelayDan Yeah... so I just try to get a somewhat same thing, but want a guy who is able to do taxes, carry me, and maybe a dad bod (like how this started from me and you talking about AI at first, now I'm talking about what type of guy I want. sorry about that 😅)
I mean I don't care, as long as it doesn't become inappropriate describe the man you want as much as you want and yeah Arnie had the most confusing dad bod to me, it was a barrel of muscle instead of a 6 pack or pot belly lol.
while that's hilarious to imagine I wouldn't want her having too many references. I'm kidding i honestly have been a fan of her for a while before this and just want to see her learn and move on. thank you for watching the video
she's acting like an immature child it's so crazy to me. If she would have kept her playlist for herself instead of monetizing it, nothing would have happened. And if she simply removed the video and apoligised instead of throwing a temper tantrum, no one would have critisize her further
When she said shit like “would you work for people who use AI art” it gives the impression that as an Artist you can just pick and choose wherever you wanna work like that. Which is not the case whatsoever, getting a good paying job in that industry is just insanely hard. And a lot of times, we don’t really have a lot of options to just pick and choose wherever we want to work, sometimes you gotta take what is available or who even wants to hire you. Why do you think so many people work freelance? It’s clearn she doesn’t work in the industry if she thinks we have the privilege to be picky like that Edit: your fear is what’s always gonna hold you back. Aight bet. Guess imma just go stealing from others. Fear ain’t gonna hold me back no more.
I liked her cuz she was funny and she’s a fellow black artist. You don’t see that many of us here. So it’s sad that she’s a bad person. Her using her blackness as a shield in this situation is disgraceful. The way she’s responded to this situation in general has been terrible.
She was one of those few people tweakin this year that I knew but never had a good feeling about. Idk she just seemed really critical to me and gave off those high horse vibes to me 😗
I found it weird that she touts she disabled comments so you wouldn't be influenced by others' opinions and "make up your own mind", but that only leaves her opinion to push without an opposing argument. The video is heavily opinionated already, the whole explanation is null and void from the get-go.
I think anyone messing with ai without bringing it to the internet is FINE as long as they don't monetize it and don't profit off of it. But of course, i am probably wrong. Someone please correct me if this isn't good either.
if you're not profiting its less harmful at least, but in my mind the only ethical way for an artist to use ai is as a tool and as long as the finished product is coming from the eye of the artist and not the code of a machine. References would have been fine or if she used ai software to single out a sample for a song I would have no beef because those are things that can assist in an artist method but when the machine is spitting out a final product, I won't support it. Of course that is just my opinion and there are plenty of more educated people on the topic.
Man, there's no ethical use of AI, that sht uses SO MUCH ENERGY! I don't think we'll get to the point where AI takes all of our jobs, cause it would have already stripped the planet out of our resources. Such advanced systems are extremely heavy, the "AI artists" that actually try to be professional with it have massive powerful computers to run their softwares.
Personally, I think that a lot of people that use AI to steal art are hypocrites. Because if they say that “‘erm, AI art is *REAL* art” then why don’t they just put an AI generated label on their post? Anyways that’s my opinion (*Fortnite dances away*)
Its the repeated doubling down on the transphobia for me. Sure she blocked the name on the original comment but if youre referring to someone in general you dont gender them, they/them are great for that. And when people in her comments and live chat pointed out that actually it was pretty obvious who left the comment and they use he/they pronouns exclusively she ignored that and continued to use she/her only. I dont remember the exact wording but basically she said if she doesnt like you she doesnt have to respect your pronouns. All the ai nonsense aside, that I cannot ignore.
why is every single big artist being problematic like brotha i try to talk abt artists i like and they are ALL problematic (at this point i just say my moots are my favorite artists because atleast they arent problematic,,, well most of them)
Hey I didn't realize it was you, I loved your coverage and art in the video, also ik you generally like covering ai so you should look into a video some ordinary gamer made about a new ai product meant to simulate game play. I think it is evil and I hope whoever made it gets sued into oblivion for that stupid crap. I was planning to talk about it but I figured id mention it since ik you covered the ai artist LoL controversy you would also probably want to talk about it.
"I encourage you to form your own opinion! ...just not the one that you did! That's wrong! Form MY opinion!" Lol. I believe in the future it could be a tool. Someone will figure out an ethical way to source data and reduce environmental costs. Pandora's box has been opened, and to an extent, we do need to adapt. However, in its current state, the flagrant use of generative ai is inexcusable. You should never cross the picket line, and she did. In essence, she spat on the protesters she walked by and tried ripping down their signs because she thinks anyone who disagreed with her is stupid. Very few people are currently using genai as a tool. I still don't think you should use it in its current state, but it's not as bad as churning out the finished product and proclaiming to be a creative genius. I'm so tired of having this conversation.
I just don't think she as informed about ai as she's wants to let on, and im not gonna pretend to be the most informed either but I don't tell people to form their own opinions and delete and shame them if their view doesn't fit mine. That shit annoys the hell out of me because no progress is going to be made in these hot button issues if everyone is screaming and deleting each other the second they disagree.
i love how you're going in the opposite direction that OwONekko went in and encouraging discussion in the comments. also agree with most if not all of your points ❤
Damn, that sucks. I was just becoming a genuine fan of her and her art. I didn't watch a lot of her content in general but still- I really shouldn't be surprised tho. This always happens at some point🙄
She definitely needs her art style to be stolen from AI, I know it might be seen as rude but she’s the type of person to not care or actually find it bad unless it happens to her. Someone needs to make a twitter account that’s just her art style but AI, she’ll probably throw a tantrum and act like she didn’t say the exact thing that happened to her was ok. I know people might thing this is a bad idea but she won’t listen until she gets what other people got.
while i think it would prove the point I would rather her have shit takes and potentially learn from it later than trying to push my views onto her. if she learns her audience will probably return but if not it's her loss.
@@DelayDan ok. Thanks for giving me your opinion! It’s nice hearing someone talk about something else while still wanting to get the same point across/srs
thanks, I'm just glad that as I build an audience I'll be able to get differing prospectives on situations from people. even if we don't agree passive discourse is always beneficial.
8:15 Translation of her rant: "You should be ok with working for hours just for eXpOsUrE!!! Be a real starving artist! Designing, animation, character conceptualizing, ect arn't ReAl JoBs!
I feel like if this artist and some did use there art for ai, you better know they will be piss, they saying it now it's ok to steal their art to use in ai learing but you would know they would sue the hell out of them, but I think thoses people be OK if they used her quote against her
exactly it's such a bogus claim to say artist shouldn't care if their art is stolen even know credit is how they are able to get jobs and excel in the industry.
I enjoy owonekkos content from time to time but jouusta has always seemed like one of the more stable creators with good opinions in the art community so im glad she spoke up about it. also yeah she hella based
and the fact that most people that work at animation studios do it not because they like the studio but because they just want to make money doing what they love.
I feel like Owoneko will end up having the taste of her medicine at some point, when an ai will imitate the art she makes, and the ai imitating her voice too. (It also isn’t helping that most for-profit companies are sucking up to AI, by making useless ai assistants as well and etc, but I’m thinking about tech companies.) I’m thinking of setting up mu online store to sell shirts/etc and add designs on them, and I’m still working on making finished designs for the store.
I get what you're saying, but I hope she can realize she was being dumb and clearly misinformed before it ever comes to that cause I've seen like 5 of those comments and if those are on other creators' channels too, I would hate for someone to think the right thing to do is also be a hypocrite. That sounds like a great plan hmu when you're done and (if you're 18) I'll be opening a discord soon so people can share art and chat about topics and recommend things I could talk about. I also want to have a "sub-server" dedicated to just finding software that protects artist in the community.
Art has always been a violated job from the second it was tainted by consumism. Capitalism killed art one too many times, ai is doing it again. However art will still live. Ai, just like with capitalism, has to become a challenge artists has to overcome. Ai is shit, the less we use it, the better, of course, but one thing I've learnt is that until capitalism exists, we cannot stop the development of ai but we can find a way to control it safely with laws for it. I really do think that the future we're heading to is a world were humanity actually doesn't have to do anythings by himself for something to gain if not its own satisfaction: cook if you like to cook, make an industry if it's your vocation, if not, something else will do it for you instead. Ai is the development of a system that has already began way before us, millenias ago. Work was slavery once, billionairs think humans are not meant to have that burden and they're taking it off of our shoulders. No, I'm not saying it is right, the way things are going will cause global poverty until the economy will finally collapse into an utopia of freebies. And if ai was concerning, get ready for when androids will come to the design.
I understand the point she was trying to make about reassuring artist’s fears about ai, but to say it in the most aggravating way possible and making it seem like you don’t care about the artists who had their art used without their knowledge and then going onto say that they should just accept it because it’s the future is literally so insensitive to said ppl and it discourages ppl from trying to post/make their art on apps & art software like Instagram or adobe (to my knowledge adobe added the opt out option) for example because these companies will use your art for machine learning, but don’t just give you the option to opt out on using your intellectual property to make a new art piece that you now have to compete with and I say this as an artist myself and even though I fortunately didn’t get my art stolen let me just clarify *not yet* we need to stop acting like this isn’t an issue that doesn’t affect artists because it 100% does and always will when ai actually gets too advanced and not being able to tell what art was produced by hand or what art was just generated for clicks.
I mentioned it to someone else but you should look into a software called glaze that distorts what the ai sees, there are other software and probably better ones out there but that's the only one I tried personally.
I remember using a cool photo of a man lying midst a field of flowers off of Pinterest as a reference for my sketch but struggled with figuring out how the perspective worked and I asked for a bunch of fellow artists whether they could help me with figuring out this perspective based off of the photo they went “girl this is an AI photo no wonder you couldn’t understand the perspective😂😂😂”. Please don’t use AI generated photos/art as references for your art and waste your precious time (from a fellow broke drawer who struggles with anatomy)
Just gonna drop this here, I'm not a regular when it comes to watching her videos, but owonekko is pushing into her 30s ( as I have heard, pls correct me if I'm wrong ) and she still can't take genuine criticism. Her AI generated music is bad enough since her argument is that she's monetizing it for the entertainment aspect ?? Then we went from that to her latest live and it's really just embarrassing from the few minutes I've watched 😭 I don't remember the context but she was drawing someone and taking about their teeth ?? Sorry I really can't remember but its something like that, just weird stuff that doesn't involve the situation rather to just throw jabs at them while ruining what little credibility she has left I hope she does end up taking a break, getting herself back together and analyze the situation properly before returning. A simple apology is best to start with Edit: please correct me if anything I've said might be untrue !
I make beats and I don't have any problems with ai, I find ai quite funny tbh.. But I hate this stupid creator saying "ohhh its okay to use ai for music because its funny" and ngl I agree, but monitizing it? hell no. I garuntee you this woman aint know the first thing about music, so she should NOT be talking about if ai music is harmful or not😭🙏 (even if it is related to visual art)
My mom has this werid, crazy intuition to finding bad people. Byt it only works parasocially. Like, when we first discovered Melanie Martinez like, years ago, she said, wow, shes weird, and wouldnt elaborate on why she thought she was weird, because she always suppoted my other weird interests. Only for Melanie to be outed as a potential SA abuser and for her to constantly be in the Crybaby persona most of her career and for her weird music to almost be fetishismof the serious tipics she presents that she has no experience in, prompting people to excessively defend her to the point where after her last boyfriend and her broke up, she didnt do anything and let people spread rumors that Oliver Tree was abusive to her She doesnt like Owonekko's voice, despite her having the same inflections as her childhood friend she still talks to, and now ON is doing this?? I dont get it
I knew about the sa with Melanie but I didn't know about the stuff with Oliver Tree, honestly that's pretty interesting I might make a video on her, also mother have some crazy intuition sometimes so im honestly not even surprised lol.
@DelayDan okay so I looked at it again and yeah, her fans were saying it still way beyond the break up, but Melanie did actually come out and say that the rumors were false, but she was ignored for a while, it looks like

As a black artist myself, her using her blackness to shield herself from criticism just sent all of us back a hundred steps, smdh 🗿
im glad to be getting opinions from people in the black community cause I was confused as hell when she brought race up and spent like 3 hours looking for anything racist that could have been said but there was nothing so it's good to know I wasn't geeking.

I cant believe she pulled the race card when jouusta made a video on her. I hate people who cry "racist!! ohhh youre racist!" when they get called out
yeah I'm making a follow up on some of that crash out stream.
The only deterrent to harassing them being, "Don't do that, guys." I don't know, it just comes off as malicious at worst and thoughtless at best.
glad to have a differing opinions on the situation. helps gain perspective.
I couldnt have said it better myself
People pay thousands for someone to come and hand paint at their wedding.. some pay hundreds for someone to rig and model with Vtuber, people are willing to pay a lot of money because they know that person is capable to create what they imagine in their head. AI would not be able to recreate that emotion, that hand crafted, original care for things like this.
@@GenderedMess Exactly. Even if someone made art for just a job, there's still emotion in that. AI has no care, it's a machine doing what it's told to do without thought, same level as a Roomba.

Nekko practically saying "You can't criticize me, I'm black! You're so racist!!" is actually insane. Is she trying to say "Oh yeah artists should suck it up and allow these companies to steal and profit off their work" or something?
I don't think she was trying to but when she says something like that she needs to be aware of the implications that come with it.
I’m glad to see you directly responding to what she said in the video bc she’s been going hard on the “putting words in my mouth” narrative

“I don’t think people should use their influence to tell people what’s right and what’s wrong”
Excuse me… WHAT!?
while she is telling her audience that they can leave if they don't agree. the irony
I agree tbh, Remember the dream scandal yeah gum all influence people with out context.😭😭 So I agree with her on this one.
“Large artists shouldn’t be telling you how to feel” *proceeds to tell us how to feel* girl 🤦🏾♀️
Ikr, it’s so sad to know that a creative and fun hobby is just being destroyed and used
One artist was fired by their employer and replaced with an ai trained off of their own work. So the at worst part is already happening sadly
yeah, I saw an article about that after I posted the video and I was kicking myself for not finding it sooner.
I think certain people equate denouncing something as being afraid of it. And the way they view people being "afraid" is being weak and ignorant, so they situate themselves as "the only one" whos "tough" and "smart" to stand out.
This is what her argument sounds like.
Perfectly said
Thank you for your comment and putting it into words.
Well said
I think the artists fearing ai art are more afraid of their art being stolen by these big ass companies who can’t protect their art from being stolen unless they know how to scramble the code of their image to ruin the chances of it being taken from them. They also might be afraid of not being able to get jobs if companies and even people who pay for commissions use ai art instead of paying actual employees. She basically just declared war against the entire community saying she uses ai art and actually wants it to prosper 😭
that's a lot of valid points
Black artist here. Unfollowed as soon as her opinion dropped. The thumbnail was too much, the argument was weak.
Yeah a lot of bad takes form her.

“Being morally correct makes people stiff and lifeless”? That sounds like they’re confusing the idea of learning from mistakes with justifying unethical behavior. Yes, mistakes help us grow, but that doesn’t mean we need to commit crimes or hurt others to be “human.”
And about that “seeing fear as an opportunity,” if they are saying they take advantage of others’ fear, especially in unethical ways like stealing art, that’s not bold nor brave. That’s just opportunistic and harmful.
I couldn't have said it better
I may be trash at art, but I ain’t going to use something that steals art.
I'm sure you're not trash at art, and if I had to recommend a channel for a growing artist to look up it would be proko, that channel seriously helped me when I was younger and didn't have any of the knowledge I do now.

I'm so tired of these out of touch big artists shilling AI
me too man, thankfully I hadn't heard of one for a while until this situation
I don't think posting it publicly is consent (as seen in the case between the music records and the AI company if the music records win) Hopefully the music records do win because that will be the start of true change I believe.
definitely at the very least that would help deter all these massive corporations from robbing artist
For anyone wondering the live stream and tweets were happening while recording so their in the second video about her. while I feel like I was a little harsh it's still a good video. Just remember that I was coming at the situation as a annoyed fan and not just a hater.
I don't think you've been harsh, your video was really straight to the point, especially with how you pull info that people are quite literally getting their works getting fed into a machine and losing their jobs, like as an artist I'm happy that you are talking about this
I'd say who would be more harsh is OwONekko with how immature they're acting by drawing commentors into something weird... like.. and esp with how there was a thumbnail of her accusing a smaller creator of being a "racist" and I honestly felt second-hand embarrassment from how she's "so mature" more like being a kid, even kids act better than this lol...

Even though this has absolutely nothing to do with Race, and was moreso about OwONekko's Transphobia and General Attitude about Generative A.I
I also heard that OwONekko is in her 30s.

@@DelayDan the sad thing is her art style is neat, yet I couldn’t quite figure out why I had this urge to avoid her videos
I found it weird that she touts she disabled comments so you wouldn't be influenced by others' opinions and "make up your own mind", but that only leaves her opinion to push without an opposing argument. The video is heavily opinionated already, the whole explanation is null and void from the get-go.
yeah its absurd she couldn't see the hypocrisy
@@DelayDan i understand that.
W take thanks for watching (*falls over*)
Its the repeated doubling down on the transphobia for me. All the ai nonsense aside, that I cannot ignore.
why is every single big artist being problematic
like
brotha i try to talk abt artists i like and they are ALL problematic (at this point i just say my moots are my favorite artists because atleast they arent problematic,,, well most of them)
Fair enough at least you know them lol
ai should fear us 😈
when I saw her video, I thought you could use it as a reference. Tested a popular ai generator
yk how quick I changed my mind
thats some funny shit, which one you use?
@@DelayDan I use nightcafe. Sure, some ppl can say it's pretty good but I'm very nitpicky and notice a lot of small things
good to know, I doubt I'll ever touch it but if I was to make a video talking about the generators themselves I'll keep that in mind.
i won't be tired hearing about her drama lol
Hey I didn't realize it was you, I loved your coverage and art in the video, also ik you generally like covering ai so you should look into a video some ordinary gamer made about a new ai product meant to simulate game play. I think it is evil and I hope whoever made it gets sued into oblivion for that stupid crap. I was planning to talk about it but I figured id mention it since ik you covered the ai artist LoL controversy you would also probably want to talk about it.

@@friendlyneighborhoodartist Makes sense, well ill be looking forward to the next video. thank you for checking put my channel.
@@DelayDan
BURNOUT MENTION🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah any other ps2 games or games in general you might wanna see
@@DelayDan crazy taxi
check the new vid brother someone already recommended
i love how you're going in the opposite direction that OwONekko went in and encouraging discussion in the comments. also agree with most if not all of your points ❤
thank you, and if there is anything you disagreed with or a game you might wanna see played I'd love to hear
Damn, that sucks. I was just becoming a genuine fan of her and her art. I didn't watch a lot of her content in general but still-
I really shouldn't be surprised tho. This always happens at some point🙄
Yeah she is super talented, so this was a real let down
The art community is always pissed off lol
None of this would have happened if she just used Miku or other vocaloid banks + musical instruments/digital instrument like everyone else....
exactly I made another comment explaining that if she used a ai sampling software I wouldn't have care.
Im subbing jusy because you are playing Burn Out. Love it.
Hell yeah, any other PS2 games you might wanna see?
She definitely needs her art style to be stolen from AI, I know it might be seen as rude but she’s the type of person to not care or actually find it bad unless it happens to her. Someone needs to make a twitter account that’s just her art style but AI, she’ll probably throw a tantrum and act like she didn’t say the exact thing that happened to her was ok. I know people might thing this is a bad idea but she won’t listen until she gets what other people got.
Yeah that probably true
while i think it would prove the point I would rather her have shit takes and potentially learn from it later than trying to push my views onto her. if she learns her audience will probably return but if not it's her loss.
@@DelayDan ok. Thanks for giving me your opinion! It’s nice hearing someone talk about something else while still wanting to get the same point across/srs
thanks, I'm just glad that as I build an audience I'll be able to get differing prospectives on situations from people. even if we don't agree passive discourse is always beneficial.
unsubbet her after she posted those vids... im so dissapointed :(

Translation of her rant: "You should be ok with working for hours just for eXpOsUrE!!! Be a real starving artist! Designing, animation, character conceptualizing, ect arn't ReAl JoBs!
I feel like if this artist and some did use there art for ai, you better know they will be piss, they saying it now it's ok to steal their art to use in ai learing but you would know they would sue the hell out of them, but I think thoses people be OK if they used her quote against her
exactly it's such a bogus claim to say artist shouldn't care if their art is stolen even know credit is how they are able to get jobs and excel in the industry.
absolutely eviscerated
What's with every youtuber becoming problematic or getting cancelled one by one this year??
Don't ask me man, I'm just glad I haven't had to talk about any of the freaks in the art community

@@seyspectra oh I must have misread it, thanks for informing me.
This is so sad. I really like her art and thought she was funny
Well hopefully she will try to mend the gap between her and her audience.
This whole situation is just wild.
I know right lol
I USED TO WATCH HER WHEN I WAS AN INNOCENT WEE LAD-
WHY IS EVERY ARTIST GOING DOWNHILL NOWADAYS :(
"You shouldn't do art for money" Even though.. she's an artist?.. Even though... That can be someone dreams?
and the fact that most people that work at animation studios do it not because they like the studio but because they just want to make money doing what they love.
I feel like Owoneko will end up having the taste of her medicine at some point, when an ai will imitate the art she makes, and the ai imitating her voice too.
(It also isn’t helping that most for-profit companies are sucking up to AI, by making useless ai assistants as well and etc, but I’m thinking about tech companies.)
I’m thinking of setting up mu online store to sell shirts/etc and add designs on them, and I’m still working on making finished designs for the store.
@@DelayDan I'm over 18 already, but I might join your server, since I already joined a bunch of discord servers already tbhf.
alright in the next week or 2 I'll have it up. thank you for watching
@@DelayDan No problem
And if ai was concerning, get ready for when androids will come to the design.
while I definitely don't agree with you on everything that was very well put, and I can see where you're coming from.
@@DelayDan that's totally fine, we don't really have to collectively agree on everything.
bro how did i just find ur channel, man im subin.
thanks man
bro i loved her content it's sad honestly of this happening
me too maybe she can just grow from this
I understand the point she was trying to make about reassuring artist’s fears about ai, but to say it in the most aggravating way possible and making it seem like you don’t care about the artists who had their art used without their knowledge and then going onto say that they should just accept it because it’s the future is literally so insensitive to said ppl and it discourages ppl from trying to post/make their art on apps & art software like Instagram or adobe (to my knowledge adobe added the opt out option) for example because these companies will use your art for machine learning, but don’t just give you the option to opt out on using your intellectual property to make a new art piece that you now have to compete with and I say this as an artist myself and even though I fortunately didn’t get my art stolen let me just clarify *not yet* we need to stop acting like this isn’t an issue that doesn’t affect artists because it 100% does and always will when ai actually gets too advanced and not being able to tell what art was produced by hand or what art was just generated for clicks.
I could definitely see that being a recurring problem.
NOOOO NOT OwONekko😭
9:18 SHE LITERALLY SAID "having morals makes you so boring 🙄"
Just gonna drop this here, I'm not a regular when it comes to watching her videos, but owonekko is pushing into her 30s ( as I have heard, pls correct me if I'm wrong ) and she still can't take genuine criticism. Her AI generated music is bad enough since her argument is that she's monetizing it for the entertainment aspect ??
Then we went from that to her latest live and it's really just embarrassing from the few minutes I've watched 😭 I don't remember the context but she was drawing someone and taking about their teeth ?? Sorry I really can't remember but its something like that, just weird stuff that doesn't involve the situation rather to just throw jabs at them while ruining what little credibility she has left
I hope she does end up taking a break, getting herself back together and analyze the situation properly before returning. A simple apology is best to start with
Edit: please correct me if anything I've said might be untrue !
to my knowledge you got everything right and I agree with you
I make beats and I don't have any problems with ai, I find ai quite funny tbh..

Only for Melanie to be outed as a potential SA abuser and for her to constantly be in the Crybaby persona most of her career and for her weird music to almost be fetishismof the serious tipics she presents that she has no experience in, prompting people to excessively defend her to the point where after her last boyfriend and her broke up, she didnt do anything and let people spread rumors that Oliver Tree was abusive to her
She doesnt like Owonekko's voice, despite her having the same inflections as her childhood friend she still talks to, and now ON is doing this?? I dont get it
I knew about the sa with Melanie but I didn't know about the stuff with Oliver Tree, honestly that's pretty interesting I might make a video on her, also mother have some crazy intuition sometimes so im honestly not even surprised lol.
@DelayDan okay so I looked at it again and yeah, her fans were saying it still way beyond the break up, but Melanie did actually come out and say that the rumors were false, but she was ignored for a while, it looks like
thank you for informing me, I couldn't find a lot of information on the topic so it was definitely helpful

*She should have done a more thorough and openminded approach to this*
*It appears she is rather opinionated here, there is too much feeling and subliminal meaning to her points, defeating the purpose of actually having one; it just feels like she didn't put much thought into this.*
*Your video here has a lot of good points, its appreciated that you take a straight forward approach to this.*
