- Danielle and Nick insist they were great parents to their now 8-year-old daughter. They claim it’s been nearly two years since Danielle’s sister, Kimberly, has “kidnapped” their daughter and not allowed them to visit her. Kimberly claims she had no choice but to obtain guardianship of her niece because she says Danielle and Nick are drug addicts and have a history of arrests. She also claims they both neglected the little girl while they disappeared to do drugs. Nick and Danielle admit they were drug addicts but say they’re clean now. They deny all of Kimberly’s accusations of neglect, and say coming to Dr. Phil is their chance to fight to bring their little girl home, despite currently living in a homeless shelter. (2217045)

No, because of your drug abuse, you can't see your daughter. I don't understand why the courts think 2 drug addicts living in a homeless shelter and lost custody of their daughter are allowed to have a baby? This is why so many kids end up in the system or worse. If you want to use drugs maybe start using birth control too. JMO

I remember this episode. They have no accountability. Their daughter is being more successful and loved with her aunt. If it's working and still a better situation for the child leave it alone unless you are willing to make those serious changes which maybe they made. Who knows but their incite was 0% so I doubt it happened right away.
I can understand maybe if someone (even a parent) does have a substance abuse problem, let her family take her daughter in until she & he are able to get sober. (It does happen & doesn't always make u bad parent/s if u do something about it) howeverr they first need to get a job & get financially stable so they can take care of & also neither one of them showing up for courtdates & hearings obviously doesn't care or they would & her baby being born addicted is extremely selfish. Sad. I feel for the baby who im sure had major withdrawals bc the mother was too selfish to really care. They do seem better off with her sister Imo.
