Rad! Thanks so much for doing my request Shane. I imagine that recording session was full of tension, ego, and cocaine. But it sure would have been fun to be there.

It's the "wrong version" because the guitarsolo section is cutted too short.

The guy in the hat and glasses is Paul shortino from Rough Cut he was the second singer in King Cobra and did one album with Quiet Riot. Plus the two guys from blue oyster cult were singing and playing guitar.

Just LOVED this when it came out. All the metal bands were largely left out of the high profile benefits at the time and this was a great project and gesture by the hard rock/metal community at the time. I have the single on 12 inch vinyl, one of my fav purchases ever. Love the song too. Dio, plus Geoff Tate, Halford and Don Dokken in their primes, wow, what an arsenal of vocalists!. Even had Yngwie in the room on the guitar side of things. Great stuff. Again, another winner Shane!

Paul Shortino also recorded the only non-Dubrow album with QR, which wasn't all that impressive. No offense, but nobody can replace Kevin in that band.

@ 6:01,The power of Rob Halford's vocals breaking through all vocal barriers. Did I just see a piece a lung fly out? LOL I saw or read somewhere that Neal Schon had jet lag from touring when Dio asked him to come to the studio to record. Neal said he would if he could just record and go, since he was so tired. Also what I read was that Neal felt some tension in the room of guitarist when he walked in. Yngwie Malmsteen was the only guitarist who came up and spoke to him first. I believe Yngwie needed a distortion pedal and Neal let him use his. I think this may have come from one of Neal Schon's interviews somewhere on YT.

George Lynch also says that every guitarist was chasing (trying to shred like) Yngwie. Even Neal Schon is shredding beyond what you'd normally see (if you watch the version of the video with the entire solo). I also remember reading something about Yngwie laughing at Eddie Ojeda's (Twisted Sister) solo. It is pretty basic.

Ha you never get stumped but you did twice! First of all- I don’t know who that singer is either. Jeff Soto? I have no clue. But you insinuated that Carmine shouldn’t sing. He is one of the main vocalists of Vanilla Fudge, who Deep Purple credit their early sound to. Also, you can distinctly hear his voice all over the Blue Murder record singing backup for Sykes. See him sing live on Jellyroll/ Blue Murder live. It’s a little in studio performance for MTV it rips. Anyway- fun post SD! Thanks for giving us something to watch.

So who all is in this video it be easier to say who's not let's see when I was a child I said where the heck is Bruce Dickinson where's Angus where is Brian Johnson where is Klaus Meine where is Rudolph where's Michael Schenker but hey they all couldn't be at the same place at the same time I guess and I'm a guitar player and in this video I'm more entertained by the singers because they really kick it up a notch if you noticed they all kind of have a Dio tone because Dave meniketti is not that evil and he sounds fucking Wicked badass on this tune and just a couple little things if you notice like Geoff Tate is a little more grittier and and not clear as a bell like on Queens Reich records they all smash it I think the only one to drop the ball is Don Dokken that guy sucks a big weenie always has always will the only thing that ever carried Dokken was a few cool guitar solos of George Lynch and a Mr scary guitar other than that I always had to question my friends musical tastes who said they like Dokken so yeah thanks for the memory lane stroll was pretty fucking rad
