it's such a shame ssd pricing at apple are 12 times higher (per GB) than an ssd for desktop pc on amazon and people use an sd card because they can't afford the super expensive option when you buy the macbook
storage doesn't need to be so close to the cpu, so you can make it user replaceable. there a benefit in having soldered DDR5 7000mhz+ RAM but no benefit to soldered storage apart from saving space maybe. macos use this storage as storage, I haven't got the IT degree at walmart. apple separated the memory controller from the rest of the NAND, so the "SSD" chips you see are just storage and the information about the data location are elsewhere in the CPU package. this is an intentional apple decision to make things worse for the user alongside soldering storage in the first place.@AlphaF28
@AlphaF28 yeh I agree completely with this. I think this thing is a gimmick and obviously overpriced for what it is. It just happens to have become known for 'being sleek', for people who are OCD about that stuff or couldn't think of their own way to make the SD card feel nicer
I'm sure that SD Card won't last longer, because the manufacturer typically don't show the how much the TBW (TeraBytes Written), and it's because they knew that SD Card has low TBW that they ashamed to put on their website or datasheet.
That depends on controller quality, and how many random I/O you do. (I would use Samsung or Sandisk variant of that if it is available, since their controllers are most likely to last longer. e.g. "High-endurance" SD cards or SD cards for "Dashcams") If you are just copying photos/videos time to time, (i.e. storage used rarely) this might be ok.
I purchased this Transcend JetDrive 330 1TB. It works fine. But, I need to remount the drive by taking out the card and plug it in again to mount it. Is there anyway that it will automatic remount, like after computer reboot? Thanks
Normally it shout automatically remount after every computer reboot ✌️I never had to remove it and remount manually since i installed in in my Mac 🤨 Try to erase the drive and start from zero.

imagine a 2tb version of this...
it's such a shame ssd pricing at apple are 12 times higher (per GB) than an ssd for desktop pc on amazon and people use an sd card because they can't afford the super expensive option when you buy the macbook
Apple is making a lot of margin with the SSD upgrade :) That's their business model :D
storage doesn't need to be so close to the cpu, so you can make it user replaceable. there a benefit in having soldered DDR5 7000mhz+ RAM but no benefit to soldered storage apart from saving space maybe. macos use this storage as storage, I haven't got the IT degree at walmart. apple separated the memory controller from the rest of the NAND, so the "SSD" chips you see are just storage and the information about the data location are elsewhere in the CPU package. this is an intentional apple decision to make things worse for the user alongside soldering storage in the first place.@AlphaF28
@AlphaF28 yeh I agree completely with this. I think this thing is a gimmick and obviously overpriced for what it is. It just happens to have become known for 'being sleek', for people who are OCD about that stuff or couldn't think of their own way to make the SD card feel nicer
Thanks, it’s really helpful. Now I can add more storage 😅
Cool!
Its too slow speed solution. 75bm/s
Have a better one that's alluminum
So it’s an SD card
Yea a really slow sd card
Chaz Lodge
pretty slow though
I'm sure that SD Card won't last longer, because the manufacturer typically don't show the how much the TBW (TeraBytes Written), and it's because they knew that SD Card has low TBW that they ashamed to put on their website or datasheet.
Using it for 2 years now 🤠Never had any issue
That depends on controller quality, and how many random I/O you do. (I would use Samsung or Sandisk variant of that if it is available, since their controllers are most likely to last longer. e.g. "High-endurance" SD cards or SD cards for "Dashcams")
If you are just copying photos/videos time to time, (i.e. storage used rarely) this might be ok.

it is a m3 pro

I purchased this Transcend JetDrive 330 1TB. It works fine. But, I need to remount the drive by taking out the card and plug it in again to mount it. Is there anyway that it will automatic remount, like after computer reboot? Thanks
Normally it shout automatically remount after every computer reboot ✌️I never had to remove it and remount manually since i installed in in my Mac 🤨
Try to erase the drive and start from zero.
I want to buy the current 15" $1500 mac book pro but it only has 8GB internal memory. WTF.. 😠
that 8gb is memory (ram) not storage
can i use this external ssd using an adapter for my macbook air m2
